  • The medical records of diagnostic and testing information include sensitive personal information that reveals some of the most intimate aspects of an individual's life. The hospital information system (HIS) operates in a state of high risk which may lead to the possible loss to the IS resources caused by various threats. This research addresses twofold : (1) to perform asset identification ad valuation and (2) to recommend countermeasures for secure HIS network using case studies This paper applied a risk management tool CRAMM (Central Computer and Tele-communications Agency's Risk Analysis and Management Method) to assess asset values and suggest countermeasures for the security of computerized medical information of two large hospitals in Korea. CRAMM countermeasures are recommended at the reference sites from the network security requirements of system utilized for the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The results of the study will enhance the awareness of IS risk management by IS managers.

  • Due to the recent rapid industrialization worldwide, the number of pediatric asthma patients is increasing. And the fine dust containing heavy metals is linked to the characteristics of high toxic lead due to the increase heating in factory operation and automobile driving. It is the reason of arsenic increasing. In the treatment of pediatric asthma patients, drug administration, oral drug entry, and HMPC (Home Management Plan of Care) are used. In this paper, we analyze the relationship between the onset of asthma and the method of prescription for specific childhood asthma in the United States using EM (Expectation Maximization) and MDL (Minimum Description Length) algorithms. And the association is also analyzed by comparing the nature of specific congestion between the past prevalence of digestive asthma and the recent prevalence of environmental pollution.

  • China and South Korea have effectively reached a free trade agreement. The deal now faces legal and parliament reviews in the two countries. We need to discuss the recommendations on XML conversion with UN / CEFACT electronic documents. To solve this problem of interworking between these standards, Two kinds of translation rules is proposed for exchanging to UN / CEFACT Tag smoothly. For development and distribution of electronic documents to be conformed to international standards, it is enough to have the role of international activities continue to supply part of the domestic industry and the trends in participation and international standard. Our principal focus is on facilitating national and international transactions, through the simplification and harmonization of processes, procedures and information flows, and so contributing to the growth of global commerce. The agreement with South Korea will be China's ninth bilateral FTA.

  • Internet was once used to link ideas, then people and now it is starting to connect all things. IoT constitutes a good paradigm to enable people to design and modify things, and then share their designs and modifications. Through the internet, things nowadays are able to exchange raw data and information, thus enabling the development of a new class of interconnected smart objects. Smart building block toy systema are a newly proposed concept that combines internet technology into educational blocks. It is composed of the IoT environment that has attracted attention recently. In this paper, we design a system using starUML, one of the program development tools in the system design process. Educational content can be shared to learners via the proposed service of the IoT, while also being interesting for young child learners.

  • Ethylene oxide gas has been used as a cold sterilant for heat-sensitive medical equipments and as a fumigant for food for more than 30 years, and it is used more widely than radiation although radiation sterilization has made significant inroads in recent years. But according to recent studies of toxicities such as mutagenicity, haemolytic effect and possible carcinogenicity of Ethylene oxide (ETO) and its two main reaction products, Ethylene chlorohydrin (ETCH) and Ethylene glycol (ETG), Environmental Protection Agency in U.S.A. has suggested some regulations on residual gas in drug products and medical devices for human use. The mutagenic activity of ETO compared with that of X-ray has an equivalency of 1 ppm/hr for ETO as compared to 20 mrad for X-ray, and one could suggest the present maximum allowable concentration for ETO (50 ppm) should be 400 times lower than the radiation standard (2.5 mrad/hr). Although radiation sterilization has advantages of simplicity of operation and complete reliability, changes of physico-chemical properties with possible formation of toxic substances may occur. It is therefore necessary to make some regulations of our own for residual toxicities orginated from each sterilization method.

  • Effective interventions to reduce work-related exposures are available for many types of work-related diseases or injuries. However, knowledge of the impact of these interventions on injury or disease outcomes is scarce due to practical and methodological reasons. Study designs are considered for the evaluation of occupational health interventions on occupational disease or injury. Latency and frequency of occurrence of the health outcomes are two important features when designing an evaluation study with occupational disease or occupational injury as an outcome measure. Controlled evaluation studies-giving strong indications for an intervention effect-seem more suitable for more frequently occurring injuries or diseases. Uncontrolled evaluation time or case series studies are an option for evaluating less frequently occurring injuries or diseases. Interrupted time series offer alternatives to experimental randomized controlled trials to give an insight into the effectiveness of preventive actions in the work setting to decision and policy makers.

  • This study attempts to provide basic data for the development of manpower maintenance programs by checking the degree of job stress and emotional burnout for nurses working in a university hospital and identifying factors affecting emotional burnout. Data were obtained through a structured questionnaire survey conducted on 187 nurses. The average score for job stress of nurses was 2.50 (range 1 to 4) and emotional burnout was 3.29 (range 1 to 5). The factors affecting emotional burnout were occupational climate, job demand, job insecurity, and lack of reward, which accounted for 44% of explanatory power. In order to reduce the emotional burnout of nurses, the management of medical institutions needs administrative and financial support. Further, it is necessary to improve the organizational culture regarding job assignment through job analysis, employment security, and a performance-based reward system.

  • The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has led to a flood of research papers and the information has been updated with considerable frequency. For society to derive benefits from this research, it is necessary to promote sharing up-to-date knowledge from these papers. However, because most research papers are written in English, it is difficult for people who are not familiar with English medical terms to obtain knowledge from them. To facilitate sharing knowledge from COVID-19 papers written in English for Japanese speakers, we tried to construct a dictionary with an open license by assigning Japanese terms to MeSH unique identifiers (UIDs) annotated to words in the texts of COVID-19 papers. Using this dictionary, 98.99% of all occurrences of MeSH terms in COVID-19 papers were covered. We also created a curated version of the dictionary and uploaded it to Pub-Dictionary for wider use in the PubAnnotation system.

  • The use of holographic standardized patient (HSP) with mixed reality can provide students with the opportunity to enhance clinical reasoning skills. This is still relatively new, so there is a lack of guidelines for educators. Thus, we aimed to develop the instructional model of HSP-based education, for enhancing clinical reasoning skills in undergraduate healthcare education, which could systematically guide educators in designing and implementing HSP-based teaching and learning activities appropriately. Using a design and development research, a theoretically constructed initial mode in this study was iteratively improved and underwent validation through expert review and model usability test. Features of the model were discussed, along with theoretical and practical implications and suggestions for further research.
