심박변이도(HRV : Heart Rate Variability) 측정을 통한 정서 상태 및 명상의 종류별 명상 효능 평가 (Effect of Meditation According to Emotional State and Meditation Subgroup Evaluated by HRV(Heart Rate Variability))

  • Objectives : This study has the object to evaluate the effect of meditation at the clinical field and to classify the profer meditation by the emotional states of patients. Methods : Thirty volunteers have been recruited using local advertisement. They devided into two groups(patient group, normal group). Emotional states and stressors (STAI, STAXI, BDI, SCL-90-R, Stress Response inventory, Life event stress) have been evaluated. After that test HRV(Heart Rate Variability) has been tested and subjects took a 5-minute rest. After that, one of meditation has been chosed and has been demonstrated for 10 minutes by practiced trainer(Autogenic Training, Fruit Imaginary Meditation, Random assignment). After 5 minutes resting time, HRV has been measured again with meditation that had been administered. Results : 1. The higher the scale of emotional index, the more sensitively react has been occured according to the meditation. 2. The rate of HRV index that means stable state is higher in Fruit Imaginary Meditation group who thought to be administered meditation well. 3. The Fruit Imaginary Meditation is more effective immediately than Autogenic Training assessed by HRV scale and VAS scale of well-administered meditation especially in patients group. 4. Subjects of Highly suffered emotional problem have more effect in Fruit Imaginary Meditation Group compared to Autogenic Training Group. Conclusions : Suitable beginner meditation course considered patient's emotional problem needs to be programmed.

정신건강의학과 외래에서 시행한 마음챙김 명상 프로그램이 우울 및 불안장애 환자들의 긍정자원과 긍정정서에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Mindfulness Meditation on Positive Resources and Positive Affects in Outpatients with Depressive Disorder and Anxiety Disorder)

  • Objectives : Mindfulness meditation has recently become a major component in mainstream modern cognitive behavioral therapy. The purpose of this study was to examine effects of a mindfulness meditation program on positive resources of outpatients with depressive disorder and anxiety disorder. Methods : Participants were 55 psychiatric clinic outpatients. Participants received eight weekly sessions in a mindfulness meditation training program, that was approximately 90 minutes each. Measures included the Positive Resources Test (POREST), Acceptance and Action Questionnaire-16 (AAQ-16), Life Satisfaction Expectancy Scales (LSES), and Subjective Happiness Scale (SHS). Variables were measured at two time points : pre- and post-implementation (eight weeks later). Results : Paired t-test results of participants before and after the mindfulness meditation program revealed statistically significant improvement in positive resources (t=-5.847, p<.001), acceptance (t=-4.090, p<.001), life satisfaction expectancy (t=-3.892, p<.001), but not in subjective happiness. Conclusion : Results suggest mindfulness meditation may be effective to enhance positive resources, acceptance, and life satisfaction in outpatients with depressive disorder and anxiety disorder. Mindfulness meditation may be a factor in improving psychological well-being and positive psychological features in outpatients with depressive disorder and anxiety disorder.

노인대상 명상프로그램 효과성 메타분석 (The Meta-analysis of the Effects of Meditation Programs of the Elderly)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 노인대상 명상프로그램에 대한 선행연구들의 결과를 메타분석을 이용하여 효과크기를 검증함으로써 명상프로그램 개발을 위한 기초자료를 제시하는데 있다. 노인대상 명상프로그램의 유형, 중재변인군 및 활동요소들에 대한 효과크기를 분석하기 위하여 2003년부터 2017년 4월까지 보고된 논문 24편을 선별하고 메타분석을 사용하여 효과크기를 요약한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전체평균 효과크기는 .914로써 큰 효과크기가 나타났고, 프로그램 유형 중에는 복합명상이 1.726으로 가장 큰 효과크기를 보였다. 중재변인군 중에는 긍정심리적변인군이 1.368로 가장 높았고, 성별은 여성으로만 구성된 집단이 .921로 크게 나타났다. 둘째, 활동요소 중에서는 총회기수는 12~20회(1.193), 주회기수는 2회(1.254), 회기 당 활동시간은 110~120분(1.581), 집단크기는 71~100명(1.535)이 효과크기가 크게 나타났다. 출판유형은 학술지 논문(1.062)이 학위 논문(0.817)보다 비교적 높게 나타났다. 향후 노인대상 명상프로그램 구성 시 프로그램 유형은 복합명상, 총회기수 12~20회, 주회기수 2회, 활동시간은 110~120분을 제안하고자 한다. 본 연구는 고령사회로 진입한 시점에서 노인을 대상으로 수행된 명상프로그램에 대한 프로그램 유형, 중재변인군 및 활동요소들에 따른 효과성을 확인함으로써 향후 프로그램 개발을 위한 기초자료를 제공하였다는데 의의가 있을 것이다.

명상프로그램(α version) 시행 전 후의 심리유형별 HRV 변화 연구 (Research of Change of Heart Rate Variability by Psychological Types before and after Meditation Program (α Version))

  • Objectives: To examine the medical effectiveness of meditation programs ($\alpha$ version) by psychological types. Methods: MBTI, which was created by Katharine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers, was used as the Psychological Type test and to investigate psychological temperament and functions and psychological preferences. Heart rate variability was used to test the effectiveness of meditation by investigating time domains (mean HR, SDNN, PSI) and frequence domain parameters (TP, LF, HF, LF or HF norm, Ln (TP or VLF or LF or HF). Results: 1. The autonomic nervous system became active, and both time domains and frequency domains showed positive responses to meditation in heart rate variability tests, without distinction of Psychological Types. 2. In Psychological Types using sensing over intuition for perception, there were positive responses as well as an increase of the parasympathetic nervous system's activeness to meditation for heart rate variability tests, depending on psychological temperaments and psychological functions. 3. In heart rate variability tests by preferences, there was no difference. Extroversion and Introversion types, Sensing over Intuition Types, Thinking over Feeling Types, Judging over Perception Types had an increase of activeness of the parasympathetic nervous system. Therefore, meditation has a positive physical and psychological relaxing effect. Conclusions: A complex meditation program has a positive effect on overall meditation. Especially in the MBTI test, sensing was superior to intuition when people recognized objects. The Sensing, Thinking and Judging type was more advantageous than Intuition, Feeling and Perception, respectively. In the future, a well-designed control study is needed, to develop a suitable meditation for each personality type.

자비명상이 대학생들의 마음챙김, 회복 탄력성 및 스트레스에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Loving-Kindness Meditation Intervention with Tea on the Mindfulness, Resilience, and Stress of College Students)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 자비명상 프로그램이 대학생들의 마음챙김, 회복 탄력성, 스트레스에 미치는 효과를 검증하기 위하여 실시하였다. 본 프로그램에 참여한 대학생은 C지역의 N대학에서 교양과정에 등록한 30명을 추첨을 통하여 실험집단 및 통제집단에 각각 15명씩 무선할당하였다. 실험집단 참여자는 매주 1회씩 80분 동안 10주에 걸쳐 10회기의 자비명상 프로그램 참여하였다. 마음챙김, 회복 탄력성 및 스트레스 수준을 사전, 사후, 추후에 각각 측정하여 반복측정 분산분석을 실시한 결과, 실험집단 참여자들은 통제집단의 참여자들보다 마음챙김 수준이 유의미하게 증가하였다. 회복 탄력성 전체 점수 및 하위요인인 통제성, 낙관성 및 사회성에서도 유의미한 수준의 차이가 나타났다. 스트레스 수준 또한 전체 점수 및 긴장, 공격성, 신체화, 화, 우울, 피로, 좌절의 각 하위척도에서도 유의미한 수준의 차이가 나타났다. 이상의 결과는 자비명상 프로그램이 대학생들의 마음챙김, 회복 탄력성, 스트레스 감소에 긍정적 효과가 있음이 밝혀졌다. 따라서 본 자비명상 프로그램은 대학생들의 마음챙김 능력을 함양하고, 회복탄력성을 증진시키고, 스트레스를 완화하는 대안적 프로그램으로 활용할 수 있음을 시사한다. 본 연구에서 한계점과 향후 후속연구에서 필요성을 제언하였다.

The effects of strengthening exercise, stretching and meditation on electromyography onset timing of the rectus femoris and gastrocnemius during vertical jump performance in healthy adults

  • Objective: Jump training helps increase the muscle power by improving the muscle strength and reaction time of the muscle in operation. The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of strengthening, stretching exercise and meditation on electromyographic (EMG) onset timing of rectus femoris and gastrocnemius muscle during vertical jump performance. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Ten healthy adults (5 male and 5 female) who were familiar with the vertical jumping task and had no lower extremity injuries or any bone or joint disorders, were recruited for this study. Muscle onset timing was measured by surface EMG. After EMG onset timing were measured during performing three baseline vertical jump trials, strengthening and stretching exercises of the rectus femoris and gastrocnemius, and meditation were performed in random order. EMG onset timing was measured during vertical jump after intervention, respectively. EMG value was averaged for the three trials and analyzed using one-way repeated ANOVA. Results: During vertical jump, EMG onset timing of gastrocnemius was a significant difference after intervention (p<0.05), and then there was significantly faster in strengthening exercise than meditation (p<0.05). Conclusions: These results indicate the potential positive effect of performing strengthening exercise of the gastrocnemius before a jumping event. Future research is required to identify the effects of intervention over a long period.

한의사의 마음가짐과 명상수행에 대한 연구 (불교명상법을 중심으로) (Study on the relationship between the mindset of doctors and the meditation (concentrating on the buddhist meditation techniques))

  • At the age of materialism and ignorance for life, the introspection for the ethics problem of the doctors, is getting more and more attention. It seems that every doctors should have the basic virtues of modesty and benevolence. Such virtues have been stressed throughout the human history, and, apart from the Hipp. ocratic oath of ancient greece, the morality of a doctor is the essential virtue, even for the doctors of western medicine, whose medical technology is based on the materialism. Unlike western medicine, oriental medicine, for its holistic and relative nature, has more 'relative' factors generated from each individual doctors and therefore, tends to be influenced more by the doctors' attitudes. The diagnosis process itself can be influenced by the emotions of patients and doctors, and even the efficacy of the acupuncture treatment itself can be influenced by the conception a doctor has when he/she conduct the treatment. Therefore, in every classics of oriental medicine have stressed the basic 'attitudes of mind' a doctor should have. But, at the time when the western 'natural science' paradigm prevails, it seems to be difficult to educate such state of mind simply by 'understanding' it through books or media. It needs 'shift of concept' through the humane tools of education. Therefore, the present writer would like to consider the effects and influences of meditation as the tools to develop the virtues of oriental doctors, and to investigate the possibility that the virtues achieved by the meditation is the same one as mentioned in many oriental medical classics(not only the attitude for the patients, but also the state of mind a doctor should have during the diagnosis and treatment process).

명상프로그램(α version) 시행 전후의 사상체질별 심리척도 및 HRV 변화 연구 (Research on Change of Heart Rate Variability and Psychological Scale by Sasang Constitution according to before and after of the Meditation Programs (α version))

  • Objectives: In this study, the meditation programs (${\alpha}$ version), which are properly coordinated according to the motion, breathing, and relaxation, are evaluated and researched upon to have positive effects on stress and in the area of psychology. Methods: Approved by the Clinical Trials Deliberation Committee in Oriental Medicine, Dongguk University, Ilsan Hospital, this study collected data according to the applicant's consents, demographic information and anthropometry for the Sasang Constitutional diagnosis. Sasang Constitutional diagnosis measured the beta tools by Institute of Oriental Medicine and a decision tree was made for the Sasang Constitutional questionnaires. The STAI, STAXI, BDI, and HRV were measured before and after the meditation in order to compare the effects of meditation according to Sasang Constitution. The HRV was used as a ProComP KM Tech (co). Results: 1) The positive changes available in the Time-domain analysis of heart rate variability assessment showed that the peace of mind is increased. By analyzing the Sasang constitution, So-eum In's peace of mind included a physical stability of the autonomic nervous system. 2) According to the psychological scale evaluation, each depression scale, trait anger, anger-in, state anxiety and trait anxiety index proved significantly positive effects. By analyzing the Sasang constitution, Eun-In which involved So-eum In and Tae-eum In, had positive effects. 3) The psychological scale changed the group of diagnosed depression or anxiety, it did not mean that the psychological scale changes in the depression group, but the index of the anxiety group had been significantly reduced. This program had clinical effects for anxious patients and Eum-In which involved Tae-eum In and So-eum In according to the analysis of Sasang constitution. 4) Correlations between the gender of each psychological scale showed that women have overall low correlations, but, there were no significant changes. Conclusions: The meditation program developed by adequately mixing Action, relaxation and breathing shows that it is effective for overall Eum-in physical and mental relaxation and concentration. In the future, It will have to be developed Meditation program to show the same effect for all people.

마음챙김기반 자비명상프로그램이 배우자 상실을 경험한 여성노인의 뇌 활성과 스트레스에 미치는 영향 분석 (Analysis on the Influence of Mindfulness Based Compassion Meditation Program for Elderly Women's Brain Activation and Stress, Who Experienced Loss of Spouse)

  • 본 연구는 마음챙김기반 자비명상프로그램이 배우자를 상실한 여성노인의 뇌 활성과 스트레스에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위하여 2 channel EEG(Electroencephalogram)를 통해 검증하였다. 실험대상은 Y군 소재 65세~75세의 여성노인 60명으로, 30명은 실험집단으로, 30명은 통제집단으로 선정하였다. 연구기간은 2015년 8월에서 2015년 11월까지 매주 1회기씩, 회기 당 60분씩, 총 16회기로 프로그램을 실시하였다. 프로그램은 몸과 마음을 연결해서 통합적으로 치유할 수 있도록 하는 마음챙김과 자기 자신을 향한 사랑, 연민과 자비심 계발을 위한 자비명상을 접목하여 마음챙김기반 자비명상프로그램을 개발한 것이다. 실험결과, 실험집단에서 활성지수 우뇌 사전/사후(82.51/85.83, p<.013)의 변화를 보였으며(유의수준 p=.05). 항스트레스지수는 좌뇌(74.71/71.17, p<.050)로 나타났다. 활성지수는 뇌의 정신적 활동과 행동성향을 판단할 수 있는 지표이고, 항 스트레스지수는 육체적, 정신적 스트레스를 나타내는 지수이다. 본 연구는 마음챙김기반 자비명상프로그램이 배우자 상실을 경험한 여성 노인의 뇌 활성과 스트레스를 향상시킬 수 있는 방법으로서 효용과 가치가 있다는 것을 뇌과학적으로 분석한 것에 의의가 있다.

파킨슨 병(PD)의 후각기능 장애에 대한 호흡 명상 기공 효과 (Effects of Breathing, Meditation and Qigong on the Impairable Dysfunction of Olfactory Sense in the Parkinson's Disease)

  • 목적 : 특발성파킨슨병(PD)은 운동증상(떨림, 운동 완서, 경직)과 비운동증상(통찰력과 인지 장애, 기분의 불편함, 우울증, 불안증, 후각 기능장애)이 있다. 이 연구는 호흡, 명상 및 기공 치유로 PD 비운동증상의 개선 효과를 탐색하는 것이 목적이다. 방법 : PD가 있는 대상자(11명)에게 An's-4444힐링호흡, An's관정힐링명상, An's힐링기공치유의 3단계를 1회에 80분 동안 12회 수행하고 치유 전후, 1개월 경과 후 3회 측정하여 측정치를 비교 평가하였다. 결과 : 12회 치유 후 통찰력과 인지장애에 대한 통합 파킨슨병 등급척도(UPDRSI) 수치는 69%, 우울증척도(HAMD)는 61%, 불안증(HAMA)은 64%, 후각 기능장애 냄새식별 테스트(TSI)는 82%로 각각 개선되었다. 치유 1개월 경과 후의 수치는 4개 척도 모두 차이가 없었다. 이는 치유 후 1개월 경과 후까지 효과가 유지됨을 의미한다. 결론 : An's 호흡, 명상 및 기공요법으로 PD비운동증상이 유의성 있게 개선되었다. 특히 후각기능장애 개선으로, 향기를 맡게 되어 삶의 만족도가 향상되었다. 결과는 호흡, 명상 및 기공요법이 PD의 비운동성 증상을 개선 및 치유하는 자연요법으로 가치가 있다고 판단하며, 의생명과학적 추가 연구가 필요하다.
