Quantification of an active ingredient in tablets by NIR transmission measurements

  • For the quality control of tablets several parameters have to be checked. The most important one is the content of an active ingredient which has to match a narrow range around the designated content. The only useful measurement mode is transmission which provides information of the complete tablet. A measurement in diffuse reflectance would register only the surface which is useless especially in case of a coated tablet. In this work tablets for a clinical study (placebo/verum studies) with very low concentrations of the active ingredient were measured. The concentration range was 0 to 6 mg with a total weight of the tablets of 105 mg, leading to a highest concentration of the active component of 5.7% by weight. Especially the spectroscopic distinction between the placebo and the low dosage forms with 0.25 and 0.5 mg active agent requires an extraordinarily accurate sampling technique. Using the VECTOR 22/N-T in transmission mode allows the collection of the information from the complete tablets. A quantitative PLS-model with transmission spectra from the tablets described above shows that the active substance can be predicted with a RMSECV (root mean square error of cross validation) of 0.04% absolute for this special application. The results are compared with those of measurements in diffuse reflectance using different accessories.

Reconstruction and Validation of Gridded Product of Wind/Wind-stress derived by Satellite Scatterometer Data over the World Ocean and its Impact for Air-Sea Interaction Study

  • We have persistently constructed gridded products of surface wind/wind stress over the world ocean using satellite scatterometer (ERS and Qscat). They are available for users as the Japanese Ocean Flux data sets with Use of Remote sensing Observation (J-OFURO) data together with heat flux components. Recently, a new version data of the Qscat/SeaWinds based on improved algorithm for rain flag and high wind-speed range have been delivered, and allowed us to reconstruct gridded product with higher spatial resolution. These products are validated by comparisons with in-situ measurement data by mooring buoys such as TAO/TRITON, NDBC and the Kuroshio Extension Observation (KEO) buoys, together with numerical weather prediction model products such as the NCEP-1 and 2. Results reveal that the new product has almost the same magnitude in mean difference as the previous version of Qscat product and much smaller than the NCEP-1 and 2. On the other hand, it is slightly larger root-mean-square (RMS) difference than the previous one and NCEPs for the comparison using the KEO buoy data. This may be due to the deficit of high wind speed data in the buoy measurement. The high resolution product, together with sea surface temperature (SST) one, is used to examine a new type of relationship between the lower atmosphere and upper ocean in the Kuroshio Extension region.

  • The prediction to the hydroscopic moisture warping behaviors is analyzed for cellulose-based laminates using a numerical method base on a modified classical laminate(MCL) theory for hygroscopic moisture deformations with cycling testing data. The experimental measurement of the interferometric hygroscopic warping effects, moisture generator, and curvature of cellulose reinforced epoxy laminates is studied under cyclic environmental conditions using a Moire interferometer coupled. Accurate determination of curvatures provides a description of dimensional stability evolution; the tools for validation of computational internal stress and for the warpage prediction in model safety.

Numerical Prediction of Marine Propeller BPF Noise Using FW-H Equation and Its Experimental Validation (FW-H 방정식을 이용한 선박 추진기 날개통과주파수 소음의 수치예측과 모형시험 검증)

  • Underwater noise produced by ships has been becoming an increasing issue. A dominantly contributing noise source is a ship propeller. Therefore, it is important to predict the propeller noise at the propeller design stages. This study applied the acoustic analogy based on Ffowcs Williams equation for the prediction of the marine propeller BPF noise. A marine propeller BPF noise is investigated experimentally as well as numerically. Propeller BPF noise measurement and propeller cavitation observation tests are performed in the KRISO medium size cavitation tunnel. Numerical prediction schemes of marine propeller BPF noise are presented together with the noise measurement method. Propeller BPF noise predictions and experiments are performed under the various propeller operating conditions including non-cavitating and caveating conditions. Numerical and experimental results are compared and analyzed. It is shown that numerical prediction results are generally in good agreement with the measured data.

Validation of the Personality Measurement Tools for College Students: Focusing on Nursing Students (대학생 인성 측정도구의 타당화 : 간호대학생을 대상으로)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the validity and reliability of the personality measurement tool for nursing college students. Methods: Questionnaires were issued to 300 nursing students, with 275 eventually collected. The items were confirmed by validity experts. Construct validity was tested using exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. Reliability analysis was tested using Cronbach's ${\alpha}$. Criterion validity was tested by analyzing correlation with the college adjustment scale. Results: Eight factors were confirmed by exploratory factor analysis. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to confirm the model fit (Root-mean-square residual .03; Root-mean-square error of approximation .06; Comparative fit index .92); and convergent validity and discriminant validity were confirmed. In addition, the criterion validity was confirmed through correlation (r=.64, p<.001) with the college adjustment scale. The reliability of this tool was Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ .94. Conclusion: This tool can be used to measure personality in nursing education and can be used to develop and evaluate personality programs.

Development and Validation of a Vision-Based Needling Training System for Acupuncture on a Phantom Model

  • Background: Previous studies have investigated technology-aided needling training systems for acupuncture on phantom models using various measurement techniques. In this study, we developed and validated a vision-based needling training system (noncontact measurement) and compared its training effectiveness with that of the traditional training method. Methods: Needle displacements during manipulation were analyzed using OpenCV to derive three parameters, i.e., needle insertion speed, needle insertion angle (needle tip direction), and needle insertion length. The system was validated in a laboratory setting and a needling training course. The performances of the novices (students) before and after training were compared with the experts. The technology-aided training method was also compared with the traditional training method. Results: Before the training, a significant difference in needle insertion speed was found between experts and novices. After the training, the novices approached the speed of the experts. Both training methods could improve the insertion speed of the novices after 10 training sessions. However, the technology-aided training group already showed improvement after five training sessions. Students and teachers showed positive attitudes toward the system. Conclusion: The results suggest that the technology-aided method using computer vision has similar training effectiveness to the traditional one and can potentially be used to speed up needling training.

  • A study on the test, design and fabrication of wind tunnel model for measurement of air load distribution on wing surfaces is presented. 447 pressure taps are installed normal to the wing surfaces, and measured by PSI-8400 system using total 8 ESPs modules installed in the model. The test was performed at 50 m/sec constant speed in the low speed wind tunnel of Agency for Defense Development. Tests were carried out to determine effects of angle of attack, angle of sideslip and flap and stores for the load distribution of wing. The test results in this paper can be applied to the design optimization of structure and validation of computational fluid dynamics.

  • Errors in inertial navigation system(INS) can be divided into two major groups which are system related errors and modeling errors due to approximation and linearization. Measurement noise, calibration, and alignment errors make up the first group, whereas the uncertainties in the gravity vector fall in the second category and are important error source for high quality INS, especially during high altitude and and/or long time missions, when the gravity errors tent to build up. Application for Measuring the Glucose, Ammonia nitrogen, and Tylosin Concentration using Near Infrared Spectroscopy

  • For measurement of tylosin, ammonia nitrogen, and glucose concentration during the culture of Streptomyces fradiae using Near Infrared Spectroscopy, the calibration using various mathematical models was performed and then, based on the linear model, the validation was carried out. In the case of sucrose concentration using the MLR method, the Standard Error of Prediction and Multiple correlation coefficient were 1.97, and 0.991, respectively. In the case of ammonia nitrogen concentration using the PLSR method, the Standard Error of Prediction and Multiple correlation coefficient were 0.13, and 0.990, respectively. In the case of tylosin concentration using the PLSR method, the standard Error of Prediction and Multiple correlation coefficient were 0.54, and 0.984, respectively.

  • 최근 중대재해처벌법의 목적은 건설업 주체 구성원들의 안전불감증을 방지하기 위해 CEO의 안전참여 문화를 강조하고 있다. 선행연구에서는 리더의 감성 수준이 높을수록 업무 능력에 긍정적인 영향을 미치며, 감성능력을 요구하는 추세라고 주장하였다4). 본 연구에서 경영자 (CEO) 리더십 및 안전관리 연구에 사용할 수 있는 감성안전 측정으로 건전하고 간단한 EI 측정개발도구에 대해 신뢰도를 검증한다. Schutte Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Test (SSEIT)의 감정 조절 모델을 적용하면 리더와 안전관리자의 EI가 안전업무 수행과 태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳐야 한다. 또한 건설 안전관리 직업의 재해피해가능성스트레스 감정 노동이 EI-활용훈련 결과 감정조절이 가능하다는 것을 제안한다.
