A Study on the Transmission-tribology Design Based on Existing Problem of the Gear Drive and Tribology

  • We propose a new concept of transmission-tribology design based on the investigation of development and existing problems of the gear drive and tribology. The content of transmission-tribology and transmission-tribology design is probed. Some effective methods of transmission-tribology design is probed. Some effective methods of transmission-tribology design are put forward. Partial achievements in this research are introduced tersely. Mechanical transmission, which is represented by the gear drive, and tribology are two main branches of mechanical engineering. They have their own definite research field. In recent years, we have been doing our utmost to suggest combining mechanical transmission-tribology and transmission-tribology design. Partial achievements in this research area are obtained.

  • The transmission case has bearing loads, The case should be designed with more stiffness and lightweight under high external loads, In this study, we performed FEA(Finite Element Analysis) for the transmission case and performed topology optimization base on the results of FEA. We performed topology optimization with the control of the shape size which is the results of topology optimization and suggested the shaped of the transmission case of topology optimization.

  • Statistical simulation approaches are proposed to evaluate the shift feeling for a manual transmission. First, shift force simulator for the manual transmission is developed by considering the dynamic models of the external and internal linkage, synchronizer, and drivetrain. It is found that the shift force by the simulator shows a good correlation with the test results. Using the simulator, two kinds of statistical simulation approaches are proposed and the objective parameters that can be used to evaluate the shift feeling quantitatively are obtained. It is expected that the shift force simulator with the statistical approaches, developed in this study can be used as a useful design tool to evaluate the shift feeling in the initial design stage.

Decision of Lubricated Friction Conditions for Materials of Automobile Transmission Gear Using Neural Network

  • It is hard to inspect the state of lubrication of an automobile transmission visually. Thus, it is necessary to develop a new inspection method. Wear debris can be collected from the lubricants of an operating transmission of an automobile, and its morphology will be directly related to the friction condition of the interacting materials from which the wear debris originated in the lubricated transmission. In this study, wear debris in lubricating oil are extracted by membrane filter $(0.45{\mu}m)$, and the quantitative values of shape parameters of wear debris are calculated by digital image processing. These shape parameters are studied and identified by an artificial neural network algorithm. The results of the study may be applicable to the prediction and diagnosis of the operating condition of transmission gear.

  • A tooth profile modification for loaded gears is used to avoid a tooth impact. Since a tooth profile error causes amplification of the cumbersome whine noise in automotive gear transmissions, an optimal quantity of tooth profile modifications must be obtained for good performance in the vibration sense. In this paper, a tooth profile modification curve considering profile manufacturing errors and elastic deformation of the gear tooth is formulated; in addition, transmission errors of the gear system with modified teeth are verified. The equivalent excitation due to transmission errors is formulated. For experimental evaluation of the transmission error, the transmission error for a simple gear system was measured by two rotational laser vibrometers. Finally, we perform a comparative analysis between the calculated and measured responses to the excitations due to the transmission error to verify the practicability of the application to automotive transmissions.

농업용 트랙터 기반 소형 타워야더의 견인 성능 개선에 관한 연구 (Traction Performance Improvement Study on a Small-scale Tower Yarder Attached to a Farm Tractor)

  • 국내 임목수확작업에 사용되고 있는 트랙터 기반 소형 타워야더는 소경재 생산을 목적으로 개발되었으며, 중대경재 수확 체제로 변화함에 따라 견인 성능의 개선이 필요하다. 이 연구는 동력 전달방식을 기존의 기계식에서 기계 유압식으로 개선하여 타워야더의 최대 견인력을 비교·분석하였으며, 트랙터 엔진속도, 유압식 동력 전달 기구의 압력을 변수로 두고 견인 성능 실험을 실시하였다. 실험 수준은 트랙터 엔진속도(1,200, 1,400, 1,600, 1,800, 2,000, 2,200 rpm) 6수준, 동력 전달 기구의 압력(4.9, 6.9, 8.8 MPa) 3수준으로 선정하였다. 기존의 경우 최대 견인력은 엔진 회전속도 757 rpm에서 15,146.6 N의 최대견인력을 발휘하였으나 개선된 타워야더는 엔진 회전속도 1,575 rpm에서 36,140 N의 최대 견인력이 나타나, 최대 견인력이 2.4배 증가되었다. 이에 따라 중대경재 위주의 목재수확 현장에서 작업이 가능할 것으로 판단된다. 또한 기존 장비를 재활용하여 성능 개선함으로써 견인력이 큰 집재장비의 신규 도입 및 운영에 필요한 비용을 줄일 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Design of Neural Networks Model for Transmission Angle of a Modified Mechanism

  • This paper discusses Neural Networks as predictor for analyzing of transmission angle of slider-crank mechanism. There are different types of neural network algorithms obtained by using chain rules. The neural network is a feedforward neural network. On the other hand, the slider-crank mechanism is a modified mechanism by using an additional link between connecting rod and crank pin. Through extensive simulations, these neural network models are shown to be effective for prediction and analyzing of a modified slider-crank mechanism's transmission angle.

Electromagnetic Environment of Transmission Line Based on Full Parameter Online Estimation

  • The parameters of transmission lines have an influence on the electromagnetic environment surrounding the line. This paper proposes a method based on phasor measurement unit (PMU) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) to achieve online estimation of transmission line full parameters, such as resistance, reactance and susceptance. The proposed full parameter estimation method is compared with the traditional method of estimating resistance independently based on SCADA system. Then, the electromagnetic environment is analyzed based on the different parameter estimation methods. The example results illustrate that online estimation of transmission line full parameters is more accurate in the analysis of electromagnetic environment, which further confirms its necessity and significance in engineering application.

동적 구속조건을 적용한 자동변속장치의 효과적인 시뮬레이션방법에 관한 연구 (A study on the efficient simulation methods for an automatic power transmission system applying dynamic torque constraint)

  • Degree-Of-Freedom(DOF) for most power transmission system varies according to the operation status which consists of friction elements to change the power flow or to adjust the speed ratio such as clutches, brakes or one-way clutches. To simulate the dynamic characteristics of automatic power transmission system which is a typical example of such a variable DOF systems, many sets of governing equations and complicated phase decision routines are necessary. In this paper dynamic constraint theorem is derived explaining the torque transmission characteristics during the clutch engagement process and a robust stable algorithm is developed describing this phase transition phenomenon effectively by introducing the concept of direct torque and virtual damping. Finally, applying this algorithm to a passenger car automatic transmission gear consisting of several friction elements, an efficient simulation methods for such a complex system will be suggested that is very simple and systematic.
