The COSPAS-SARSAT committee decides MEOSAR (Medium-Earth Orbit for search and rescue) service development for installing 406MHz SAR instruments on their respective MEO navigation satellite system of the United States, EU, and Russia, since 2000. The transmitted beacon signal is separately arrived by satellites with different FOA (Frequency of Arrival) and TOA (Time of Arrival). It is directly transferred to MEOLUT. In MEOLUT, a LUT track at least 3 or 4 satellites simultaneously and estimate location of beacon using time difference of arrival (TDOA) and frequency difference arrival (FDOA). But the transmitted distress signals may be overlapped each other because the distress beacons transmit signal on mean interval of 50 seconds in arbitrary time. It's difficult that simultaneously estimate location of beacon by current scheme for several overlapped distress signal. So we use cross ambiguity function (CAF) Map algorithm and present Multi-CAF MAP scheme in order to satisfy performance requirement of system. The performance is analyzed for COSAPS-SARSAT MEOSAR.

Policy maker inevitably faces two restraints once they attempt to accomplish $4^{th}$ Industrial Revolution through development of Industrial Internet of Things(i.e. IIoT). One is to construct physical network by substituting old equipment and infrastructure into smart equipment and the other is to connect the physical network into national telecommunications infrastructure. Australia, as she proceeds National Broadband Network programme, has assembled all medium of telecommunications to provide every Australian premises regardless to its physical location by creating wholes-sale only carrier, NBN co. At the same time, Australian government also provides its own IIoT policy; Co-development and New-Development projects. Meanwhile, NBN co. has launched its own two communication satellites in 2015 and 2016 to replace the old satellite communication services depended on the other companies' satellites. This article, in the end, analyses the role of satellite communication in $4^{th}$ industrial revolution with case study on Australian policy.

Increasing numbers of space debris around the earth now pose a major threat to satellites as their impact velocity may reach up to several km/s. We use a pulse laser to accelerate a miniflyer for mimicking the space debris. The multi-layer coat on the confined medium is known to promote a higher acceleration. However, it requires some special techniques which take somewhat long time and cost to coat. Instead, we devised a simple concept to coat by the black lacquer paint on a flyer. It shows improvement in the flyer velocity by 1.5-2 times the uncoated, and the resulting velocity reached 1.42km/s with Nd:YAG laser energy under 1.4 joules. The resulting velocity is suitable for satellite vulnerability test for debris impact in the geostationary orbit.

In this study, fluid flow and thermal characteristics in a catalyst bed for nitrous oxide catalytic decomposition which is introduced as a hybrid rocket ignition system for small satellites were theoretically considered. To analyze the thermal phenomena of the catalyst bed, a so-called porous medium approach has been opted for modeling the honeycomb geometry of the catalyst bed. Using a Brinkman-extended Darcy model for fluid flow and the one-equation model for heat transfer, the analytical solutions for both velocity and temperature distributions in the catalyst bed are obtained and compared with experimental data to validate the porous medium approach. Based on the analytical solutions, parameters of engineering importance are identified to be the porosity of the catalyst bed, effective volumetric ratio, the ratio of the radius of the catalyst bed to the radius of a pore, heat flux generated by a heater, and pumping power. Their effects on thermal phenomena of the catalyst bed are studied.
Numerous water disasters have recently occurred all over the world, including South Korea, due to global climate change in recent years. As water-related disasters occur extensively and their sites are difficult for people to access, it is necessary to monitor them using satellites. The Ministry of Environment and K-water plan to launch the next-generation medium satellite No. 5 (water resource/water disaster satellite) equipped with C-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) in 2025. C-band SAR has the advantage of being able to observe water resources twice a day at a high resolution both day and night, regardless of weather conditions. Currently, RADARSAT-2 and Sentinel-1 equipped with C-band SAR achieve the purpose of their launch and are used in various environmental fields such as forest structure detection and coastline change monitoring, as well as for unique purposes including the detection of flooding, drought and soil moisture change, utilizing the advantages of SAR. As such, this study aimed to analyze the characteristics of the next-generation medium satellite No. 5 and its application in environmental fields. Our findings showed that it can be used to improve the degree of precision of existing environmental spatial information such as the classification accuracy of land cover map in environmental field works. It also enables us to observe forests and water resources in North Korea that are difficult to access geographically. It is ultimately expected that this will enable the monitoring of the whole Korean Peninsula in various environmental fields, and help in relevant responses and policy supports.
Recent global warming and anthropogenic activities have caused more frequent and massive wildfires with longer durations and more significant damages. MODIS has been monitoring global wildfires for almost 20 years, and GK2A and Himawari-8 are observing the wildfires in East Asia 144 times a day. However, the spatial resolution of 1 to 2 km is not sufficient for the detection of small and medium-size active fires, and therefore the studies on the active fire detection using high-resolution images are essential. However, there is no official product for the high-resolution active fire detection. Hence, we implemented the active fire detection algorithm of Landsat 8 and carried out a high-resolution-based detection of active fires in Australia in 2019, followed by the comparisons with the products of Himawari-8 and MODIS. Regarding the intense fires, the three satellites showed similar results, whereas the weak igniting and extinguishing fires or the fires in narrow areas were detected by only Landsat 8 with a 30m resolution. Small-sized fires, which are the majority in Korea, can be detected by the high-resolution satellites such as Landsat 8, Sentinel-2, Kompsat-3A, and the forthcoming Kompsat-7. Also, a comprehensive analysis together with the geostationary satellites in East Asia such as GK2A, Himawari-8, and Fengyun-3 will help the interoperability and the improvement of spatial and temporal resolutions.
Surface reflectance, as a product of the absolute atmospheric correction process of low-orbit satellite imagery, is the basic data required for accurate vegetation analysis. The Commission on Earth Observation Satellite (CEOS) has conducted research and guidance to produce analysis-ready data (ARD) on surface reflectance products for immediate use by users. However, this trend is still in the early stages of research dealing with ARD for high-resolution multispectral images such as KOMPSAT-3A and CAS-500, as it targets medium- to low-resolution satellite images. This study first summarizes the types of distribution of ARD data according to existing cases. The link between Open Data Cube (ODC), the cloud-based satellite image application platforms, and ARD data was also explained. As a result, we present practical ARD deployment steps for high-resolution satellite images and several types of application models in the conceptual level for high-resolution satellite images deployed in ODC and cloud environments. In addition, data pricing policies, accuracy quality issue, platform applicability, cloud environment issues, and international cooperation regarding the proposed implementation and application model were discussed. International organizations related to Earth observation satellites, such as Group on Earth Observations (GEO) and Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS), are continuing to develop system technologies and standards for the spread of ARD and ODC, and these achievements are expanding to the private sector. Therefore, a satellite-holder country looking for worldwide markets for satellite images must develop a strategy to respond to this international trend.

Data communications networks at sea can be modelled by multi-layered networks with traditional carriers (RF, satellites), and BWA (wireless LAN, WiBro, LTE), which partially makes it possible the high speed communication services (WWW, VoIP) at sea. In this paper, a novel routing scheme (CPR) is proposed which selects an optimal carrier for each hop in routes based on carrier preferences (CP). The carrier preferences are measured proactively depending on the feasibility of transmission characteristics (transmission rate, cost, and latency time) of the carriers for each application. Performance was compared with that of the OMH-MW (Optimal Medium per Hop based on Max-Win) routing scheme.
Observations with EUVE, ROSAT, and BeepoSAX have shown that some clusters of galaxies produce intense EUV emission. These findings have produced considerable interest; over 100 papers have been published on this topic in the refereed literature. A notable suggestion as to the source of this radiation is that it is a 'warm' (106 K) intracluster medium which, if present, would constitute the major baryonic component of the universe. A more recent variation of this theme is that this material is 'warm-hot' intergalactic material condensing onto clusters. Alternatively, inverse Compton scattering of low energy cosmic rays against cosmic microwave background photons has been proposed as the source of this emission. Various origins of these particles have been posited, including an old (${\~}$Giga year) population of cluster cosmic rays; particles associated with relativistic jets in the cluster; and cascading particles produced by shocks from sub-cluster merging. The observational situation has been quite uncertain with many reports of detections which have been subsequently contradicted by analyses carried out by other groups. Evidence supporting a thermal and a non-thermal origin has been reported. The existing EUV, FUV, and optical data will be briefly reviewed and clarified. Direct observational evidence from a number of different satellites now rules out a thermal origin for this radiation. A new examination of subtle details of the EUV data suggests a new source mechanism: inverse Compton scattered emission from secondary electrons in the cluster. This suggestion will be discussed in the context of the data.

This paper addresses the design and analysis results of a 2-axes magnetometer for attitude determination of small satellite. A low-cost and efficient 2-axes fluxgate magnetometer was selected as the most suitable attitude sensor for LEO microsatellites which require a low-to-medium level pointing accuracy. An optimization trade-off study has been performed for the development of 2-axes fluxgate magnetometer. All the relevant parameters such as permeability, demagnetization factor, coil diameter, core thickness, and number of coil turns were considered for the sizing of a small satellite magnetometer. The magnetometer which is designed, manufactured, and tested in-house as described in this paper satisfies linearity requirement for determining attitude position of small satellites. On the basis of magnetometer which is designed in Space System Research Lab. (SSRL), commercial magnetometer will be developed.
