This paper presents the calibration for the parallel typed tilting table. The calibration system needs only simple sensing device which is a digital indicator to measure the orientation of a table. The calibration algorithm is developed by a measurement operator. It eliminates the concern about the poor parameter observability due to a large number of parameters of parallel-mechanism. This paper uses the QR-decomposition to find the optimal calibration configurations maximizing the linear independence of rows of a observation matrix. The number of identifiable parameters is examined by the rank of the observation matrix, which represents the parameter observability. The method is applied to a Parallel-typed Tilting Table and all the necessary kinematic parameters are identifiable.

We setup the system to measure the noise characteristics of the 5M complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) image sensor by generic measurement indicator of Standard mobile imaging architecture (SMIA) which is one of internal standard of mobile imaging architecture. To evaluate the effect of environment and setting parameters, such as temperature and integration time, we measure the variation of the dark signal, dynamic range and fixed pattern noise of image sensor. We also detect the number of defective pixels and cluster defects defined as adjacent single defect pixels at 5M CMOS image sensor. Then, we find the existence of some cluster defects in experiment, which are not expected in calculation.

In this paper, we will introduce the image processing methods for the remote pupillary light reflex measurement using the video taken by a general smartphone camera without a special device such as an infrared camera. We propose an algorithm for estimate the size of the pupil that changes with light using image data analysis without a learning process. In addition, we will introduce the results of visualizing the change in the pupil size by removing noise from the recorded data of the pupil size measured for each frame of the video. We expect that this study will contribute to the construction of an objective indicator for remote pupillary light reflex measurement in the situation where non-face-to-face communication has become common due to COVID-19 and the demand for remote diagnosis is increasing.
Second harmonic generation using nonlinear ultrasonic waves have been shown to be an early indicator of possible fatigue damage in nuclear power plant components. This technique relies on measuring amplitudes, making it highly susceptible to variations in transducer coupling and instrumentation. This paper proposes an experimental procedure for in-situ surface wave nonlinear ultrasound measurements on specimen with permanently mounted transducers under high cycle fatigue loading without interrupting the experiment. It allows continuous monitoring and minimizes variation due to transducer coupling. Moreover, relations describing the effects of the measurement system nonlinearity including the effects of the material transfer function on the measured nonlinearity parameter are derived. An in-situ high cycle fatigue test was conducted using two 304 stainless steel specimens with two different excitation frequencies. A comprehensive analysis of the nonlinear sources, which result in variations in the measured nonlinearity parameters, was performed and the effects of the system nonlinearities are explained and identified. In both specimens, monotonic trend was observed in nonlinear parameter when the value of fundamental amplitude was not changing.
Indoor positioning system becomes of increasing interests due to the demands for accurate indoor location information where Global Navigation Satellite System signal does not approach. Wi-Fi access points (APs) built in many construction in advance helps developing a Wi-Fi Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) based indoor localization. This localization method first collects pairs of position and RSSI measurement set, which is called fingerprint database, and then estimates a user's position when given a query measurement set by comparing the fingerprint database. The challenge arises from nonlinearity and noise on Wi-Fi RSSI measurements and complexity of handling a large amount of the fingerprint data. In this paper, machine learning techniques have been applied to implement Wi-Fi based localization. However, most of existing indoor localizations focus on single position estimation. The main contribution of this paper is to develop multi-target localization by using deep neural, which is beneficial when a massive crowd requests positioning service. This paper evaluates the proposed multilocalization based on deep learning from a multi-story building, and analyses its learning effect as increasing number of target positions.
Wi-Fi Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) is considered one of the most important sensor data types for indoor localization. However, collecting a RSSI fingerprint, which consists of pairs of a RSSI measurement set and a corresponding location, is costly and time-consuming. In this paper, we propose a Wi-Fi RSSI learning technique without true location data to overcome the limitations of static database construction. Instead of the true reference positions, inertial measurement unit (IMU) data are used to generate pseudo locations, which enable a trainer to move during data collection. This improves the efficiency of data collection dramatically. From an experiment it is seen that the proposed algorithm successfully learns the unsupervised Wi-Fi RSSI positioning model, resulting in 2 m accuracy when the cumulative distribution function (CDF) is 0.8.
Background : Blood pressure is an important indicator in diagnosis and assessing treatment of a patient. Clinical staffs use blood pressure on the assumption that measured value is accurate and reliable. However, whether measured blood pressure is accurate has been rarely investigated in Korea. Objectives : The aims of this study are to evaluate clinical staffs' knowledge and technique as well as accuracy of sphygmomanometer. Also the program to improve the measurement is developed. Methods : Seventy-three registered nurses were asked nine multiple choice questions including Korotkoff sound, cuff size, and deflation rate. Simultaneously characteristics of nurses were examined, age, working place, duration of employment and academic degree. A testing videotape(Standardizing Measurement Video-Tutored Course) was used for evaluating the accuracy of measurement. Testees were to read and record the 12 cases of blood pressure measurement, watching a falling mercury column and hearing Korotkoff sounds. After 10 minutes' education, they were again tested with the same cases. Additionally, 83 mercury sphygmomanometers were checked to find defects such as inaccurate calibration and zero setting, leaky bladder, etc. Results: For the knowledge testing correct response rate was 41.1%. They were the lowest in selecting the proper cuff size and Korotkoff sound. In examining accuracy of blood pressure with videotape, nurses had 67.7% correct response rate. The correct response rate was significantly improved by a session of education. About 23% of sphygmomanometers was without discernable defects. Conclusion : The knowledge and skill of clinical staffs along with the accuracy of equipment have to be improved. A properly designed education program would contribute to the accuracy improvement of blood pressure measurement. Also, more concerns should be given to the precision and maintenance of equipment.
Nicotine is the main component of environmental tobacco smoke, and its presence in indoor air is widely used as a secondhand-smoke indicator. Environmental tobacco smoke is a major source of indoor air pollution, but sufficient investigation of the uncertainty of its measurement, which mirrors the reliability of nicotine measurement, has not been performed. We calculated the uncertainty of measurement of indoor air nicotine concentration at low, medium, and high concentrations of 11.3798, 10.1977, $98.3768{\mu}g/m^3$, respectively, and we employed the Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurements (GUM), proposed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The factors considered in determining the uncertainty were uncertainty of the calibration curve (calibration curve and repeated measurements), desorption efficiency, extraction volume, and sampling airflow (accuracy and acceptable limits of flowmeter). The measurement uncertainty was highest at low concentrations; the expanded measurement uncertainty is $0.9435{\mu}g/m^3$ and is represented as a relative uncertainty of 63.38%. At medium and high (concentrations, the relative uncertainty was 13.1% and 9.1%, respectively. The uncertainty of the calibration curve was largest for low indoor nicotine concentrations. To increase reliability of measurement in assessing the effect of secondhand smoke, measures such as increasing the sample injection rate ($1{\mu}L$ or more), increasing sampling volume to increase collected nicotine, and using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS) or GC/MS/MS, which has a lower quantitation threshold, rather than gas chromatography with nitrogen phosphorous detector, should be considered.
The adequate measurement of government expenditure efficiency for Energy Technology Development is a difficult empirical issue and the literature on it, particularly when it comes to aggregate and international data. Contribution in this study is threefold: first this study analyze the adequate measurement of government expenditure efficiency on Energy Technology sector of 24 OECD countries and korea. Second this study reconstruct efficiency composite indicators, named "Energy Technology Development Interest level indicator". Third this study assesses the efficiency of government expenditure for Energy Technology Development. The results can be summarized as follow: Korea's government expenditure efficiency for Energy Technology Development is highly ranked among 25 OECD countries based on Energy Technology Development R&D Budgets and Energy Technology Development R&D Budgets per thousand units of GDP indicators. However, Korea's ranking has fallen to 20th. The assessment suggests that government will be have to provide more government expenditure to enhance the efficiency on Energy.
