Purpose: Nursing protocols for glucose management are well known for both healthy term newborns and high-risk newborns. However, for less risky newborns who are under only observation surveillance, hypoglycemia could be overlooked unless clinical symptoms develop. Methods: A retrospective study was performed to explore factors influencing variations in glucose levels in 91 newborns who did not require any interventions, but were under nursing surveillance, at a level II neonatal intensive care unit. Data were retrieved from electrical medical records on glucose levels, demographic characteristics, and other clinical characteristics of newborns in their first day of life from January 2016 to May 2019. Results: Glucose levels tended to stabilize within the normal range (60~80 mg/dL) as time passed during the first day of life. Cesarean section, multiple gestation, abnormal growth, and later preterm birth were associated with low glucose levels in the first 2 hours of life. Thirty-one newborns experienced a hypoglycemic episode (< 45 mg/dL) during the first 24 hours of life. Conclusion: The findings of this study support the active encouragement of early feeding within 2 hours of birth and urgent adoption of a structural protocol for glucose surveillance in newborns with potential health problems immediately after birth.
Purpose: This is a descriptive study to provide basic material that enables to prevent industrial hospital nurses from occupational stress, health problems and work impairment by understanding their work environment, stress, Presenteeism and correlation among them. Method: The subjects for this study consists of 272 industrial hospital nurses who have attended the training conducted by KAOHN from October to December 2009 and recognized the purpose of this study and agreed to participate. The questionnaire included Korean Version of Occupational Stress questionnaire developed by S.J. Chang and Stanford Presenteeism Scale questionnaire translated by Y.M. Lee. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheff$\acute{e}$ test and Pearson's correlation coefficient with SPSS/WIN 17.0. Result: The industrial hospital nurses get much more stress than the average in three fields of occupational stress: interpersonal conflict, job insecurity and occupational climate. The study shows in particular, the age group of twenties with one to three year work experience having higher than any other groups in occupational stress, work impairment and perceived productivity of Presenteeism. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop management for these groups of nurses. In addition, institutional support and policy should be rendered to secure job conditions so that occupational stress can be relieved from these nurses and to prevent work impairment in advance as occupational stress has substantial correlation with health problems, work impairment and perceived productivity of Presenteeism.
Alcohol consumption is a major source of health problems, for example, alchol consumption is related to liver diseases. In addition, the social and economic costs related to alcohol consumption are enormous. This study was conducted to evaluate the current status and influencing factors related to the recognition and behavioral intention for both drinking and alcohol-reduction programs. Three effective alcohol-reduction programs of clinic program, mass education, and alliance were considered. To explain the health behavior for drinking and alcohol-reduction programs, a five-stage behavioral intention model was built and 500 questionnaires were completed through a telephone survey. Stages of the model composed of recognition of the programs, past experiences, present drinking status, intention for drinking, and behavioral intention for alcohol-reduction programs. As a result, recognition rates of the programs were low in general, therefore the strategies of education, public relations, and advertisement need to be pursued. The alcohol dependency resulted in the fact that success rate was 30% although trial rate of alcohol-reducing was 23%. The necessity of alcohol-reduction programs were suggested. In addition, significant factors related to the intention for alcohol-reducing were individual attitude and reluctancy to pay their time and money. An insignificant factor was the attitude to their alcohol-reduction by other people. Behavioral intention rates for alcohol-reducing clinics were 4%, and those for mass education were 8%. There were very low purchase rates for clinic program, mass education, and alliance. In conclusion, evidenced-based and effective alcohol-reduction programs need to be encouraged to drinkers by medical doctors, and the strategies of education, public relations, and advertisement are also recommended. In addition, continuing legal and systematic support for alcohol-reducing would lower the drinking rate and ultimately contribute to the nation's health promotion.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of K-WIFY model that was a participatory health education program. Based on WIFY, this study developed K-WIFY that was only focused on health related issues rather than all broad ranges of life issues. This study evaluated changes in health related recognition, self-efficacy, self-esteem, social support, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, and situational barriers of the subjects after participating the program. Methods: During from March 16 to April 1, 2004, 216 study subjects of university students were subjected to a quantitative survey and 187 subjects of the total subjects were exposed to qualitative survey. Results: The results were as follows: 1. Health related perceptions were statistically different after taking participatory a health education program using K-WIFY. The amount of improvement was 6.36. 2. After participatory health promotion education using K-WIFY, self-efficacy(p=.029), self-esteem(p=.019) and perceived benefits(p=.031) were statistically higher than before. Conclusions: In conclusion, this study verified the effectiveness of participatory health education promotion using K-WIFY. We recommend K-WIFY to national and regional health promotion plans and health promotion education for university students.

Obesity of adolescents causes mental and physical problems as well as social problems, which need prevention and management. Although a number of systematic reviews and meta-analyses on obesity programs for adolescents were conducted, there is no study evaluating the programs based on CCM(Chronic Care Model), an organizing framework for improving chronic illness care. This study was conducted to review the features of studies in obesity management programs and interventions of the selected studies were evaluated in terms of inclusion of components of the Chronic Care Model. 4 databases were searched for relevant studies in obesity management programs, which were published from 1994 to 2014 in Korea. Results were analyzed in a qualitative way. 14 studies were satisfied inclusion criteria. The interventions most frequently utilized the elements of self-management support(66.7%) and only 1 of the studies included more than three components of CCM. This study presents the direction of health policies about managements of metabolic syndrome, which means that we identified effective process of the obesity management programs for adolescents in Korea and also this study will be used as a basic information for the development of obesity management program.

Taxonomy of human brain activity is a complicated rather challenging procedure. Due to its multifaceted aspects, including experiment design, stimuli selection and presentation of images other than feature extraction and selection techniques, foster its challenging nature. Although, researchers have focused various methods to create taxonomy of human brain activity, however use of multivariate pattern analysis (MVPA) for image recognition to catalog the human brain activities is scarce. Moreover, experiment design is a complex procedure and selection of image type, color and order is challenging too. Thus, this research bridge the gap by using MVPA to create taxonomy of human brain activity for different categories of images, both colored and gray scale. In this regard, experiment is conducted through EEG testing technique, with feature extraction, selection and classification approaches to collect data from prequalified criteria of 25 graduates of University Technology PETRONAS (UTP). These participants are shown both colored and gray scale images to record accuracy and reaction time. The results showed that colored images produces better end result in terms of accuracy and response time using wavelet transform, t-test and support vector machine. This research resulted that MVPA is a better approach for the analysis of EEG data as more useful information can be extracted from the brain using colored images. This research discusses a detail behavior of human brain based on the color and gray scale images for the specific and unique task. This research contributes to further improve the decoding of human brain with increased accuracy. Besides, such experiment settings can be implemented and contribute to other areas of medical, military, business, lie detection and many others.
It is well defined that osteoporosis is an age related disorder and associated with decreased bone mass. It is one of the most important disease lacing the aging population because of its association with fracture of the hip, vertebrae and distal radius. The disease provoke a significant economic burden and major public health problem of an elderly. The life-time risk of hip fracture in white women is approximately 15% which is equal to the combined risk of breast, uterine, and ovarian cancer. Despite its deleterious effect on women's health, knowledge of the epidemiology of osteoporosis in Korea is only beginning. 1970 in Korea has non as the crossover period between the chronic and an Infectious diseases. As the result, the infant mortality declined and an elderly population in Korea increased significantly in the past decade, The average life expectancy of women in Korea is now about 75 years. Thus, the majority of Korean women will spend approximately one-third of their life in the postmenopause state. Therefore, better understanding of bone metabolism and fracture incidence in Korean population is a great interest for the medical community as well as for public health. Currently, no population based epidemiologic data are available to support the incidence of osteoporotic fractures in Korea. However, available data suggest that significant declining of bone mineral density (BMD [g/$cm^2$]) has been occurring in Korean women after menopause. In same population, peak BMD was observed around 33-39 years of age and continue to decline thereafter. An accelerated bone losses occur after the menopause and the average loss is approximately 13% within 15 years from the menopause. The incidence of fracture was highly correlated with an age and bone mineral density. The mean age of menopause in Korean women was 47 years and this age appears to getting younger when analyzed by the birth cohort. An earlier menopausal age and increase life expectancy place Korean women at increase risk for osteoporosis and bone fracture. Korean or Asian women are no longer protected from the risk of bone fracture. Therefore, an early prevention or intervention schemes are essential before the outbreak of osteoporosis and/or fracture occurs in Korean or Asian women.

This study aims to investigate chemotherapy-induced neutropenia, nutritional status and both relation of patients with acute myeloid leukemia during 1st consolidation chemotherapy and the therapy-related cytopenic phase in order to determine more effective nutritional support. We review medical records of total 54 cases received first consolidation chemotherapy on P hospital in Busan. The duration of neutropenia(Absolute Neutrophil Count<$1000/{\mu}{\ell}$) is mean 14.78 days, neutropenia occur on mean 10th(9.54) day of chemotherapy(D10). The nutritional parameters of total protein, body weight, BMI showed no significant interval change during chemotherapeutic cycle except albumin, cholesterol. The neutropenia wasn't dependent on general factor of gender, age, comorbidities, Body Surface Area(BSA). The correlation wasn't revealed between neutropenia and nutritional status. In conclusion, although nutritional status didn't affect neutropenia, this study provides detailed information on the neutropenic response of acute myeloid leukemia patients during induction chemotherapy.
Oriental public health programs have been introduced for the purpose of providing comprehensive oriental health care services to community people including vulnerable classes, increasing the accessibility of oriental medicine and the public benefit, and further more elevating the health promotion and the quality of life of community people. Promoting these programs since 2002 in earnest, it is evaluated that it has made a lot of performances. In the other side, it showed many problems and policy issues also. This study is accomplished to analyze the problems made since the system was introduced and until now, 2007, and with this analysis, to examine policy issues and the reasonable recommendations for its development Major problems are as follows. First, fundamental notions and identity of oriental public health programs are not positioned accurately. Second, the infra-structure construction for effective propulsion of business is insufficient. Third, it is short of the capacity for program implementation of oriental public health doctors, related manpower, and health centers. Fourth, oriental health promotion programs that can fulfill the various health needs of community people are deficient. Fifth, active aid of the government and the oriental medical world as well as legal and systematical support for oriental public health programs is insufficient. As a result, to solve the problems and induce the successful settlement of the program, the policy recommendations such as (i) the fundamental notions of the program and establishment of approach strategies, (ii) reinforcement of the foundation of the program implementation, (iii) capacity enhancement of the manpower of the program implementation, and (iv) effective building of supportive system of the program are presented.

Literature indicates an increased risk of suicide among women who have had cosmetic breast implants. An explanatory model for this association has not been established. Some studies conclude that women with cosmetic breast implants demonstrate some characteristics that are associated with increased suicide risk while others support that the breast augmentation protects from suicide. A systematic review including data collection from January 1961 up to February 2014 was conducted. The results were incorporated to pre-existing suicide risk models of the general population. A modified suicide risk model was created for the female cosmetic augmentation mammaplasty candidate. A 2-3 times increased suicide risk among women that undergo cosmetic breast augmentation has been identified. Breast augmentation patients show some characteristics that are associated with increased suicide risk. The majority of women reported high postoperative satisfaction. Recent research indicates that the Autoimmune syndrome induced by adjuvants and fibromyalgia syndrome are associated with silicone implantation. A thorough surgical, medical and psycho-social (psychiatric, family, reproductive, and occupational) history should be included in the preoperative assessment of women seeking to undergo cosmetic breast augmentation. Breast augmentation surgery can stimulate a systematic stress response and increase the risk of suicide. Each risk factor of suicide has poor predictive value when considered independently and can result in prediction errors. A clinical management model has been proposed considering the overlapping risk factors of women that undergo cosmetic breast augmentation with suicide.
