PTMSP-Silica-PEI 복합막에 의한 수소-질소 혼합기체 분리 (Separation of Hydrogen-Nitrogen Gas Mixture by PTMSP-Silica-PEI Composite Membranes)

  • PTMSP-PEI 복합막과 PTMSP-Silica-PEI 복합막을 제조하고, 막의 특성을 FT-IR, GPC, SEM 등을 사용하여 조사하였다. PTMSP-Silica-PEI 복합막은 silica의 함량이 23∼60 wt%로 증가하면서 입자의 크기는 점차 작아지고 입자의 분포는 균일하게 되었다. PTMSP-PEI 복합막과 PTMSP-Silica-PEI 복합막에 의한 $H_2$/$N_2$ 혼합기체분리는 $25^{\circ}C$, $\Delta$P 5 psi∼30 psi 범위에서 조사되었다. PTMSP-PEI 복합막과 PTMSP-Silica-PEI 복합막들의 수소에 대한 분리인자($\alpha$, $\beta$, (equation omitted)) 값은 투과셀의 압력이 증가할수록 그리고 silica의 함량이 증가할수록 증가하였다. $25^{\circ}C$, $\Delta$P 30 psi에서 PTMSP-PEI 복합막의 수소에 대한 $\alpha$, $\beta$, (equation omitted) 값은 2.28, 1.58, 1.44이고 silica 60 wt%인 PTMSP-Silica-PEI 복합막의 수소에 대한 $\alpha$, $\beta$, (equation omitted) 값은 3.34, 1.95, 1.72 이었다.

  • There is much recent interests in applying membrane separation technologies, especially for organic liquid and vapor separation or removing dissolved organics from water. Pervaporation separation can separate azeotropic mixtures and mixtures close to boiling point, and it has a potential for energy saving process instead of distillation. Removal of chlorinated oraganics from water is other measure application for pervaporation separation. Contaminated pollutant must be removed from water, and a pervaporation can effectively remove the pollutant. Air pollution by organic vapor recently became serious enviromncntal problem, and removing organic vapor from air is important application of the membrane technology.

  • Porous membranes were prepared via thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) of (ethylene-co-vinyl alcohol) (EVOH)/glycerol mixtures. The liquid-liquid (L-L) phase boundaries are shifted to higher temperature when the ethylene contents in EVOH increase. Moreover, the kinetic study proved that the growth of droplets formed by the general liquid-liquid (L-L) phase separation obeyed a power-law scaling relationship in the later stage of spinodal decomposition (SD). A new phase separation mechanism was presented, in which the L-L phase separation could be resulted from the crystallization. The hollow fiber membranes were prepared. The membranes showed asymmetric structures with skin layer near the outer surface, the larger pores just below the skin layer and the smaller pores near the inner surface. The effect of ethylene content (EC) in EVOH, cooling water bath temperature and take-up speed on membrane performance was investigated.

Mathematical Modelling and Simulation of CO2 Removal from Natural Gas Using Hollow Fibre Membrane Modules

  • Gas separation via hollow fibre membrane modules (HFMM) is deemed to be a promising technology for natural gas sweetening, particularly for lowering the level of carbon dioxide (CO2) in natural gas, which can cause various problems during transportation and process operation. Separation performance via HFMM is affected by membrane properties, module specifications and operating conditions. In this study, a mathematical model for HFMM is developed, which can be used to assess the effects of the aforementioned variables on separation performance. Appropriate boundary conditions are imposed to resolve steady-state values of permeate variables and incorporated in the model equations via an iterative numerical procedure. The developed model is proven to be reliable via model validation against experimental data in the literature. Also, the model is capable of capturing axial variations of process variables as well as predicting key performance indicators. It can be extended to simulate a large-scale plant and identify an optimal process design and operating conditions for improved separation efficiency and reduced cost.

  • 분리막을 이용한 투과증발공정은 에너지 소모가 적고 설치비와 운영비면에서 우수한 효과를 볼 수 있기 때문에 증류공정을 대신할 수 있는 공정으로 주목받고 있다. 특히 석유화학공정은 공정 중에 에너지 소모가 크고, 많은 화합물들이 공비혼합물을 이루고, 새로운 공정을 설치하기 위해서는 작은 공간을 필요로 하기 때문에 투과증발공정은 증류공정을 대체할 수 있는 매우 유력한 후보이다. 벤젠/시클로헥산을 포함하는 방향족 화합물의 분리, 올레핀/파라핀 분리, 자일렌 이성질체의 분리, 반응성 단량체의 회수, 가솔린으로부터 황 화합물의 제거 등에 투과증발공정을 응용하는 많은 연구가 이루어졌으며, 상용화가 되고 있다.

  • 기름/물 분리막은 다른 분리 기술들에 비해 낮은 에너지 비용과 높은 성능 수준을 갖고 있다. 초친수성과 수중에서 소유성은 효과적인 기름/물 분리막을 개발하는 데 가장 중요한 요인으로 작용한다. 이와 더불어 방오속성과 생분해성도 효과적인 기름/물 분리막을 개발할 때에 고려되는 중요한 요소들이다. 본 리뷰 논문에서는 다양한 화학성분과 형태를 변형시켜 개발된 기름/물 분리막의 특성과 분리 효율을 개선한 연구들을 소개한다.

  • A chiral stationary phase (CSP) was synthesized by the modification of the chitosan using N-nicotinoyl phenylalanine and 3, 5-dimethylphenylisocyanate . The CSP based on the chitosan was then characterized in terms of their chemical structure and physical properties. To test its performance as a CSP, the silica powder with 5 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ of diameter were coated with the CSP to pack a column for High Performance Liquid Chromatograph (HPLC). Using the packed column, several racemates were tried to separate under various separation conditions with different compositions of eluents.

  • Industrial gas separation by membranes began in 1980 with the introduction of hollow-fiber polysulfone membrane systems by Permea, at that time a division of Monsanto. This first application was the recovery of hydrogen from ammonia reactor purge gas and was soon followed by the generation of nitrogen from air. Today, membrane gas separation ranks second behind cryogenic distillation in terms of nitrogen production, and this application has drawn the industrial gas companies into the membrane field.(omitted)

  • Membrane process has been applied widely to petroleum chemistry, fine chemistry, polymer, electronics, food, bioprocessing, and wastewater treatment process. Membrane process has advantage that there's no phase change through separation, energy consumption is smaller than other separation processes. And equipment investment and operation cost are inxpensive too. We prepared the silicone rubber membrane and then separated the heavy metal ion from wastewater. Silicone rubber membrane was prepared using a superitical fluid process and heavy metal ions were separated from the chromium nitrate, ferric sulfate, cupric sulfate, nickel sulfate aqueous solution. The pressure difference between top and bottom of separation apparatus was preserved by vacuum pump, and the removal amount of heavy metal at each separation step were analyzed by instrumental analysis, AAS. The surface and pore of silicone rubber membrane was investigated using SEM, and the capability of wastewater treatment using a silicone rubber membrane was proposed as calculated removal rate of heavy metal after comparing removal amount of heavy metal to amount of heavy metal in mother solution by AAS analysis.
