Tunability of Ba(Ti0.92Zr0.08)O3 Polycrystal Grown on Ceramic Seed by Floating Bone Technique (세라믹스 종결정 위에 Floating Zone Technique 법으로 성장한 Ba(Ti0.92Zr0.08)O3 다결정의 Tunability)

  • [ $Ba(Zr_{0.08}Ti_{0.92})O_3$ ] polycrystal was grown by floating zone technique with two ellipsoidal mirrors using the $8\%$of Zr-modified BZT ceramics as both a feed rod and a seed crystal. In order to study the annealing effect, a part of the grown crystal was sliced and annealed in the oxygen atmosphere at $1,200^{\circ}C$ for 10 h. The dielectric constant and loss at 10 kHz, 100 kHz, and 1 MHz were measured in the temperature range between $-100^{\circ}C$ and $150^{\circ}C$ to investigate the dielectric properties of the grown polycrystal. The electric-field dependence of the dielectric constant at 10 kHz and 100 kHz was studied by measuring the dielectric constants as a function of the biased-electric fields which ran from -15 kV/cm to 15 kV/cm. Due to the effect of annealing in the oxygen atmosphere, the electric-field tunability of dielectric constants increased from $47.5\%$ to 5 to and the figure of merit for this material from 39.6 to 46.4. Since the figure of merit can be increased to more than 46.4 by increasing the maximum value of the biased-electric fields to more than 15 V/cm, this material nay have a possibility for applications in microwave tuning devices at room temperature.

Properties of SiOCH Thin Film Bonding Mode by BTMSM/O2 Flow Rates (BTMSM/O2 유량변화에 따른 SiOCH 박막 결합모드의 2차원 상관관계 특성)

  • The dielectric characteristics of low-k interlayer dielectric materials was fabricated by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD). BTMSM precursor was evaporated and introduced with the flow rates from 16 sccm to 25 sccm by 1sccm step in the constant flow rate of 60 sccm $O_2$ in process chamber. Manufactured samples are analyzed components by measuring FT/IR absorption lines. Decomposition each Microscopic structures through two-dimensional correlation analysis about mechanisms for the formation of SiOCH in $SiOCH_3$, Si-O-Si and Si-$CH_3$ bonding group and analyzed correlation between the micro-structure of each group. It is a tendency that seems to be growing of Si-O-Ci(C) bonding group and narrowing of Si-O-$CH_3$ bonding group relative to the increasing flow-rate BTMSM. The order of changing sensitivity about changes of flow-rate in Si-O-Si(C) bonding group is cross link mode$(1050cm^{-1})$ $\rightarrow$ open link mode$(1100cm^{-1})\rightarrow$ cage link mode $(1140cm^{-1})$.

Thermophysical Properties of $UO_2$ Fuel Materials

  • A flash method for measuring the unknown thermal property (the density, specific heat, or thermal diffusivity could be chosen as unknown) is described. The thermal diffusivity of UO$_2$ fuel samples is obtained from room temperature (300 K) to high temperature (1400 K). The specific heat is measured using a commercially available differential scanning calorimeter from room temperature to 500 K. The thermal conductivity of UO$_2$ fuel samples is calculated from the density, thermal diffusivity, and specific heat at constant pressure. The present results are in complete agreement with the usual trends for the thermal conductivity of dielectric materials, in which impurity levels are very important at low temperatures but become relatively unimportant at high temperatures. In addition, the thermal diffusivity values at room temperature are reexamined by measuring the thermal diffusivity of several UO$_2$ fuel samples with same level of doped Gd$_2$O$_3$.

Characteristics of Transparent Mim Capacitor using HfO2 System for Transparent Electronic Device (투명전자소자를 위한 HfO2계 투명 MIM 커패시터 특성연구)

  • The effects of $HfO_2$ film thickness on electrical, optical, and structural properties were investigated. We fabricated ITO/$HfO_2$/ITO metal-insulator- metal (MIM) capacitor using transparent conducting oxide. When $HfO_2$ film thickness increase from 50 nm to 300 nm, dielectric constant of $HfO_2$ was decreased from 20.87 to 9.72. The transparent capacitor shows an overall high performance, such as a dielectric constant about 21 by measuring the ITO/$HfO_2$/ITO capacitor structures and a low leakage current of $2.75{\times}10^{-12}\;A/cm^2$ at +5 V. Transmittance above 80% was observed in visible region.

An Application of Artificial Dielectric Substrate for Design of Size-reduced Directional Couplers (방향성결합기의 소형화를 위한 가유전체 기판구조의 응용)

  • This paper describes the design of size-reduced directional coupler using the artificial dielectric substrate and its increased effective permittivity. Directional couplers are widely used in measuring RF power indirectly and coupling signal power. Artificial dielectric substrates have higher effective dielectric constant than standard dielectric substrate due to the lots of metalized via-holes, and the increased effective permittivity results in size-reduction of circuits. As a design example, 15dB directional couplers are designed on the standard substrate and artificial dielectric substrate and their size are compared. The size of the directional coupler using the artificial dielectric substrate is only 1/3 of that designed using the standard substrate, while the performances are preserved. In addition, the measured performances of the size-reduced coupler are well agreed with the simulated ones. The measured coupling coefficient, matching, and insertion loss at 2GHz are -14.62dB, -24.1dB, and -0.38dB, respectively.

  • The unit-water content has a very significant effect on the durability of the construction structure and the quality of concrete. Although there are various methods for measuring the unit-water content, there are problems of time required for measurement, precision, and reproducibility. Recently, there is an FDR sensor capable of measuring moisture content in real time through an apparent dielectric constant change of electromagnetic waves. In addition, various artificial intelligence techniques that can non-linearly supplement the accuracy of FDR sensors are being studied. In this study, the accuracy of unit-water content measurement was compared and evaluated using machine learning and deep learning techniques after normalizing the data secured in concrete using frequency domain reflectometry (FDR) sensors used to measure soil moisture at home and abroad. The result of comparing the accuracy of machine learning and deep learning is judged to be excellent in the accuracy of deep learning, which can well express the nonlinear relationship between FDR sensor data and concrete unit-water content.

Humidity Sensor Using an Air Capacitor

  • We studied the possibility that an air capacitor can be used as a humidity sensor by measuring capacitance change. In order to investigate the possibility, the change of capacitance of an air capacitor due to moisture in air was first considered theoretically, and was then experimentally verified. The capacitance was measured by an LCR impedance meter with a 100-kHz and 1-V ac. The results revealed that the changes in the experimentally measured capacitances were greater than those in the theoretically calculated values. Based on this fact, we knew that an air capacitor could be used as part of a humidity sensing device. We expect the humidity sensor with an air capacitor has characteristics of fast response time, high reliability, and high durability compared with other conventional methods.

  • 본 연구는 복소유전률 측정장치의 실현을 목표로 한 것이다. 본 장치는 인터페이스 유니트, 외부 RAM, 프로그래머블 카운터, D/A 콘버터, 측정회로, S&H 회로, A/D콘버터 및 기타 제어회로로 구성하였다. 컴퓨터에 의해 여러 종류의 파형이 디지털화하여 생성되며 4096워드의 외부 스태틱 RAM에 전송된다. 이와같이 RAM에 저장된 데이타는 D/A콘버터에 의하여 아날로그 전압파형으로 변환된다. 이 전압파형의 주파수는 클럭펄스에 의한 RAM의 읽기 속도에 좌우된다. 이와같이 생성된 전압파형이 유전체에 인가되며 이 인가전압과 함께 유전체의 응답전압이 샘플링되어 A/D콘버터에 의해 디지털 데이터로 변환된다. 컴퓨터는 응답전압 및 인가전압을 취하게 되며 마지막으로 복소유전률을 계산한다. 본 측정장치의 측정주파수 범위는 0.04Hz-10kHz이다.

Implementation of the Probe System with Respect to the Engine Oil States Inspection (엔진오일 상태점검을 위한 프로브 시스템 구현)

  • In this paper, in order to measure the degree of degradation using the reflection coefficient of the probe, the measuring circuit is designed. we put pulse signal into the probe and measure the reflected signal in the circuit. As the condition of engine oil degradation, we can see that the reflected signal was increased and as the engine oil temperature increases, a phenomenon shows that the degradated dielectric constant is decreased. Finally, the theoretical values and measured values of the reflection coefficients of the probe are analyzed.

  • We analyze the spherical-rectangular patch microstrip resonator with conformal surface by the cavity model and derive the formulas to calculate resonant frequency in the consideration of effective dielectric constant in order to minimize the errors of resonant frequency due to the fringing fields. A transmission type spherical-rectangular patch microstrip resonator operating at 3GHz, for example, is designed and fabricated on Epsilam-10 substate. Measuring data of resonant frequency and return loss are 2.985 GHz and -44.4dB respectively. Those well agreed with theoretical values.
