A Synchronous Cooperative Communication for Emergency Alert Broadcast Based on Cellular Systems (이동통신 기반의 재난경보 방송을 위한 동기식 협력통신 방식)

  • The CBS methodology has been utilized in order to make a rapid broadcast of emergency alert based on cellular systems. We present a synchronous cooperative communication method for the CBS. Especially, we suggest a synchronization scheme and a data recovery approach for high-rate cooperative communications. For the high-rate transfer of emergency alert, the cyclic prefix is added to the preamble for the synchronization. For the data recovery, the Alamouti technique is utilized on frequency domain, which is similar to SC-FDE. The simulation results confirm that our proposed scheme is very suitable for the CBS.

  • 실시간 응용 프로그램은 미디어 데이터간에 만족되어야 할 동기화 제약조건(synchronization constraints)을 가지고 있다. 이러한 제약조건을 프리젠테이션 되어야 할 미디어 데이터간의 지연시간 및 서비스 품질을 나타낸다. 미디어 데이터간의 지연시간 및 서비스 품질을 효율적으로 표현하기 위해서는 이에 적합한 새로운 동기화 기법이 요구된다. 동기화 기법은 미디어의 재생시 끊어짐이 없는 유연한 재생을 처리하는 기법이다. 제안된 기법은 사용자 측면에서 엄격한 재생을 위하여 프레임을 생략하는 것보다는 부드러운 영화를 볼 수 있도록 유연한 재생 처리를 한다. MMSM(MultiMedia Synchronization Model) 모델의 동기화 기법은 종 미디어 스트림을 부드럽게 재생하는 결과를 나타내었다.

  • This thesis Proposes a media synchronization mechanism for video conferencing system by analyzing a variation of the delay time of media. Using this mechanism, this thesis analyzes the media traffics and determines the values of external variables important on waiting time. This system uses some dummy streams to get the time. When two hosts are initially connected, they change the dummy streams by which a logical time of the sender may be extracted. The time presenting a media stream is a sum of base time, logical time and the waiting time. At this time, for the purpose of optimally adjusting the waiting time, this mechanism uses the rate of updating the waiting time and the sampling unit of media. These values are acquired by analyzing the waiting times, the delay rates and the delayed arrival times.

  • In this paper we suggest multimedia synchronization model that is based on the Petri-net and services desirable quality of service requirement. Proposed model applies variable buffer which can be allowed, and then it presents high quality of service and real time characteristics. This paper decreases the data loss resulted from variation of delay time and from loss time of media-data by means of applying delay jitter in order to deal with synchronization interval adjustment. Plus, the mechanism adaptively manages the waiting time of smoothing buffer, which leads to minimize the gap from the variation of delay time. The proposed paper is suitable to the system which requires the guarantee of high quality of service and mechanism improves quality of services such as decrease of loss rate, increase of playout rate.

  • For interchange of multimedia informations and presentation as intented by objects composer, there are need to interchange format of informations and control synchronization between medias. And It is therefore need to provide a method and apparatus for synchroniztion control of multimedia objects which can control the conditional, temporal. and spatial synchronization in a MHEG engine developed to execute the functions defined as the international standards. In this paper. We propose to improved method and apparatus for synchronization control of multimedia objects which can execute the synchronized presentation by combining media data needed for presentation of multimedia information, and which enable the interactive processing between the user and the MHEG engine by allowing the user input to be processed during presentation.

A Study on the Influence of System Quality and Synchronization Factors for Learning Performance in e-Learning: The Mediating Effect of Learning Flow (e-러닝의 시스템품질과 동기화요인이 학업성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 : 학습몰입의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • Recently, the development of ICT(information & communications technology) with the advent of new media paradigm shift in learning has brought a dramatic impact on the competitiveness of universities. The previous studies on the academic performance of e-learning mainly targeted on e-learning users, studying additional synchronization and system quality factors to measure academic performance. This study empirically analyzed the learning flow and academic performance considering both DeLone & McLean model system quality and synchronizing factors based on ARCS model. Relating to quality and synchronization factors, the academic performance of e-learning system was tested, and the difference between learning flow and academic performance was also analyzed based on time-series data, by the test difference(in the beginning, during, and final of the semester). The results of the study are as follows. First, the study shows that both system quality and synchronization directly affected the learning performance. Thus, when designing e-learning system, it is necessary to consider these two factors at the same time. Second, the indirectly mediating effect on the system quality and synchronization factors turned out to be significant in learning flow. Third, the result of regression analysis on the contents of utilizing dummy variable presents that the teacher's explanation has greater influence than multimedia has to the academic performance, and furthermore, the test difference showed no significance. Further research should be undertaken to consider the learner's degree of acceptance which reflects various aspects for building m-learning or u-learning.

  • So far, almost all IP media services are targeted to the specific devices, for example, IPTV services are mainly for TV, and social community services are mainly for PC etc.. This paper describes newly developed media service platform in which the high quality video services can be provided not only to the TV or PC but also to the PMP(Portable Media Player) and even to the mobile phone. The major technical issues of the service platform are synchronization of contents among the different devices and high quality TV grade video display in PMP device. We confirmed successful operation of multi-device converged services in the developed media platform. We also have a trial service plan in Gwangju city at the end of this year.

  • Recently, dynamic proxy caching has been proposed on the distributed environment so that media objects by user's requests can be served directly from the proxy without contacting the server. However, it makes caching challenging due to multimedia large sizes, low latency and continuous streaming demands of media objects. To solve the problems caused by streaming demands of media objects, this paper has been proposed the grouping scheme with fuzzy filtering based on partition and mapping. For partition and mapping, this paper divides media block segments into fixed partition reference block(R$_f$P) and variable partition reference block(R$_v$P). For semantic relationship, it makes fuzzy relationship to performs according to the fixed partition temporal synchronization(T$_f$) and variable partition temporal synchronization(T$_v$). Simulation results show that the proposed scheme makes streaming service efficiently with a high average request response time rate and cache hit rate and with a low delayed startup ratio compared with other schemes.

  • In this paper, a real-time dual-mode temporal synchronization and compensation method based on a new reliability measure in stereoscopic video is proposed. The goal of temporal alignment is to detect the temporal asynchrony and recover synchronization of the two video streams. The accuracy of the temporal synchronization algorithm depends on the 3DTV contents. In order to compensate the temporal synchronization error, it is necessary to judge whether the result of the temporal synchronization is reliable or not. Based on our recently developed temporal synchronization method[1], we define a new reliability measure for the result of the temporal synchronization method. Furthermore, we developed a dual-mode temporal synchronization method, which uses a usual texture matching method and the temporal spatiogram method[1]. The new reliability measure is based on two distinctive features, a dynamic feature for scene change and a matching distinction feature. Various experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method. The proposed algorithms are evaluated and verified through an experimental system implemented for 3DTV.

  • In this paper, the efficient implementation technique of media processing part in the terrestrial and satellite DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) receiver is presented. To implement the unified multimedia Processor of DMB receiver, we investigated the characteristic of DMB service and the functionality of each processing part in the DMB receiver. To implement the synchronization between audio and video media, we present the general method to use the reference clock of the stream in the DMB receiver. Also we present the method to handle the bit error of the received bitstream within the wireless net work for robust media processor.
