To analyse the cyclic variations in a test engine, the burn parameters are determined on a cycle-to-cycle basis through the analysis of the engine pressure data. Combustion analysis based on cylinder-pressure provides a mechanism through which a combustion researcher can understand the combustion process. The objective of this paper is to identify the most significant sources of cycle-to-cycle combustion variability in a spark ignition engine at idle. The burn rate analysis program was used and the burn parameters were used to determine the variations in the input parameter. In this study, the author investigated the relationship of indicated mean effective pressure, coefficient of variation of indicated mean effective pressure and burn angles, and lowest normalized value in a spark ignition engine for the cyclic variations.

In order to study on influence of fin pitch and shape of heat exchanger on the elevation of heat transfer efficiency, we make models of louvered fin type heat exchanger which was given a transformation of fin pitch in louvered fin type heat exchanger which are of en used now. And the influence of fin pitch on pressure drop and characteristics of heat transfer was experimented and analysed when air velocity and fin pitch was a variable. The results of experiment shows below. Pressure drop shows larger in louvered fin type heat exchanger than in plate fin type heat exchanger, size of pressure drop shows like this order that fin space is 4mm, 5mm, 6mm. Mean heat transfer coefficient shows higher in louvered fin type heat exchanger than in plate fin type heat exchanger, size of mean heat transfer coefficient by fin space shows same in both case in louvered fin type heat exchanger and plate fin type like this order that fin space is 4mm, 5mm, 6mm.

There is considerable uncertainty in ground properties used in tunnel designs. In this study, a back analysis was performed to find optimal ground properties based on the artificial neural network facility of MATLAB program of using tunnel monitoring data. Total 81 data were constructed by changing elastic modulus and coefficient of lateral pressure which have great influence on tunnel convergence. A sensitivity analysis was conducted to establish an optimal training model by varying the number of hidden layers, the number of nodes, learning rate, and momentum. Meanwhile, the optimal training model was selected by comparing MSE (Mean Squared Error) and coefficient of determination ($R^2$) and was used to find the correct elastic moduli of layers and the coefficient of lateral pressure. In future, it is expected that the suggested method of this study can be applied to determine the optimum tunnel support pattern under given ground conditions.

This paper investigates the effects of Reynolds number (Re) on the aerodynamic characteristics of a twin-deck bridge. A 1:36 scale sectional model of a twin girder bridge was tested using the Wall of Wind (WOW) open jet wind tunnel facility at Florida International University (FIU). Static tests were performed on the model, instrumented with pressure taps and load cells, at high wind speeds with Re ranging from $1.3{\times}10^6$ to $6.1{\times}10^6$ based on the section width. Results show that the section was almost insensitive to Re when pitched to negative angles of attack. However, mean and fluctuating pressure distributions changed noticeably for zero and positive wind angles of attack while testing at different Re regimes. The pressure results suggested that with the Re increase, a larger separation bubble formed on the bottom surface of the upstream girder accompanied with a narrower wake region. As a result, drag coefficient decreased mildly and negative lift coefficient increased. Flow modification due to the Re increase also helped in distributing forces more equally between the two girders. The bare deck section was found to be prone to vortex shedding with limited dependence on the Re. Based on the observations, vortex mitigation devices attached to the bottom surface were effective in inhibiting vortex shedding, particularly at lower Re regime.
This study describes the external spray characteristics of deflector nozzle such as the breakup procedures of liquid sheet, spray angle, discharge coefficient and bubble behaviors of spray and SMD at deflector nozzle. In order to visualize the spray behaviors shadow graphy technique were used. According to the increase of injection pressure, development of the spray passes through the dribbling, distoted jet, closed bubble due to the contraction by surface tension forces, the bubble opens into hollow tulip shape, and the curved surface straightened to form a conical sheet like as the simplex swirl atomizer. Spray cone angle was nearly 90 deg. Variations of SMD were examined in order to describe the dependency of SMD on the injection pressure and orifice diameter. The shape of deflector and oriffice diameter had an effect on the discharge coefficient.

A computer program was developed to simulate effect of the initial track tension on the tractive performance of tracked vehicles. The performance was evaluated in terms of drawbar pull, motion resistance, tractive coefficient and tractive efficiency. Results of the simulation showed that increase in track tension decreases the sinkage and mean maximum pressure in clay, making the ground pressure distribution more uniform. This tendency became more evident when the number of roadwheels increased. However, such change in MMPs was negligible in firm soils. Motion resistance was also decreased with increase in track tension and the number of roadwheels. Under weak soil conditions, tractive coefficient and efficiency increased generally as the track tension increased for a slip range of 10∼30%. For slippage less than 3∼4%, however, the tractive coefficient decreased with increase in track tension. In general, it was known that increasing track tension improves tractive performance in weak soil conditions. However, high track tension can reduce efficiency due to the increment of internal motion resistance caused by increased track tension.
This study was conducted to investigate the effect of absorption coefficient models on the P1 radiation model for a premixed hydrogen flame containing the water vapor. A CFD combustion simulation analysis was performed using XiFoam, one of the open-source CFD solvers in OpenFOAM. The solver using the flamelet combustion model has been modified to implement radiative heat transfer. The absorption coefficient models used in this study the grey-mean model and constant model, and for comparison, case without radiation was added. This CFD simulation study consisted of benchmarking the THAI HD-15 and HD-22 experiments. The difference between the two tests is the inclusion of water vapor in the condition before ignition. In the case of the HD-22 experiment containing water vapor in the initial condition, the simulation results show that the grey-mean absorption coefficient model has a strong influence on the temperature decrease of the flame and on the change in pressure inside the vessel.
Purpose: Chronic ankle instability is a very common abnormality of the ankle, but there is still controversy regarding its evaluation criteria. The stress view has difficulties in reflecting the patient's symptoms and treatment progress. Therefore, this study examined the relationship between the center of pressure (COP) measured by a pedobarograph and the symptoms of the patient. Materials and Methods: Thirty patients with chronic ankle instability from February to August 2018 were included. Each patient was surveyed with the foot and ankle outcome score (FAOS). The COP was measured with a foot pressure scanner, and the travel distance and ellipse area of the COP were calculated. Each patient was measured on one foot and on two feet with his or her eyes closed and open. The relationship between the COP measurement and FAOS score was analyzed using the Pearson correlation coefficient. Results: The participants were consisted of 21 male and nine female, with a mean age of 30 years, mean weight of 72 kg, and mean foot size of 259 mm. With the eyes open, the correlation coefficient between the FAOS and travel distance of the affected side was -0.394 (p<0.05) and that between the FAOS and the ellipse area of the affected side was -0.425 (p<0.05). On the other hand, no significant correlations were found between the travel distance and ellipse area of the affected side when patients closed their eyes. Conclusion: Measurement of the COP using foot pressure scanner could evaluate objectively patients with chronic ankle instability, with measurements in patients with their eyes open being more significant. Based on the findings of this study, an analysis of the COP with the patients with their eyes open and standing on one foot may help determine the management strategy and assess the progress of the patients.

To obtain the data of the pressure loss and differential pressure at the inside of the stack that was composed of 126 cells with 7,500 cm2 electrode area, 75kW molten carbonate fuel cell system has been operated. Computational fluid dynamics was applied to estimate reactions and thermal fluid behavior inside of the stack that was adopted with internal manifold type separator. The pressure loss coefficient K showed 72.29 to 84.01 in anode and 6.34 to 8.75 in cathode at low part of cells at the inside of 75 kW MCFC stack respectively. Meanwhile, the pressure loss coefficient of the higher part of cells at the interior of the stack showed 15.36 and 56.44 in anode and cathode respectively. These results mean that there is no big total pressure difference between anode and cathode at the inner part of 75 kW MCFC stack. This result will be reflected in 250kW MCFC system design.
