  • The meaning of the amendment to the Media Arbitration Act in our society is not limited to media companies. And it's not just a problem for a specific group. It expresses public value because it is an issue that can affect members of society as a whole and furthermore, it becomes a bill that can infringe or strengthen individual freedom guaranteed by the Constitution, but makes different arguments. Freedom of speech is not achieved in a day and should not be easily lost by someone. Although it is not a frequent problem, fatal threats arising from wrong media reports take away an individual's present and future. It is because of this problem that the responsibility is important. Freedom of speech and control are heading in different directions, but they are the same as the front and back of the coin. The freedom pursued is different, but it consists of one body. If freedom and responsibility of speech made up of one body criticize or ignore each other, the results are scattered into a distorted On the other hand, the flexion of responsibility without freedom serves as a speaker that conveys the ideology of some classes or represents the interests of a particular group. The fact that the media should act as the air of society means that it should represent the interests of the majority, make them aware of the rights of unfair or marginalized members, and be their strength.

  • Background: Visual inspection of cervix with acetic acid (VIA) is offered at 252 centers in 64 districts of Bangladesh. VIA+ve women are managed at colposcopy clinics of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) and 14 Medical College Hospitals (MCHs). This research work has been supported by 'UICC Cancer Prevention Campaign' programme. Objectives: This study explored the role of print materials and electronic media to improve cervical cancer screening in the present socio-cultural context of Bangladesh. Methods: This study was performed from January to August 2011 at two upazilas of Bangladesh (Singair with screening facility and Sonargaon without screening facility). Data were collected by focus group discussion (FGD) with women, husbands and community people before and after intervention. Information on cervical cancer screening and VIA camps was disseminated using advertisement through local cable line of the television, microphone announcement, service providers and leaflet throughout the week prior to a VIA camp. Three-day VIA camps were organized at the upazila health complex (UHC) of both upazilas. Quantitative data was gathered from women at the camps on source of information on VIA and the best method of awareness creation. Results: The population was aware of "cancer" and a notable number knew about cervical cancer. Baseline awareness on prevention and VIA was low and it was negligible where screening services were unavailable. Awareness was increased fourfold in both upazilas after interventions and half of the women and the majority of the community people became aware of screening and available facilities. Cable line advertisement (25.5%), microphone announcement (21.4%), and discussion sessions (20.4%) were effective for awareness creation on VIA. Television was mentioned as the best method (37.4%) of awareness creation. Conclusion: Television should be used for nation-wide awareness creation. For local awareness creation, cable line advertisement, microphone announcements and health education at Uthan Baithaks/ EPI sessions can easily be adopted by the government.

  • Providing personalized services customized to users' needs and preferences becomes highlighted as a key area of user-context computing. It is essential for context-aware technology to be developed more intelligent and meaningful services by being widely applied to a variety of sectors and domains. SDO (Standard Development Organization) such as MPEG and W3C has been actively developed to be standardized services and to improve context-awareness services. Yet current standards related to context-aware technology, such as MPEG-7, MPEG-21, MPEG-V, and emotionML, are not capable enough to support various systems and diverse services. Against this backdrop, the MPEG User Description, referred to also as MPEG-UD Standard, is to ensure interoperability among recommendation services, which take into account user's context when generating recommendations to users. In this light, we introduce standards related to the user context and propose the structure for RD-Engine and the Remote Responsive User Interface(RRUI) system in reference to MPEG-UD. This system collects unit resources matching specific condition according to the user's contexts described by MPEG-UD. In so doing, it improves adaptive user interface considering device features in real-time. By automatically generating adaptive user interfaces tailored to an individual's contexts, the proposed system aims to achieve high-quality user experience for a complex service.

  • Researchers in mobile AR systems have so far put the value on the technical challenges involved in the limitations imposed from mobility. Beyond such immediate technical questions, however, are questions regarding the possible contents that are to be used for the user’s interaction in ubiquitous computing environment. Various aspects of context of user and environment can be utilized easily as well as effectively. Moreover, the environment will be equipped with lots of pervasive but invisible computing resources. However, it is difficult for users to have access to those computing resources. At the same time, as the smart appliances get to have more features, their user interfaces tend to become harder to use. Thus, in this paper, we propose Context-Aware Mobile Augmented Reality (CAMAR) system. In our system, users only need to take a picture of smart appliances with a built-in camera in a mobile device when they intend to control the appliances. It lets users interact with the smart appliances through personalized control interfaces on their mobile devices. Also, it supports enabling contents to be not only personalized but also shared selectively and interactively among user communities.

  • In this paper, we propose a reliable high-speed UDP-based media transport with an adaptive error control. The proposed adaptive transport scheme controls the amount of redundancy by monitoring the network in order to adapt to network fluctuations efficiently. The feedback of receiver enables the sender to be aware of current reception status (i.e., rate and type of packet loss) and to estimate the expected network status. Based on this, the proposed transport attempts to enable reliable transport by adaptively controlling the amount of both whole sending rate and the ratio for adaptive FEC code. Experiment with high-speed network has been conducted to verify the performance of the proposed system that demonstrates the enhanced reliability of the proposed transport at the speed of up to several hundred Mbps.

  • We all know how beautiful our wild and it's importance to our living planet Earth. But did you realise the speed at which man himself is damaging it's unique natural habitat. We are well on our way to destroy our forests, plants, wetlands. We are polluting our oceans and seas. This way, we're driving numerous animal species, plant species and many others into extinction. Everyone should be aware of the importance of our natural environment. We live in the period of echocide. Why we need nature to survive and how we can deal with the environmental problems we face. This paper has the purpose to reform city's environment. Because, Metropolis and megalopolis are the principal cause of environmental disruption. To reform the city is needed to consider digital technology in our age. In the face of economic and cultural globalization, many have argued that we live an increasingly placeless world. However, as a growing number of cities participate and compete in key marketplaces of advanced capitalism, the spectacle of the city is more than ever a significant medium of communication in its own right. In doing so, this work is focused specifically on the dimension of city's media environment. To that end, the paper examined U-City and U-Eco city. In this study, we will introduce the study on model of U-Eco City as one way for the eco-freindly future city.

  • This study uses text mining compares and contrasts consumers' social media discourses on dietary related zero-waste movement before and after COVID-19. The results indicate that the amount of buzz on social networks for the zero- waste movement has been increasing after COVID-19. Additionally, the results of frequency analysis and topic modeling revealed that subjects associated with zero-waste movement were more diversified after COVID-19. Although the results of a sentiment analysis and word cloud visualization confirmed that consumers' positive responses toward the zero-waste have been increasing, they also revealed a need to educate and encourage those who are still not aware of the need for zero-waste. Finally, consumers mentioned only a small number of companies participating in zero-waste movement on SNS, indicating that the level of active involvement by such companies is much lower than that of consumers. Theoretical and educational implications as well as those for government policy-making are considered.

  • With the advance and proliferation of computer and wireless network technology, it is common to access to network through the wireless network using mobile device. The ratio of using the streaming media out of many applications through the network is increasing not only in the wired network but also in the wireless network. The streaming media is much bigger than other contents and requires more network bandwidth to communicate and more computing resources to process. However the mobile devices have relatively poor computing resource and low network bandwidth. If the streaming media service is provided for mobile devices without any consideration about the network bandwidth and computing power, it is difficult for the client to get the service of high quality. Since especially mobile devices are supported with very limited energy capacity from the battery, the streaming media service should be adjusted to the varying energy state of mobile devices to ensure the complete playback of streaming media. In this paper, we propose a new method to guarantee the complete playback time of the streaming media for the mobile clients by dynamically controlling transmitted frame rate to the client according to the estimated available time of mobile device using battery model reflecting the characteristic of the battery. Since the proposed method controls the number of frames transmitting to the client according to the energy state of the mobile device, the complete playback time is guaranteed to mobile clients.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of attribute agenda-setting and priming through content analysis and a survey about Particulate Matter($PM_{10}$ & $PM_{2.5}$) using both promotional news and general news. The study results were as follows. First, promotional news and general news were found to showcase similar cognitive attributes. Second, the results did not show a significant relationship between highlighted attributes in media coverage and the public's salient attributes, but media attributes had been generally reflected in the public's perception because the public was highly aware of the importance of all media attributes. Third, the recognition of the public's attribute importance affected the direction of public opinion, which resulted in the acceptance of priming effects. Meanwhile, the recognition of the public's attribute importance towards economic damage, international cooperation, individual response, and the recognition of promotional news had affected risk perception. Furthermore, the recognition of promotional news and involvement appeared to have an interaction effect on risk perception.
