  • Background The posterior ledge (PL) is a vital structure that supports the implant posteriorly during orbital floor reconstruction. This study describes a technique for mapping the PL in relation to the infraorbital margin (IM) in patients with orbital floor blowout fractures. This study establishes the location of the optic foramen in relation to the PL. Methods Facial computed tomography (FCT) scans of 67 consecutive patients with isolated orbital floor blowout fractures were analyzed using Osirix. Planes of reference for orbital fractures, a standardized technique for performing measurements on FCT, was used. Viewed coronally, the orbit was divided into seven equal sagittal slices (L1 laterally to L7 medially) with reference to the midorbital plane. The distances of PL from IM and location of optic foramen were determined. Results The greatest distance to PL is found at L5 (median: 30.1 mm, range: 13.5-37.1 mm). The median and ranges for each slice are as follows: L1 (median: 0.0 mm, range: 0.0-19.9 mm), L2 (median: 0.0 mm, range: 0.0-21.5 mm), L3 (median: 15.8 mm, range: 0.0-31.7 mm), L4 (median: 26.1 mm, range: 0.0-34.0 mm), L5 (median: 30.1 mm, range: 13.5-37.1 mm), L6 (median: 29.0 mm, range: 0.0-36.3 mm), L7 (median: 20.8 mm, range: 0.0-39.2 mm). The median distance of the optic foramen from IM is 43.7 mm (range: 37.0- 49.1) at L7.

  • The fingerprint, which is one of the methods of indoor localization using WiFi, has been frequently studied because of its ability to be implemented via wireless access points. This method has low positioning resolution and high computational complexity compared to other methods, caused by its dependence of reference points in the radio map. In order to compensate for these problems, this paper presents a radio map designed algorithm based on the log-distance path loss model fusing a WiFi and BLE fingerprint. The proposed algorithm designs a radio map with variable values using the log-distance path loss model and reduces distance errors using a median filter. The experimental results of the proposed algorithm, compared with existing fingerprinting methods, show that the accuracy of positioning improved by from 2.747 m to 2.112 m, and the computational complexity reduced by a minimum of 33% according to the access points.

  • In this paper, we propose the bilateral filter based on median value that can reduce random noise and impulse noise with minimal loss of contour information. In general, EO / IR camera to generate a random or impulse noise due to a number of reasons. This noise reduces the performance of detecting and tracking by signal processing. To reduce noise, our proposed bilateral filter sorts the values of the target pixel and the peripheral pixels, and extracts a median filter coefficients of the Gaussian type. Then to extract the Gaussian filter coefficient involved with the distance between the center pixel and the surrounding pixels. As using those filter coefficients, our proposed method can remove the various noise effectively while minimizing the loss of the contour information. To validate our proposed method, we present experimental results for several IR images.

  • A vision algorithm is presented for the separation of near objects from distant objects. In the algorithm, a difference field of a stereo pair of images is computed to obtain the range information and the median filter is used for the suppression of distant objects. The objects within a given distance is segmented by thresholding the gray scale cross-section of the median filtered difference field. The experiment is performed in a laboratory setting.

  • A framework of using and integrating GIS and OR tools for determining the best site selection has been provided. In this research, we demonstrated that both the P-Median heuristic method and MIP method can be successfully applied to the optimum site selection problem of oil tank location selection. Furthermore, the results identified by both approaches are identical. To accomplish this, both GIS road and maritime networks have been constructed and combined to calculated the minimum distance matrix, which is required by both approaches. After the application to the Korean peninsula, the facility locations chosen are Kunsan, Yosu, Busan, and Okgye for each district. As has been shown, the power of GIS and both algorithm have been demonstrated throughout the research and further similar research can also be conducted using the power of GIS and Operations Research tools.

  • Objectives : To investigate the clinical results of patients who were diagnosed with grade II spondylolithesis treated with Korean medicine of relaxative Chuna and Gangchuk herbal medicine. Methods : We reviewed medical records of four patients diagnosed with grade II spondylolisthesis. Each patient has taken intensive Korean medical admission treatment at Mokhuri Hospital. All patients received treatments of Gangchuk herbal medicine, relaxative Chuna and acupuncture during admission period. Before treatment and every after 7-day treatment the patient's pain and walking distance without pain were assessed. The zero minimum to ten maximum pain numeric rating scale(NRS) was used to determine the degree of pain. Results : Average admission duration was 23 days. All the patients' NRS decreased from median figure of 7.5[the minimum 7 to the highest 8] to median figure of 1[the minimum 0 to the highest 2]. Walking distance without pain increased from a median of 55 m[the minimum 20 m to the highest 100 m] to median of 165 m[the minimum 100 m to the highest 250 m]. Conclusions : Intensive conservative korean medical treatment was effective in reducing pain and functional improvement for grade II lumbar spondylosisthesis patients.
