A Comparative Analysis between Manufacturing and Transactional/Service Processes of Six Sigma Quality Improvement (제조부문과 사무간접/서비스부문의 6시그마 프로세스 개선활동 비교분석)

  • There are big differences in six sigma projects between manufacturing processes and transactional/service processes. This paper analyzed the differences between the two areas by examining 18 six sigma case studies in Korean companies. To characterize six sigma case studies, step-by-step questions and check criteria were developed based on 12 step DMAIC methodology. On the basis of those characterized data, the differences between two areas were analyzed. Significant differences were found in the number of CTQs, validation of measurement systems, methods to determine improvement objectives, the methods to elicit improvement plans and types of control systems. The most significant difference was that statistical tools were widely used in manufacturing processes, but qualitative tools were used in transactional/service processes during improvement phase.

  • It is necessary to design th anti-vibration system of precision machinery for a sound operation and a quality assurance. However, in general. the allowable vibration limit is not well known. In the paper, the vibration criteria for foundation of vibration sensitive machinery is proposed and anti-vibration system is designed by using vibration measurement results of foundation. Also, the F.E. analysis is performed to verify the effectiveness of a designed anti-vibration system and to determine allowable dynamic load of machinery

  • This paper deals with the optimal filtering problem constrained to input noise signal corrupting the measurement output for linear discrete-time systems. The transfer matrix H$_2$and/or H$_{\infty}$ norms are used as criteria in an estimation error sense. In this paper, the mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ filtering Problem in lineal discrete-time systems is solved using the LMI approach, yielding a compromise between the H$_2$and H$_{\infty}$ filter designs. This filter design problems we formulated in a convex optimization framework using linear matrix inequalities. A numerical example is presented.

  • In order to increase the efficiency of thermoelectric refrigerators using the Peltier effect, it is necessary to optimize the distribution of the flow of cold air from the fan. In this study, the flow flowing upwards and downwards while changing the area of the flow path was visualized using the PIV technique for the control of cold air in a thermoelectric refrigerator. From these results, the flow rate according to the change in the area of the flow path was confirmed, and design criteria for optimizing the distribution of cold air flowing to the top and bottom of the refrigerator were suggested.

  • AAPM CT performance for special medical equipment quality control checks using a standard phantom for evaluation, using the evaluator's subjective assessment as to minimize errors due computerized assessment program to evaluate their usefulness.   • This paper proposes a calibration algorithm for a three-degree-of-freedom (DOF) planar cable-driven parallel robot (CDPR). To evaluate the proposed algorithm, we calibrated winches and an optical tracking sensor, measured the end-effector pose using the optical tracking sensor, and calculated the accurate robot configuration using the measurement information. To conduct an accuracy test on the end-effector pose, we followed guidelines from "Manipulating industrial robots - Performance criteria and related test methods." Through the test, it is verified that the position accuracy can be improved by up to 20% for a $2m{\times}2m$-sized planar cable robot using the proposed calibration algorithm.

  • This paper is concerned with the problem of setting controller's parameters when applying the intelligent PID (i-PID), which has recently been proposed and had many successful results, to the two-degree-of-freedom (2DoF) PID controller structure. Generally, the parameter settings of conventional PID controllers are known to be quite difficult and be dependent on the characteristics of the plants. In addition, it is less known how the two 2DoF parameters are set up for the improvement of transient characteristics. Here, we are going to present one of the criteria for parameter setting in the case of using a 2DoF i-PID, by evaluating the error signals to the set-point and disturbance. That is, we first, obtain parameters of i-PID by optimizing the disturbance responses, and then determine two parameters of 2DoF component through optimizing set-point response. The standard values of all parameters are calculated for the 7 types of test batches and rounded up as a table.

A Review of Research on Electroacupuncture for Female Stress Urinary Incontinence (여성 복압성 요실금에 대한 전침치료 연구 동향)

  • Objectives: The aim of this study is to establish a base for further research by reviewing studies on electroacupuncture (EA) for stress urinary incontinence (SUI). Methods: Clinical studies concerning the effects of EA for SUI, were obtained from Cochrane Library, PubMed, CNKI, RISS, NDSL, KISS and OASIS. Results: Forty-five studies met the criteria, which included 33 RCTs, 1 pilot RCT, 4 non-randomized Clinical Trials, 6 Case studies and 1 Orthogonal design study with 3638 patients. There was only one article published in Korea. In these study, the most common primary outcome measurement was the pad test. Most of the studies showed the group treated by EA effects compared to the control group. Also, many interventions that combined with EA were found and all complex therapy group had significantly better than control group. 7 studies observed adverse events (AEs), four of which referred to EA related AEs among them. And 4 studies reported no AEs associated with EA. Conclusions: Despite several limitations, various studies to prove limited yet effective EA on SUI provides much significance. Subsequent studies conducted by the complementary systematic review of the studies and well-designed clinical trials using the methodological quality will be needed to more firmly validate the therapeutic effect of EA on SUI.

  • Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research(KSTAR) device is composed of 30 superconducting magnets, magnet structure, vacuum vessel, cryostat, current feeder system, and etc. KSTAR device is operated in the cryogenic temperature and high magnetic field. We install about 800 sensors - temperature sensors, stain gages, displacement gages, hall sensors - to monitor the thermal, mechanical, electrical status of KSTAR during operation. As a tremendous numbers of sensors should be installed for monitoring the KSTAR device, the method of effective installation was developed. The sensor test was successfully carried out to check its reliability and its reproduction in the cryogenic temperature. The sensor signal is processed by PXI-based DAQ system and communicated with central control system via machine network and is shown by Operator Interface(OPI) display in the main control room. In order to safely operate the device, any violations of mechanical & superconductive characteristic of the device components were informed to its operation system & operator. If the monitored values exceed the pre-set values, the protective action should be taken against the possible damage. In this paper, the system composition, operation criteria, operation result were presented.

A Systematic Review of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Treatments for Nonspecific Chronic Neck Pain (비특이적 목 통증에 사용된 침구치료에 대한 체계적 문헌고찰)

  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to describe the details and to assess the clinical evidence of acupuncture and moxibustion for non-specific chronic neck pain. Methods : We searched seven databases including Korean, English, and Chinese databases through July 2016. Studies using acupuncture, moxibustion, pharmacopuncture, electroacupuncture, auricular-acupuncture, acupressure for non-specific chronic neck pain were included. Only controlled clinical trials or randomized clinical trials were assessed. Study design, number of subject, inclusion criteria, intervention, and results were extracted. In addition, details of intervention including needle type, retention time, acupoints were analyzed. Results : Total 64 studies(39 acupuncture, 9 laser, 6 pharmaco-acupuncture, 3 electro-acupuncture, 3 auricular-acupuncture, 3 moxibustion, 1 acupressure) were included. Among 39 acupuncture studies, 35 used acupuncture as sole intervention. Sham treatment was the most common intervention for control group, followed by no intervention. Various outcome including pain, disability, quality of life, range of motion was used as outcome measurement. The effect of acupuncture and moxibustion was different depending on the type of control and outcome measurement. The most commonly used method in acupuncture for neck pain was GB21, SI3, GB20, LI4, BL11 acupoints, 10~30 mm insertion depth, 20~30 retention time, and 1~2 times per week. Conclusions : Analyzing the details of acupuncture and moxibustion treatment could be helpful for researches and clinics. Further studies should consider the characteristics of study design, intervention, and outcome to assess the effect of TKM.
