The medical library, as a professional information center in relation to medical examination and treatment, research, and medical administration, should be operated under the rational and efficient library management. In that context, this study examines the theoretical underpinnings of the medical library management, and compares and analyzes, through direct visits, webpages, and statistical data, the current library operation of medical libraries in Seoul. This study also tries to make a managemental framework for the medical library by suggesting and discussing the result of this research.

In this study, the medical library in the hospital was investigated on the overall operation status of the service target, books, facilities, environment, staff, service, etc., and the librarian in question conducted a demand survey and recognition survey of the library, and proposed a plan to activate the medical library in the hospital in the future. As a result, first, to increase the status of the library by the medical library in the hospital performing its role and improving the quality of the library's service, it should be divided into the independent organization in the organization. Second, it is necessary to establish legal standards for collection, size, and manpower for medical libraries in hospitals. Third, in order to systematically manage medical libraries in hospitals, professional librarians should be supported and personnel should be recruited so that library-specific tasks and administrative tasks can be distinguished. Fourth, it seems that policies to support the medical library in the hospital, such as budget support at the national level, librarian specialization education, development of operation guidelines, network activation with other libraries are needed.

This study examines the status of websites operation among libraries affiliated to the Korean Medical Library Association, compares and analyzes website menu organization and information service contents of 29 medical libraries that currently run websites. The followings are results of this study. 1) the main menu of medical library websites is arranged with 'Search for Library Materials, Electronic Resources, Library Service, My Library, Library Guide, and the Bulletin Board.' 2) 15 services were selected as the main information service provided from the medical library website. 3) the information service that was provided from the most institutions was 'Document Copy/ Interlibrary Loan,' followed by 'Loan Reservation/Renewal, Request Library Purchase Book, Off-campus Access, User Education, Reference Resources, Q&A Board, Our Library Pubmed, and Dissertation Submission' in this order.

Considering the need for quality health information and resultant health care services in any society, this study was carried out to look into the status of library and information resources and services provided by medical libraries in Enugu State, Nigeria. The main objective of the study was to find out the information resources and services available for medical library users towards quality health care provision. Five (5) medical libraries of major teaching hospitals were used for the study with 980 registered users as the study population from where 245 users were sampled. Observation checklist was used to collect data on resources while questionnaire was used to collect data from the respondents on the services provided. The Medical Library Association Standard guided the analysis of data from observation while frequency counts and mean scores were used to analyze data from the questionnaire. Major findings showed that even though some of the required resources and services are available and provided the medical libraries, most of the required resources and services are not adequately provided by these libraries.

In this study, by extracting all relevant types of libraries in the medical field and analyzing their concepts, the research was to clearly define the names and concepts of libraries related to the medical field being mixed and used, to identify types of library, and to draw related legal improvements. The results of the study are as follows: First, the concepts of libraries in the medical field were organized and the types and relationships between libraries in the medical field were summarized. Second, criteria for currently absent hospital libraries are presented based on domestic and overseas research and standards. Third, In order to revitalize libraries related to medical fields in the future, it is necessary to investigate the actual conditions of libraries related to medical fields. Also, It proposed that public hospitals above the hospital level be made mandatory to set up hospital libraries first through national policy and expand services for patients and careers.

This study is to suggest the revitalization plan of the medical school libraries in the future, on the basis of analysis for the overall operation situation of the medical school libraries among the medical libraries. So based on the website, it is divided into 1) whether independent homepage exists, 2) service target, 3) books, 4) classification system, 5) manpower, 6) facilities (area, number of seats available), 7) equipment (pc, printer, copy machine, etc.), 8) services, and then analyzed. Consequently, as the ways to revitalize the medical libraries, firstly, it is necessary to establish legal standards and develop guidelines for the medical school library's books, sizes, librarians, etc. Secondly, establishing a cooperative community network between medical school libraries is necessary. Thirdly, policies such as support at the national level, specialization education of librarians, development of operational guidelines, and activation of inter-library networks are needed to revitalize the medical school libraries. It is also expected that research on the actual situation of the medical libraries should be conducted at the national level or at the level of the association of medical libraries.

The aim of this study is supporting efficient development of library collection and improvement of library service for users by analyzing utilization patterns of library collection using circulation statistics of medical library users. With this purpose, circulation statistics were extracted from 90,420 cases of circulation records in A library for recent 3 years (from 2012 to 2014). Specifically, circulation data categorized according to status and subject, loan data of most popular books and use data of inter-library loan service were collected and analyzed. Subject groups of this study are undergraduate students, graduate students and incumbent hospital employees including faculty members, training members and nondoctor members. For the result, medical library users intensively lent materials of Technology (Applied Sciences), Literature and Social science areas. Especially, the demand of the materials of literature was higher than the demand of the other subject areas compared in the base of collection development.

The Journals of medical libraries an the primary resources of medical library collections, and the majority of them are foreign journals. Recently, medical libraries have some difficulties in purchasing materials due to the rapidly increasing journal Vices and the curtailment in the budget. A proposal for the establishment of an information center for controlling Korean medical bibliographies was suggested. This system will be expected to contribute to the users for acquiring materials more effectively.

This study aims to develop more user-oriented information literacy education for medical libraries in Korea. For this purpose, we benchmarked some advanced models in and out of Korea, and examined a case of C medical library which is medium size in Korea. Especially, we looked into the actual condition of information literacy education of C medical library and the information need of its users. We suggested some ideas to construct the programs for information literacy education of medical libraries in Korea. Especially, we proposed some considerations, contents and flow for the programs. The results of this study can be useful references whenever each medical library in Korea will start or make up for its information literacy program.

Korean medical libraries have made interlibrary loan active under the korean medical library association since 1969, the sharing acquisition of journals has not been peformed efficiently in the absence of a bibliographic control institute. The medical library of seoul national medical university which is designated to a medical professional information center by korea education academy information developed MEDLIS linking the union catalog and interlibrary loan system and has been operating it in cooperation with the korean medical library association. Two types of questionaries were sent to 350 medical researchers and 160 medical librarians to investigate the realities of domestic and foreign medical information institutes, develop sharing systems and find a solution for sharing systems. Also, some analyses for the recent state of duplicate subscriptions, interlibrary loan, demands for system operations un the basis of the statistics of MEDLIS users were made. The result showed that medical researchers and medical librarians are affirmative for MEDLIS, users need a convenient interlibrary loan system and medical librarians agree to activate interlibrary loan. It also showed that sharing acquisition of journals seemed to be realizable for medical librarians, although there was no intention to improve the centralization of interlibrary loan among them. From the findings, a plan for sharing acquisition of journals established by the sharing acquisition committee under korea medical libraries society and national 8 local centers to play a key role in it was made. Also, a proposal for the establishment of an information center for controlling korean medical bibliographies was suggested. This system will be expected to contribute to make users to acquire materials more effectively and save the national budget.
