Today, big data has become a hot keyword in that big data may be defined as collection of data sets so huge and complex that it becomes difficult to process by traditional methods. Clustering method is to identify the information in a big database by assigning a set of objects into the clusters so that the objects in the same cluster are more similar to each other clusters. The similarity measures being used in the cluster analysis may be classified into various types depending on the nature of the data. In this paper, we computed upper and lower limits for probability interestingness measure based similarity measures without marginal probability such as Yule I and II, Michael, Digby, Baulieu, and Dispersion measure. And we compared these measures by real data and simulated experiment. By Warrens (2008), Coefficients with the same quantities in the numerator and denominator, that are bounded, and are close to each other in the ordering, are likely to be more similar. Thus, results on bounds provide means of classifying various measures. Also, knowing which coefficients are similar provides insight into the stability of a given algorithm.

The multi-criteria group decision making (MCGDM) problem is to determine the best compromise solution in a set of competing alternatives that are evaluated under conflicting criteria by decision maker (DM)s. In this paper, we propose a mixed-integer programming (MIP) model to solve MCGDM. The existing method based on minimizing a distance measure such as Median Approach can not guarantee the best compromise solution because the element of median point vector is defined with respect to each criteria separately. However, by considering all criteria simultaneously, we generate median point that is better for locating the best compromise solution. We also utilize the concept of spatial dispersion index (SDI) to produce a threshold value, which is used as a guideline to choose either the Utopian Approach or the Median Approach. And we suggest using CBITP (Convex hull of individual maxima Based Interactive Tchebycheff Procedure) to provide DMs with various Pareto-optimal solutions so that DMs have broad range of selection.

Process Capability ($C_{pk}$) is a representative measure of how well the producer manages dispersion and bias for the specifications needed by the consumer. This is expressed as a ratio of 6 times the natural tolerance to the specification. As the producer manages the dispersion small, the capacity index becomes higher. And it is classified into 5 grades according to the degree of management. It is a measure of the quality of processes used in most industrial fields. However, $C_{pk}$ is calculated by only reflecting the mean and dispersion of the process, there is a disadvantage that it can not give information about the economic loss caused by the inconsistency of the process with the target value. Overcoming these drawbacks, process capability indexes reflecting various types of loss functions such as $C_{pm}$, $C^+_{pm}$ and $C_{pl}$ have been developed. However, all of these previous studies have applied the limit to the consumer specification, which is based on the traditional and passive quality perception that the quality characteristic should exist within the limits of the consumer specification. In this study, we will develop 'Customer Satisfaction Quality Indicator (CSQI)' which is a quantitative indicator that can be fully evaluated when the manufacturer's specification limit, which is an aggressive quality strategy, is applied. This is expected to be useful decision information for both producers and consumers.
General behaviors based on hydraulic characteristics of natural streams and channels have been recently analyzed and developed via various numerical models. However in the states of natural hydraulics, an experimental research must be performed simultaneously with the mathematical analysis due to effects of hydraulic properties such as meander, sediment, and so on. In this study based on 2-D advection-dispersion equation, flow and tracer experiments were performed in the S-curved meandering laboratory channel with a rectangular cross-section. The channel was equipped with instrument carriages which was equipped with an auto-traversing system to be used with velocity measuring sensors throughout the depth and breadth of the flow field. To measure concentration distribution of the salt solution was adjusted to that of the flume water by adding methanol and a red dye (KMnO4) was added to aid the visualization of the tracer cloud, the tracer was instantaneously injected into the flow as a full-depth vertical line source by the instantaneous injector and the initial concentration of the tracer was 100,000 mg/l. The secondary current as well as the primary flow pattern was analyzed to investigate the flow distribution in the meandering channels. The velocity distribution of the primary flow for all cases skewed toward the inner bank at the first bend, and was almost symmetric at the crossovers, and then shifted toward the inner bank again at the next alternating bend. Thus, one can clearly notice that the maximum velocity occurs taking the shortest course along the channel, irrespective of the flow conditions. The result of the tracer tests shows that pollutant clouds are spreading following the maximum velocity lines in each cases with various mixing patterns like superposition, separation, and stagnation of pollutant clouds. Flow characteristics in each cases performed in this study can be compared with tracer dispersion characteristics with using evaluation of longitudinal and transverse dispersion coefficients(LDC, TDC). As expected, LDC and TDC in meandering parts have been evaluated with increasing distribution and straight parts have effected to evaluate minimum of LDC and TDC due to symmetric flow patterns and attenuations of secondary flow.
Since the Abbe number is a value representing the chromatic dispersion of a transparent optical medium, its measurement is essential for multicolor or white light applications of an optical medium. In this study, the Abbe number in a transparent organic thin film was measured through a simple double-slit experiment, and the results agreed with that calculated from a known dispersion formula for this medium. Unlike conventional methods that calculate the Abbe number from the refractive indices measured at three specific wavelengths using dedicated equipment, the method proposed in this study is a very simple experiment to obtain the Abbe number of new optical media without measuring the refractive indices. We demonstrated that experiments at the undergraduate optics level can be utilized to measure the chromatic dispersion of optical media.
Most astrophysical systems are turbulent and magnetized. Magnetic field plays an important role in the dynamics of ISM and influence all of properties of astrophysical system. Information of magnetic field is very important to understand properties of astrophysical systems. For example, one way to obtain information of magnetic field is to use Rotation Measure. Mean strength of the magnetic field along the line of sight can be estimated from RM/DM. (where RM is rotation measure, DM is dispersion measure) For the estimation of magnetic field strength using RM/DM, the correlation between density and magnetic field is very important. When there is no correlation between density and magnetic field the relation gives exact mean magnetic field strength. But, if the correlation is positive, it overestimates the magnetic field strength, while if the correlation is negative, it underestimate the strength. We calculate correlation between density and magnetic field in compressible MHD turbulence.
Stellar kinematics is a useful tool to understand the formation and evolution of young stellar systems. Here, we present a kinematic study of the HII region, NGC 821, using the Gaia Early Data Release 3. NGC 281 contains the open cluster IC 1590. This cluster has a core and a low-stellar density halo. We detect a pattern of cluster expansion from the Gaia proper motion vectors. Most stars radially escaping from the cluster are distributed in the halo. We measure the 1-dimensional velocity dispersion of stars in the core. The velocity dispersion (1 km/s) is comparable to the expected virial velocity dispersion of this cluster, and therefore the core is at a virial state. The core has an initial mass function shallower than that of the halo, which is indicative of mass segregation. However, there is no significant correlation between stellar masses and tangential velocities. This result suggests that the mass segregation has a primordial origin. On the other hand, it has been believed that the formation of young stars in NGC 281 West was triggered by feedback from massive stars in IC 1590. We investigate the ages of stars in the two regions, but the age difference between the two regions is not comparable to the timescale of the passage of an ionization front. Also, the proper motion vectors of the NGC 281 West stars relative to IC 1590 do not show any systematic receding motion from the cluster. Our results suggest that stars in NGC 281 West might have been formed spontaneously. In conclusion, the formation of NGC 281 can be understood in the context of hierarchical star formation model.
We investigated the polarization-mode dispersion (PMD) tolerance for 40Gb/s non-return to zero (NRZ), duobinary NRZ, return to zero (RZ), carrier-suppressed RZ (CS-RZ), and duobinary-carrier-suppressed RZ (DCS-RZ) modulation formats with a forward error correction (FEC) coding. The power penalty has been calculated as a measure of the system performance due to PMD. After comparison of the PMD tolerance of various modulation formats, our results suggest that RZ signals have the best tolerance against the effect of first-order PMD only. The duobinary NRZ modulation format is most resilient to PMD when both first- and second-order PMD are considered. However, the duobinary NRZ modulation format is the most sensitive to the incident angle of the input signal to a fiber axis in the presence of first- and second-order PMD, leading to incident angle-dependent power penalty. The coding gain by FEC can cope with the power penalties induced by first- and second-order PMD up to a DGD value of 16ps.
The plasma and microwave surface treatments of carbon nanotubes that loaded on plastic substrates were carried out with expecting a change of carbon nanotube dispersion by increasing treatment time. The microwave treatment process was undergone by commercial microwave oven (800 W). The electrical property was measured by hall measurement and resistance was increased by increasing $O_2$ flow rate of plasma, suggesting an improvement of carbon nanotube dispersion and a possibility of controlling the resistances of carbon nanotubes by plasma surface treatment. The resistance was increased in both polyethylene terephthalate and polyimide substrates by increasing $O_2$ flow rate. Resistance changes only slightly with different $O_2$ flow treatment in measure rho for all polyimide samples. Sheet resistance is lowest in polyimide substrate not due to high carbon nanotube loading but due to tendency to remain in elongated structure. $O_2$ or $N_2$ plasma treatments on both polyethylene terephthalate and polyimide substrates lead to increase in sheet resistance.

The modified in-line mixer which was suggested in this study for small water treatment facilities was evaluated on the performance of coagulation. For the objectives of this research, computational fluid dynamics(CFD) simulation was applied for analysis of flow characteristics within the modified in-line mixer. For verifying the results of CFD simulation, wet tests for the pilot plant were conducted. The wet test was to measure the actual coagulant dispersion distribution on the overall cross-section at a distance of 5.5D from the chemical injection point. From the results of CFD simulation and wet test, it was shown that the coagulant dispersion within the modified in-line mixer was occurred more uniformly than within the existing PDM(Pump diffusion Mixer). The results have confirmed the modified in-line mixer had several advantages compared with the existing PDM in terms of dispersion efficiency.
