This paper proposes a multiband Multi-Input Multi-output(MIMO) antenna for universal serial bus(USB) dongle application. The proposed MIMO antenna consists of a modified meander strip line and inverted L stub. The two radiating elements of the MIMO antenna are symmetrically placed with respect to the center of the ground plane. The fabricated antenna satisfied a VSWR below 3 and an efficiency over 35 % in the LTE band 13, 17(704 MHz-787 MHz), DCS/PCS/WCDMA band(1.71 GHz-2.17 GHz), and LTE band 7(2.5 GHz-2.7 GHz). The envelope correlation coefficient(ECC) has below 0.45 in the LTE band 13, 17 and 0.1 in the DCS/PCS/WCDMA band and LTE band 7, respectively.

In this paper, microstrip low pass filter using transmission line with the modified DCRLH structure is designed and fabricated to be removed a spurious resonant mode, and a deep attenuation in stop band. The low pass filter is composed of shunt open-stub to get a deep attenuation and series short-stub to eliminate the spurious harmonics in stop band. In this way, the spurious harmonics occurring on the higher order frequency are suppressed and the filter performance is improved. Insertion loss and VSWR of the fabricated microstrip low pass filter in the passband from DC to 1.5 GHz is 1.26 dB and 1.65, and attenuation on the stopband from 1.84 GHz to 2.18 GHz is less than -100 dB. And also this filter has a good performance for 20 watt power test.

This study is about an antenna implemented in the form of a monopole having a hexagonal symmetric pattern by simplifying the modified Hilbert curve fractal monopole structure. The modified Hilbert curve fractal monopole structure was simplified and miniaturized, and the radiator was implemented in a hexagonal symmetrical pattern to improve performance. The dielectric constant of substrate is 4.7, and the total line length with a meander-shaped symmetrical structure is 59 mm. The size of the antenna is 10 mm × 10 mm × 0.8 mm, and the line width is 0.4 mm. The size of the antenna measuring jig is 64 mm × 21 mm × 1 mm. The resonant frequency is 1.57 GHz, and the frequency range is 1.51 to 1.615 GHz. The frequency bandwidth is 105 MHz. As for the antenna gain, the measurement gain of the YZ-plane was 2.32 dBi, and that of the XZ-plane was -1.03 dBi. As a result, we confirmed that antenna miniaturization is possible using a hexagonal symmetric pattern fractal structure. In addition, we confirmed that the antenna performance can be easily improved by changing the structure of the radiator.
In these days, the interruption capability of some circuit breakers, which are installed in the transmission systems, is getting lower than the magnitude of the fault current because of continuous increase of power demand and relatively short power line which was installed in forms of mesh network As a result of these situations, fault current limiters (FCLs) are strongly necessary. There are various types which is investigated around the world, and new power apparatuses that have been newly considered and developed by many manufactures. In this paper, we considered resistive superconducting fault current limiters with YBCO thin films. The resistive limiters utilize a transition of YBCO films from superconducting to normal state caused by exceeding the critical current. By means of newly occurred impedance, the fault current will be limited effectively. Generally, a few current path patterns are available for YBCO films to enhance the current limiting performance of YBCO films. In this paper. the meander-type and the bi-spiral-type were used for current paths of YBCO flims. When YBCO films are quenched into the normal state, bubbles could be observed on the surface of YBCO films. Using our high-speed camera, the number of bubbles and the size of bubbles could be visualized and the relation between bubbles and current density was analyzed. By means of moving pictures of bubbles, we observed how the quench extended or how the heat was conducted in films.

This paper describes the design for radiation pattern directivity of vehicle license plate RFID tag antenna to improve the readable range. Directivity pattern of the proposed passive antenna is decided by the meander line position and the bumper size attached to the tag antenna. In order to prove the verification of the calculated directivity pattern and readable range of the proposed antenna, the tag antenna has been fabricated and measured at the anechoic chamber. It is shown that the maximum directivity gain of the measured radiation pattern of active and passive tag antenna were observed 2.32 dBi and 3.1 dBi, respectively. The maximum readable range of passive tag antenna was measured about 8.5 m at ${\pm}45^{\circ}$ beam direction on the basis of the driving car direction($0^{\circ}$ of azimuth angle).

In this paper, we propose a small broadband antenna for mobile device. The proposed antenna consists of a printed rectangular monopole antenna and a parastic element connected to ground using narrow meander line and it is designed on a FR-4 substrate that has a thickness of 0.8 mm and a dielectric constant of 4.4. The FR-4 substrate's size is 50 mm${\times}$90 mm comparable to the real mobile device. The fabricated antenna's size is 12.5 mm${\times}$10.5 mm${\times}$0.8 mm and the measurement shows -10 dB return loss bandwidth of 2,200~6,000 MHz and gains of 2.86~4.01 dBi. Accordingly, the proposed antenna can support mobile device for WiBro(2,300~2,380 MHz), WLAN(IEEE 802.11b/g/n: 2,400~2,480 MHz, IEEE 802.11a: 5,150~5,825 MHz), and mobile WiMAX(IEEE 802.16e : 2,500~2,690 MHz, 3,400~3,600 MHz) service bands.
General behaviors based on hydraulic characteristics of natural streams and channels have been recently analyzed and developed via various numerical models. However in the states of natural hydraulics, an experimental research must be performed simultaneously with the mathematical analysis due to effects of hydraulic properties such as meander, sediment, and so on. In this study based on 2-D advection-dispersion equation, flow and tracer experiments were performed in the S-curved meandering laboratory channel with a rectangular cross-section. The channel was equipped with instrument carriages which was equipped with an auto-traversing system to be used with velocity measuring sensors throughout the depth and breadth of the flow field. To measure concentration distribution of the salt solution was adjusted to that of the flume water by adding methanol and a red dye (KMnO4) was added to aid the visualization of the tracer cloud, the tracer was instantaneously injected into the flow as a full-depth vertical line source by the instantaneous injector and the initial concentration of the tracer was 100,000 mg/l. The secondary current as well as the primary flow pattern was analyzed to investigate the flow distribution in the meandering channels. The velocity distribution of the primary flow for all cases skewed toward the inner bank at the first bend, and was almost symmetric at the crossovers, and then shifted toward the inner bank again at the next alternating bend. Thus, one can clearly notice that the maximum velocity occurs taking the shortest course along the channel, irrespective of the flow conditions. The result of the tracer tests shows that pollutant clouds are spreading following the maximum velocity lines in each cases with various mixing patterns like superposition, separation, and stagnation of pollutant clouds. Flow characteristics in each cases performed in this study can be compared with tracer dispersion characteristics with using evaluation of longitudinal and transverse dispersion coefficients(LDC, TDC). As expected, LDC and TDC in meandering parts have been evaluated with increasing distribution and straight parts have effected to evaluate minimum of LDC and TDC due to symmetric flow patterns and attenuations of secondary flow.
In this paper, a broadband double dipole quasi-Yagi antenna using a 4×2 meander line array structure for maintaining 8 dBi gain was studied. The 4×2 meanderline array structure consists of a unit cell in the shape of a meanderline conductor, and it was placed above the second dipole antenna of the double dipole quasi-Yagi antenna. A double dipole quasi-Yagi antenna with generally used multiple strip directors was designed on an FR4 substrate with the same size, and the input reflection coefficient and gain characteristics were compared. Comparison results showed that the impedance frequency bandwidth increased by 6.3% compared to when using the multiple strip directors, the frequency bandwidth with a gain of 8 dBi or more increased by 10.1%, and average gain also slightly increased. The frequency band of the fabricated antenna for a voltage standing wave ratio less than 2 was 1.548-2.846 GHz(59.1%), and gain was measured to be more than 8 dBi in the 1.6-2.8 GHz band.
When the crew or passengers fall into the water due to marine accident of vessel, it is very important to rescue them quickly. In the case of marine accidents, most people in distress have been wearing a lifejacket, so if the GPS and Cospas-Sarsat communication module will be integrated within the lifejacket, it is easy to rescue them. In this paper, development of the dual band lifejacket-integrated antenna for GPS and Cospas-Sarsat communication is discussed. The antenna with the FR-4 substrate of 0.2mm thickness for flexibility was designed that it can be fitted close to the shoulder of the life jacket and operate at 1.575GHz and 406MHz. The GPS communication antenna was implemented with a ring-slot antenna having a circular polarized characteristic and a meander type linear polarized antenna is used as Cospas-Sarsat communication. The two antennas are fed by a single microstrip line and an open stub is used to minimize the mutual interference between the two antennas. The performance of the fabricated antenna attached to the life vest is confirmed by the measurement of the return loss at GPS and Cospas-Sarsat frequency bands.

A compact microstrip band-selective filter for ultra-wideband(UWB) radio system is proposed. The filter combines the traditional short-circuited stub highpass filter and coupled resonator band-stop filter on both sides of the mitered 50-ohm microstrip line. To realize the pseudo-highpass filtering characteristic over UWB frequency band(3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz), a distributed highpass filter scheme is adopted. Three coupled resonators are utilized to obtain the band stop function at the desired frequency band. By meandering the coupled resonators, there is $29\;\%$ size reduction in footprint compared to the traditional band-stop filter using L-shaped resonators. The measured results show that the filter has a wide passband of $146.7\;\%$(2.1 GHz to 10.15 GHz) with low insertion loss and the stop band of $10.04\;\%$(5.2 GHz to 5.75 GHz) for 3-dB bandwidth. The measured group delay is less than 0.7 ns within the passband except the rejection band.
