Spline function solution for the ultimate strength of member structures

  • In this paper a spline function solution for the ultimate strength of steel members and member structures is derived based on total Lagrangian formulation. The displacements of members along longitudinal and transverse directions are interpolated by one-order B spline functions and three-order hybrid spline functions respectively. Equilibrium equations are established according to the principle of virtual work. All initial imperfections of members and effects of loading, unloading and reloading of material are taken into account. The influence of the instability of members on structural behavior can be included in analyses. Numerical examples show that the method of this paper can satisfactorily analyze the elasto-plastic large deflection problems of planar steel member and member structures.

  • The optimum design of a structure requires the determination of the economical member size and shape of the structure which satisfies the design condition and function. In this study, the process of design automatization of three-dimensional truss structure introduces the optimization technique tests its application in the design automatization, proposes its application method and applies the example structure of the parabolic antenna truss. Using the Formex Algebra of configuration function, the structure's mesh-generation is automatized. By using the program developed in this study, the input member array, member size and load condition designer can generate the input data file for the structure analysis and optimum design. This study is aimed at the development of a design automatization system that search for tile optimum value of a structure design by observing the structure's sensitivity from the modification of member array and member property.

Whole as a Semantic Pluralizer

  • The semantics of whole involves distributivity, which may not be accounted for by the distributive operator for plurals or quantifiers. I review the pragmatic approach to whole by Moltmann (2005) and propose that the semantics of whole can be explained by the member specification function, which maps a group to its members. Although NPs with whole are morphologically singular, they become semantically plural with the application of the function. The distributive operator for plurals is introduced on a sentence with whole, which explains the distributivity of whole.

클래스 계층구조 슬라이싱을 이용한 C++프로그램 최적화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Optimization of C++ Program Using the Class Hierarchies Slicing)

  • 본 논문에서는 C++ 클래스 계층구조(상속관계를 가진 클래스들의 모음)를 대상으로 객체 지향 언어의 특성인 단일/다중 상속, 정적/동적 바인딩, 함수중복/함수재정의(Overloading & Overriding), 순수가상/가상함수, 생성자 문제를 고려하여 멤버데이터와 멤버함수를 최적화 할 수 있는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 프로그램 계층 구조와 그 계층 구조를 사용하는 프로그램은 일반적으로 클래스 계층 구조의 부분적인 기능만을 사용하기 때문에 많은 구성요소를 포함하는 클래스들에서 불필요한 기능을 제거하는 것이 필요하게 되었다. 지금까지 연구되어 왔던 고전적인 슬라이싱이나 다른 변형된 슬라이싱은 출력데이터를 선택하고 그와 관련된 프로그램 문장을 포함하는데 초점을 맞추고 있다. 그 대상은 대부분 구조적 프로그램 언어로 이루어졌으며 이러한 슬라이싱은 주로 오류 검출, 소프트웨어의 유지보수, 유연한 테스팅을 위한 주제로 연구가 되어 왔다. 본 논문에서는 그 대상 범위를 객체 지향 언어로 확장시키고, 분석단계에서 테이블 구성형태를 링크형태로 구성함으로써 보다 정보관리의 효율을 높일 수 있고, 이 테이블을 이용한 최적화 시스템 구현을 통해 필요한 알고리즘을 제시하였다. 이러한 과정을 통해 불필요한 멤버데이터, 멤버함수, 클래스 상속관계를 제거함으로 프로그램 코드의 간소화, 시스템 성능의 향상을 가져올 수 있다.

전방 차체의 정면 충돌성능 향상을 위한 범퍼 스테이 설계 (Bumper Stay Design for Improving Frontal Crash Performance of Front Body)

  • Front side member of the front impacted vehicle plays a key role in minimizing the impacting load transferred to the compartment. To perform that required function, axial collapse should be dominant during side member crashing and, prior to designing side member, it is crucial to minimize bending moment occurred at the front end. In this study, for FE model of a SUV front body, front impact analyses were carried to find out bumper stay design which effectively develope axial collapse in the side member. As a previous work, the thickness of side member reinforcement were changed. Next, the inner thickness of bumper stay was increased. Also, the bead shape and location were modified. Final front body model showed much more axial collapsed mode and enhanced crash performance. In addition, a stay of octagon section was adopted and that model exhibited distinctive increase in impact energy absorption.

단층래티스 돔의 좌굴부재 보강효과에 관한 연구 (Reinforcement Effects of Buckling Member for Single-layer Latticed Dome)

  • The single layer latticed domes have attracted many designers and researchers's attention all of the world, because these structures as spatial structure are of great advantage in not only mechanical rationality but also function, fabrication, construction and economic aspect. But single layer latticed domes are apt to occur the unstable phenomena that are called "buckling" because of the lack of strength of members, instability of structural shape, etc. In the case of latticed dome, there are several types of buckling mode such as overall buckling, local buckling, and member buckling according to the shape of dome, section type of member, the size of member, junction's condition of member and so on. There are many methods to increase the buckling strength of the single layer latticed dome, that is, with the change of geometrical shape of dome, the reinforcement of buckled member, etc. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to verify the reinforcement effect of buckled member when designers reinforce the buckled member to increase the buckling strength of single layer latticed dome with 3-way grid.

Dynamic analysis of a cable-stayed bridge using continuous formulation of 1-D linear member

  • This paper presents the solution scheme of using the continuous formulation of 1-D linear member for the dynamic analysis of structures consisting of axially loaded members. The context describes specific applications of such scheme to the verification of experimental data obtained from field test of bridges carried out by a microwave interferometer system and velocimeters. Attention is focused on analysis outlines that may be applicable to in-situ assessment for cable-stayed bridges. The derivation of the dynamic stiffness matrix of a prismatic member with distributed properties is briefly reviewed. A back calculation formula using frequencies of two arbitrary modes of vibration is next proposed to compute the tension force in cables. Derivation of the proposed formula is based on the formulation of an axially loaded flexural member. The applications of the formulation and the proposed formula are illustrated with a series of realistic examples.

  • Stereoscopic/autostereoscopic systems have been developed to express 3D images, but have not been successfully use in practise. In order to apply 3D display to promising applications such as advertisements and games, we developed a 42" 2D/3D switchable display. It has characteristics that do not require special glasses for 3D images, uses multi-view technology for improving 3D viewing characteristics, and has a 2D/3D switching function to express dynamic 3D contents as well as conventional 2D contents.

  • A plane stress yield function YLD2000(Yoon et al., 2000) is applied to the finite element analysis S/W Z-Stamp because it is required to conduct proper consideration of aluminum alloy which has anomalous behavior. In the previous study, verification of the yield function and developed S/W is implemented. In this paper, two real parts of automobile body are additionally considered to verify the validity of Z-Stamp. The one is the benchmark problem #2 of Numisheet 2005 and the other is a small member part. In case of benchmark problem, formability simulation result and try-out result are compared with each other. In case of the small member part, formability analysis is implemented to predict the problem during the developing time.

강아치교의 고등해석과 최적설계 (Advaced analysis and optimal design of steel arch bridges)

  • 본 논문에서는 강아치교의 고등해석과 최적설계를 수행하였다. 고등해석은 해석시에 구조계와 그에 속한 부재의 강도와 안정을 직접 고려함으로서, 해석후 개별부재의 강도검토가 필요없는 설계방법을 지칭한다. 기하학적 비선형 효과를 고려하기 위하여 안정함수를 사용하였다. 잔류응력으로 인한 점진적인 소성화를 고려하기 위하여 CRC 접선 탄성계수를 사용하였다. 탄성강성에서 완전소성강성까지 점진적인 소성화를 나타내기 위하여 포물선 함수를 사용하였다. 최적화 기법으로는 수정된 단면점증법을 사용하였다. 수정된 단면점증법은 AASHTO-LRFD의 상관방정식으로 계산된 값중에서 최대값을 가지는 부재의 크기를 단계별로 증가시키는 방법이다. 목적함수는 구조물의 중량을 사용하였으며, 제약조건식은 구조시스템의 하중-저항능력 및 처짐 조건을 고려하였다. 제안된 방법에 의한 설계결과를 기존의 연구결과와 비교하였다.
