  • Objectives This study investigates the construction of a combined system of Western and Oriental medicine at the Korean National Rehabilitation Center. The findings of this study can be used as guidelines for the establishment and management of an Oriental Medicine Department at the Center. Methods The study involved the collection and organization of information regarding combination of Western and Oriental medicine, analysis of the current system, meetings with experts, modifications made on the basis of the meeting results, and assessment of operations to be carried out by the Oriental Medicine Department at the Center. Results This study provided suggestions for the establishment and management of the Oriental Medicine Department at the Center. In addition, it made recommendations for the role that the Oriental Medicine Department can play in the formation of a combined system of Western and Oriental medicine. Thus, the study can facilitate the construction of a combined system of Western and Oriental medicine through the Oriental Medicine Department at the Center in December 2010. Conclusion It is possible to realize patient-centric treatment procedure under the stable and efficient combination of Western and Oriental medicine through the establishment of an Oriental Medicine Department at the Korean National Rehabilitation Center. Such a cooperative system should involve a complete understanding of Western and Oriental medicine and should not be restricted to limited information sharing.

  • In these days everyone search the information easily with the Internet as the rapid distribution and active usage of the Internet. The search engines were developed specially to accuracy of information retrieval. User search the information more quickly and variously with them. The search portal system will be embossed with representation and basic services. The Internet user needs the result of text, image and video, knowledge search. The keyword based search is used generally for getting result of the information retrieval and another method is category based search. This paper investigates the classification of knowledge search structure for oriental medicine in market leader of search portal system by ranking web site. As a result, each classification system is unified and there is a possibility of getting up a many confusion to the user who approaches with classification systematic search method. This treatise proposed the improved oriental medicine classification system of internet information retrieval in knowledge search area. if the service provider amends about the classification system, there will be able to guarantee the compatibility of data. Also the proper access path of the knowledge which seeks is secured to user.

  • Objectives: In this study, diagnosis of an ontology-based electronic chart system works by presenting a model electronic chart system is contributing to the standardization and objectification in Oriental Medicine field. Methods: The clinic is currently used in the electronic chart, and use surveys and research utilization was diagnosed. In addition, the symptoms with medicines, prescriptions, patterns ontology data, information, relationships between the association was derived. electronic chart the flow of information from the input data stream was defined using the ontology. Medicines, prescriptions, patterns diagnosis ontology, using the process model presented in the electronic chart. Results: This study show that interoperable model within the diagnostic capabilities of the electronic chart system in Oriental Medicine and represent diagnosis process in the system with symptoms. Conclusions: Diagnosed with symptoms of ontology integration with electronic chart to study the model was placed goal. Diagnosis and prescription due to strong associative connection implies an ontology can be seen even more important. Diagnostic elements will be added to enhance the diagnostic capabilities in the electronic chart can be varied and objective diagnostic model can be presented. This study extends the range for the CDSS, and new areas of research can be presented.

  • We in this paper proposed a distinction method to compare objects in the Korean medicine ontology. Comparing same and different information between two objects, two scenarios to use our system were designed and implemented. One is the distinction of formulas, medicinal materials, and acupuncture points and the other is the distinction of effects, treatments, and symptoms. To compare objects easily, the decomposition of effects and treatments and the processing of medicinal materials were provided. Also, information of each object was shown through the link to the semantic search system. Our distinction method and system could be helpful to compare and distinct two objects in the diagnosis systems or search systems of Korean medicine information.

  • Expert systems for health diagnosis are only for medical experts who have deep knowledge in the field but we need a self-checking pre-diagnosis system for preventive public health monitoring. Korea Traditional Medicine is popular in use among Korean public but there exist few available health information systems on the internet. A computerized self-checking diagnosis system is proposed to reduce the social cost by monitoring health status with simple symptom checking procedures especially for Korea Traditional Medicine users. Based on the national reports for disease/symptoms of Korea Traditional Medicine, we build a reliable database and devise an intelligent inference engine using fuzzy c-means clustering. The implemented system gives five most probable diseases a user might have with respect to symptoms given by the user. Inference results are verified by Korea Traditional Medicine doctors as sufficiently accurate and easy to use.

  • we developed an information management system that manages various types of medical information such as text, image, sound, and laboratory data. We also developed a multimedia description system, in which medical doctors can describe his findings and interpretations with text and speech. The descriptions include the references to the data items stored in the information management systems. The communication between the description system and the information management systems is carried out using OLE/COM mechanism. The information management system was implemented by using Microsoft Open Data Base Connectivity(ODBC).

  • In order to achieve the growth of traditional Chinese medicine, the chinese government has annually released "China Statistical Yearbook of Chinese Medicine" to the world since "State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the People's Republic of China" established in 1988. It is believed that the chinese government intends to secure the early dominance of the global medical market by systematic management of its own medicine infrastructures. Although the statistics of "China Statistical Yearbook of Chinese Medicine" weren't systematically organized at the beginning, it has becoming richer, more systematic, and more standardized in the data construction and system as time has passed. Furthermore, we can take a look at China's effort to take the initiative of oriental medicine by expanding investment in several core areas - medicine resources, operation of medical instruments, service, medicine education, medicine science research, and working expenses. This article will show how china has been trying to develop the chinese medicine, focusing on two parts. One is specific analysis of the book "China Statistical Yearbook of Chinese Medicine". It is divided into analysis of its construction system, the degree of data construction, and its statistical system. The other is analysis of annual changes in areas of medicine resources, operation of medical instruments, service, medicine education, medicine science research, and working expenses.

  • Although the theory of Sasang Consititution is widely used in oriental clinic, there is only conceptual definition about the constitution not technical definition which is consented by every experts. In the present, the effect and different responses of constitutional medicines is the most widely accepted criteria among technical definitions. However, these medicines consist of several herbs which are included specific constitution. So, it is hard to define the characters about the Sasang Constitution through analysis of the medicines. In this paper, we collected the various information about the constitutional herbs, and constructed database and web application for accessing this information. It is useful and can be basis for finding the characteristics of constitutional medicines.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this review is to analyse the trends of clinical studies using oral appliance in Korean Medicine. Methods: We reviewed Korean Medicine papers by searching Korean web databases 'Korea Traditional Knowledge Portal (KTKP)', 'Korea Medical Information Portal (OASIS)', 'Academic Research Information Service (RISS)', 'Scientific and Technological Information Integration Service (NDSL)'. We classified the papers by the year of publishment, the title of journals, the type of study and contents. Results: 1. Clinical studies using oral appliance have been increasingly published since 2011. 2. Most of the studies were published in the Journal of TMJ Balancing Medicine. 3. 33 research papers were divided in to 6 original articles, 27 case reports. But almost presented a low level of evidence. 4. In the content of the studies, oral appliance were used for various diseases such as nervous system, musculoskeletal system and visceral system. Conclusions: We expect that various studies and clinical application will be actively carried out with the development of technology related to oral appliance.

  • Recently, the Korean Pharmaceutical Association has a public service advertisements for medicinal misusing prevention and environment protection by medicinal substances. And the cost and procedure complexity was increased by specialization of dispensary and medical practice. To overcome this situation, we have use for medicine information system. Ubiquitous and convergence technology have become trends in the IT field. In this paper, we designed prototype of medicine information system and drug image searching based on mobile for management and prevention of medicinal misusing using IT technologies.
