Fault Tolerant Control of Magnetic Bearings with Force Invariance

  • A magnetic bearing even with multiple coil failure can produce the same decoupled magnetic forces as those before failure if the remaining coil currents are properly redistributed. This fault-tolerant, force invariance control can be achieved with simply replacing the distribution matrix with the appropriate one shortly after coils fail, without modifying feedback control law. The distribution gain matrix that satisfies the necessary constraint conditions of decoupling linearized magnetic forces is determined with the Lagrange Multiplier optimization method.

  • Conceptual system design of a multistage centrifugal air-compressor is the first loop of design procedure. The properly designed system is important for compactness, low manufacturing cost, easy controllability, fast extension for the new specification of the compressor. A simple procedure of conceptual system design is proposed in the present study using simple analysis. A few examples of the procedure for a real system are shown and several design aspects are discussed.

전개장치용 복합재료 테이프 스프링 개발 (Development of Composite Tape-Springs for Deployable Structures)

  • 본 논문에서는 전개장치용 복합재료 테이프 스프링 개발을 위해 테이프 스프링의 설계, 해석, 제작 및 기계적 특성을 검토하였다. 이를 위해 다양한 복합재료 소재를 선정하고 3개의 적층 패턴에 따라 제작하여 굽힘 시 파손여부를 구조해석과 실험적으로 검토하였다. 이중 파손이 발생하지 않고 잘 굽혀지는 소재와 적층 패턴을 선정하였다. 이렇게 확보된 정보를 이용해 전개구조물용 테이프 스프링을 개발하고 4점 굽힘 시험을 통해 구조적인 특성을 검토하였다. 시험 결과로부터 굽힘과 펴짐에 따라 모멘트-회전 곡선에서 테이프 스프링 고유의 비선형 히스테리시스 현상이 적절히 구현됨을 확인하였다. 따라서 복합재료 테이프 스프링이 적절히 개발된 것을 확인하였다.

소형 조파기 내의 조파생성에 대한 가시화연구 (Visualization Study of Wave Generation in Short-Distance Wave Maker)

  • 본 연구는 해상풍력발전을 위한 기초적인 연구로서 풍력타워에 가해지는 조파에 대한 타워의 거동을 해석하기 위한 장치를 구축하여 그 타당성연구를 하고자한다. 파고 발생이 수조 내부에서 적절히 만들어졌으며, 이를 고속카메라와 파고계를 이용하여 시간에 따른 인공적인 파고의 발생을 측정하였으며, 이때 조파기는 세 가지 주기에 따라 파고를 발생시켰다. 본 연구에서 최저 20mm에서 시작해서 최고 34mm까지의 파고를 만들어 낼 수 있는 조파수조를 설치하여 파고를 이용한 구조물과의 상관관계를 밝히는 데 큰 도움이 되었다. 고속카메라로 촬영한 가시화된 파고를 살펴보면 소파장치가 없을 때는 단순조화운동에 그쳤으나, 소파장치를 설치한 경우에는 진행파임을 확인할 수 있었다.

Study on The Preparation and Mechanical Properties of Fiberglass Reinforced Wood-Based Composite

  • To study mechanical properties of fiberglass reinforced wood-based composite (FRWC), fiberglass with a diameter of $20{\mu}m$ was selected to prepare test specimens. Mechanical properties of fiberglass reinforced wood-based composite were determined by three-point-bending test while its microstructure was characterizes by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results showed that mechanical properties of fiberglass reinforced wood-based composite were superior to that of the wood fiberboard based on the contrasting mechanical curves and the analysis of fracture mechanism. It is believed that the material design with this "sandwich" structure brings a unique buffering capacity of fiberglass into play in the composites. So the specimen did not produce a sudden fracture failure at high level of applied loads because it had a bearing ability. The SEM analysis showed that the working strength of PVAc adhesive was high; under a bearing force, it could properly transfer a load. In addition, glass fiber mesh and wood fiber board combined well.

이종 알루미늄의 FSW에서의 물질혼합에 관한 연구 (Mixing of Materials in FSW of Dissimilar Aluminum Alloys)

  • The mixing of two dissimilar aluminum alloys in friction stir welding (FSW) was investigated using etching. The results show that the materials from the retreating side mixed into the advancing side in rather narrow and elongated bands whereas the materials from the advancing side mixed into the retreating side in the form of thick bands and lobes. A computational method using smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) is introduced as a way to properly describe the complex mixing behavior in FSW.

  • The two-fluid model is widely used for practical applications involving multi-phase flows in chemical reactor, nuclear reactor, desalination systems, boilers, and internal combustion engine. There are several modeling terms in the two-fluid model, which must be determined properly. This study suggests the best models for turbulent vertical bubbly flow.

  • The work discusses the problems of modelling of the process of acoustic signal generation in machines. We have pointed out that in the task of minimizing of both moise and vibration, the key problem is identification of sources and paths of propagation, both in terms of their location and of definition of their characteristic features. Properly conducted identification makes possible the use of relatively simple mathematical models and this fact is particularly important for a broad application of the proposed methods in practice.

  • In order to evaluate the sound transmission loss of a structure, a large reverberation room described by ISO is generally used. ISO test method is however for architectural structures, which is not properly implemented for small mechanical structures, such as rolling stocks. In this paper, evaluation procedure for railway vehicle structures has been proposed.
