  • Observations were made on the blood picture of total 196 heads of healthy Korean cattles, including 98 males and 98 females in the purpose of determination of hematological values and its sex difference, and seasonal variations during one year period from December 1963 to November 1964. The blood sampling were scheduled by random in four different seasons and the sample size of both sex included in each season were designated to be same size. The ranges, averages or mean values of the erythrocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrit, mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration, total white blood cell count and differential count were determined in this studies and their respective standard deviation, standard error of means, sex defferences and seasonal variations were as follows; 1. The erythrocyte count of male showed a range of $5.0{\times}10^6/c.mm$ to $8.75{\times}10^6/c.mm$ with a mean of $6.5{\pm}0.096{\times}10^6/c.mm$. Female showed a range of $5.0{\times}10^6/c.mm$ to $8.30{\times}10^6/c.mm$, with a mean of 6. $131{\pm}0.078{\times}10^6/c.mm$. There was a highly significant sex difference and seasomal variation was not found to be significant. 2. The hemoglobin value of male showed a range of 9.0g/100cc. to 14.5g/100cc. with a mean of $11.074{\pm}0.143g/100cc$. Female showed a range of 9.0g/100cc to 13.0g/100cc. with a mean of $10.745{\pm}0.034g/100cc$. There was a highly significant sex difference and seasonal variation was not found to be significant. 3. The hematocrit value of male showed a range of 28% to 45% and with a mean of $34.867{\pm}0.468%$. Female showed a range of 28% to 42% with a mean of $32.888{\pm}0.322%$. There was a highly significant sex difference and seasonal variation was not found to be significant. 4. The mean corpuscular hemoglobin of male showed a range of 14.4rr. to 19.6rr. with a mean of $17.1{\pm}0.112rr$. Female showed a range of 14.7rr. to 19.5rr. with a mean of $17.6{\pm}0.113rr$. 5. The mean corpusular volume of male showed a range of $42.5{\mu}^3$ to $62.2{\mu}^3$ with a mean of $53.9{\pm}0.419{\mu}^3$, Female showed a range of $44.2{\mu}^3$ to $60.0{\mu}^3$ with a mean of $53.8{\pm}0.375{\mu}^3$. 6. The mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration of male showed a range of 28.1 % to 34.9% with a mean of $31.4{\pm}0.161%$. Female showed a range of 28.0% to 34.9% with a mean of $30.9{\pm}0.169%$. 7. The total leucocyte count of male showed a range of 4,000/c.mm to 13,100/c.mm. with a mean of $9,338{\pm}218.23/c.mm$. Female showed a range of 4,000/c.mm. to 14,000/c.mm. with a mean of $9,338{\pm}235.90/c.mm$. Six difference was not found to be significant and there was a highly significant seasonal variation. 8. The differential count of male, the means of neutrophil, stab, segmented cell, Iymphocyte, monocyte, eosinophil and basophil were $31.173{\pm}0.570%$, 0.3%. $30.867{\pm}0.564%$, $55.112{\pm}0.603%$, $3.745{\pm}0.082%$, $9.867{\pm}0.422%$ and 0.14% rspectively. Female showed means of $31.010{\pm}0.572%$, 0.2%, $30.806{\pm}0.569%$, $53.929{\pm}0.634%$, $4.082{\pm}0.109%$, $10.908{\pm}0.503%$ and 0.12% respectively. There were significant sex differences in monocyte and highly significant sex difference in eosinophil, and seasonal variation were found to be highly significant in neutrophil, monocyte and eosinophil. 9. Hematological comparison made between cattles infested with so called "small type piroplasma" and non-infested group. The result of investigation showed no significant difference upon the red blood cell, hemoglobin and hematocrit values between lighty infested group and non-infested group. 10. Age distribution of test group in this study ranged from 2 years to 6 years in both sex and their average age were $4.45{\pm}0.114$(male) and $4.50{\pm}0.116$(female). There found to be no significant sex difference and seasonal variations in the age of test group.

목말밑 관절의 중립자세와 무릎관절 자세가 수동적인 발등굽힘 가동범위에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Subtalar Joint Neutral Position and Knee Position on the Passive Ankle Dorsiflexion Range of Motion)

  • Background: Measurement of passive ankle dorsiflexion range of motion (ADROM) is often part of a physical therapy assessment. Objects: The objective of this study was to identify the effects of subtalar joint neutral position (SJNP) on passive ADROM according to knee position in young adults. Methods: We recruited 14 young adult participants for this study. Two examiners used a universal goniometer to measure passive ADROM with and without SJNP. Dorsiflexion force was applied to the forefoot until maximum resistance was reached in two knee positions (extension and $90^{\circ}$ flexion) in the prone position. Subtalar joint position was also recorded at maximum ADROM. Passive ADROM was measured three times at different knee and subtalar joint positions, in random order. Two-way repeated-measures analysis of variance was used to compare the effects of subtalar joint and knee position on passive ADROM. Results: Passive ADROM was significantly lower with than without SJNP during both knee extension (mean difference: $7.4^{\circ}$) and $90^{\circ}$ flexion (mean difference: $16.9^{\circ}$) (p<.01). Passive ADROM was significantly higher during $90^{\circ}$ knee flexion than during knee extension both with (mean difference: $5.8^{\circ}$) and without SJNP (mean difference: $15.2^{\circ}$) (p<.01). The valgus position of the subtalar joint was significantly lower with than without SJNP during both knee extension (mean difference: $3.3^{\circ}$) and $90^{\circ}$ flexion (mean difference: $4.3^{\circ}$) (p<.01). Conclusion: Our results indicate that the gastrocnemius may limit ankle dorsiflexion more than the soleus does. Greater dorsiflexion at the subtalar and midtarsal joints was observed during passive ADROM measurement without than that with SJNP; therefore, SJNP should be maintained for accurate measurement of ADROM.

Validity of a Portable APDM Inertial Sensor System for Stride Time and Stride Length during Treadmill Walking

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the accuracy of stride time and stride length provided by a commercial APDM inertial sensor system (APDM) with the results of three dimensional motion capture system (3D motion) during treadmill walking. Method: Five healthy men participated in this experiment. All subjects walked on the treadmill for 3 minutes at their preferred walking speed. The 3D motion and the APDM were simultaneously used for extracting gait variables such as stride time and stride length. Mean difference and root mean squared (RMS) difference were used to compare the measured gait variables from the two measurement devices. The regression equation derived from the range of motion of the lower limb was also applied to correct the error of stride length. Results: The stride time extracted from the APDM was almost the same as that from the 3D motion (the mean difference and RMS difference were less than 0.0001 sec and 0.0085 sec, respectively). For stride length, mean difference and RMS difference were less than 0.1141 m and 0.1254 m, respectively. However, after correction of the stride length error using the derived regression equation, the mean difference and the RMS difference decreased to 0.0134 m and 0.0556 m or less, respectively. Conclusion: In this study, we confirmed the possibility of using the temporal variables provided from the APDM during treadmill walking. By applying the regression equation derived only from the range of motion provided by the APDM, the error of the spatial variable could be reduced. Although further studies are needed with additional subjects and various walking speeds, these results may provide the basic data necessary for using APDM in treadmill walking.

  • Observations were made on the blood picture of total 196 heads of healthy Korean cattles, including 98 males and females in the purpose of determination of blood chemical values and their sex differences and seasonal variations during one year period from December, 1963 to November, 1964. The ranges, averages or mean values of the blood glucose, total serum protein, serum globulin, serum albumin, total non-protein nitrogen, blood urea nitrogn, total serum cholesterol, serum inorganic phosphorus and serum calcium were determined in this studies and their respective standard deviation, standard error of means, sex differences and seasonal variations were as follows. 1. The blood glucose values for the male ranged from 32.8 to 70.0 mg/100cc. with a mean of $49.781{\pm}0.823mg/100cc$; for the female the range was 32.0 to 64.0mg/100cc. with a mean of $47.235{\pm}0.782mg/100cc$. Sex difference showed significant at 5% level and seasonal variation was highly significant at 1% level. 2. The total serum protein values for the male ranged from 5.61 to 8.83 gm/100cc with a. mean of $7.366{\pm}0.062gm/100cc$; for the female ranged from 5.53 to 8. 43 gm/100cc. with a mean of $6.832{\pm}0.063gm/100cc$. Sex difference and seasonal variation was not significant. 3. The serum globulin values for the male ranged from 2.97 to 4.78 gm/100cc. with a mean of $3.961{\pm}0.039gm/100cc$.; for the female ranged from 2.87 to 4.41 gm/100cc. with a mean of $3.699{\pm}0.037gm/100cc$. Sex difference showed highly significant at 1% level and seasonal variation was not significant. 4. The serum albumin values for the male ranged from 2.58 to 4.21 gm/100cc. with a mean of $3.405{\pm}0.029gm/100cc$.; for the female ranged from 2.39 to 4.10 gm/100cc. with a mean of $3.204{\pm}0.031gm/100cc$. Sex difference showed highly significant at 1% level and seasonal variation was not significant. 5. The total non-protein nitrogan values for the male ranged from 19.1 to 44.8 gm/100cc. with a mean of $31.166{\pm}0.582mg/100cc$.; for the female the range was 15.2 to 50.5 mg/100cc. with a mean of $28.89.6{\pm}0.673mg/100cc$. Sex difference showed significant at 5% level and seasonal variation was highly significant at 1 % level. 6. The blood urea nitrogen values for the male ranged from 6.4 to 28.3 mg/100cc. with a mean of $13.371{\pm}0.466mg/100cc$.; for the female the range, was 6.0 to 26.9 mg/100cc. with a mean of $13.631{\pm}0.321mg/100cc$. Sex difference was not significant and seasonal variation showed highly significant at 1 % level. 7. The total serum cholesterol values for the male ranged from 60.0 to 238.6 mg/100cc. with a mean of $140.897{\pm}2.826mg/100cc$.; for the female ranged from 50.0 to 243.0 mg/100cc. with a mean of $124.840{\pm}3.553mg/100cc$. Sex difference and seasonal variation showed highly significant at 1% level. 8. The serum inorganic phosphorus values for the male ranged from 3.5 to 7.8 mg/100cc. with a mean of $5.426{\pm}0.096mg/100cc$.; for the female ranged from 3.1 to 8.8 mg/100cc. with a mean of $5.570{\pm}0.128mg/100cc$. Sex difference and seasonal variation showed no significant. 9. The serum calcium values for the male ranged from 7.8 to 12.8 mg/100cc. with a mean of $10.761{\pm}0.102mg/100cc$.; for the female ranged from 8.0 to 13.0 mg/100cc. with a mean of 10. $756{\pm}0.097mg/100cc$. Sex difference was not significant and seasonal variation showed highly significant at 1% level. 10. The age of test group ranged from 2 years to 6 years in both sex and the averageage were, $4.45{\pm}0.114$ years in male and $4.50{\pm}0116$ years in female. Sex difference and seasonal variation of age were not found to be significant.

중학생의 운동의지 및 운동이행과 관련요인에 대한 분석연구 (A Study on Factors Influencing Exercise Intent and Behavior in Middle School Students)

  • The purposes of this study are to identify the degree of exercise intent and behavior and to determine factors influencing exercise and behavior in middle school students. The subjects for this study were 658 middle school students in Chonbuk area. The data were obtained by questionaire for the period from Nov. 1 to Dec. 20, 1990. The instrument used for the study were included 6 existing scales and 2 scales developed by the researcher for this study. They are: 1) The exercise intent scale to assess the exercise plan even when they had no longer physical education. 2) The current exercise behavior to measure of exercise frequency for 1 week. 3) The scale to measure the level of self -esteem. 4) The scale to measure the level of knowledge about exercise. 5) The scale to measure the level of the perceived ability to make commitment. 6) The scale to measure the level of the perceived benifit of exercise. 7) The scale to measure the level of the perceived athletic ability. 8) The scale to measure the level of the attitude toward physical education. The data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, one way ANOVA, Pearson Coeffecients Correlation and stepwise multiple regression. The following; results were obtained. 1. Exercise intent level was in the intermediate range(mean on five point scale of 3.66, with 1 = definitely no). 2. The current exercise behavior level was relatively low(mean=1.77, with l=less than once per week and 4 = 4 or more times per week). 3. Self -esteem levels were in the intermediate range(mean on five point scale of 2.96, a mean of 5.0 indicate highest level of self-esteem.) 4. The levels of perceived ability to make commitments were in the intermediate range(mean=3.05, with 5.0 as most able). 5. The levels of perceived exercise as benificial were relatively high(mean=3.72, with 5.0 as most benificial). 6. Knowledge levels about exercise were realatively high(mean=3.97, with 5.0 as most knowledgeable). 7. The levels of perceived athletic ability were in intermediate range(mean=3.01, with 5.0 as highest score). 8. The levels of attitudes toward physical education were in the intermediate range(mean=3.29, with 5.0 as most favorable). 9. Among the general characteristic variables, sex, interest sports activities were related to the difference of exercise intent levels. 10. Of the predictor variables analyzed, self - esteem, perceived benifit of exercise, perceived athletic ability, knowledge about exercise and attitude about physical education correlated significantly and positively with exercise intent. Correlations of predictors with current exercise behavior were similiar to exercise intent, exept knowledge about exercise. 11. The stepwise multiple regression analysis shows findings as follows: 1) The most important factor to explain the difference of exercise intent was current exercise behavior. 2) The most improtant factor to explain the difference of current exercise behavior was perceived athletic ability.

Effect of language on fundamental frequency: Comparison between Korean and English produced by L2 speakers and bilingual speakers

  • This study aims to examine whether the fundamental frequency (F0) varies depending on languages or distinguishes between L1 (first language) and L2 (second language) speech and whether the type of materials which vary in control of consonant voicing affects the use of F0-especially, mean F0. For this purpose, we compared productions of two languages produced by Korean L2 learners of English to those of Korean-English bilingual speakers. Twelve Korean L2 speakers of English and twelve Korean-English bilingual speakers participated in this study. The subjects read aloud 22 declarative sentences-balanced and unbalanced-once in English and once in Korean. Mean F0 of Korean was higher than that of English for both speaker groups, and the difference in the value of mean F0 between the Korean and English sentences was different depending on the type of materials that the participants read. With regard to F0 range, the L2 speakers had a larger F0 range in English than in Korean; however, the effect of language on F0 range was not statistically significant for the bilingual speakers. These results indicate that language-specific properties may affect the use of F0, in particular, mean F0.

  • This study has investigated the basic data of untrained boys and girls' VRP. The VRP comparison was executed between 5 boys(lO to 11 years old) and girls(10 to 11 years old). The measure of VRP was implemented by using Dr. Speech 4.0(Tiger-electronics) phonetogram program. The comparison of boys and girls' maximum and minimum range, the mean of boys' maximum range is 93.68dB(SD 7.90) and girls' range is 93.12dB(SD 5.11). There was no difference and the mean of minimum range of boy is 68.08dB(SD 3.59), girl is 71.10dB(SD 3.06).

선물 및 현물시장은 뉴스에 대해 동일하게 반응하는가? : 코스피200 선물시장에 대한 실증적 연구 (Do the Futures and Spot Markets Respond Differently to the News? : An Empirical Study of KOSPI200 Futures Market)

  • 이 논문에서는 새로운 뉴스에 대해 선물시장이 현물시장보다 더 민감하게 반응하는지와 더 큰 가격변동폭을 보이는지를 검증한다. 뉴스에 대한 민감도는, 선물가격의 일간변동을 이론가격 변동에 관해 회귀시킨 식의 회귀계수에 의해 측정한다. 그리고 가격변동폭은 선물가격과 이론가격의 평균범위차이($\overline{RD}$), 평균고가차이($\overline{HD}$) 및 평균저가차이($\overline{LD}$)라는 세 가지 척도를 사용하여 측정한다. 이 논문에서 사용한 자료는 코스피200 지수선물시장의 개설 초기인 1996년 7월부터 최근의 2005년 12월말까지 최근월물과 차근원물의 선물가격과 이론가격이다. 민감도의 차이를 나타내는 $\hat{\beta}$는 1과 크게 유의한 차이를 보이지 않으므로 뉴스에 대한 두 시장의 민감도는 대체로 큰 차이가 있는 것으로 보이지 않는다. 그러나 최근기간(2002년 11월${\sim}$2005년 12월)에는 최근월물 및 차근월물 모두 1보다 큰 값을 보이고 있어 선물시장이 더 민감하게 반응하고 있다. 또 최근기간에 최근월물의 가격이 좋은 뉴스에 대해 현물시장보다 더 민감하게 반응하였다. 전체기간 및 하위기간의 ($\overline{RD}$)는 대체로 0과 유의한 차이를 갖지 않는다. 그러나 최근월물의 평균고가차이($\overline{HD}$)는 전체기간과 하위기간 모두에서 뚜렷하게 유의한 양의 값을 보이고 있다. 이것은 최근월물 선물가격의 좋은 뉴스에 대한 가격변동폭이 현물가격보다 더 크다는 것을 의미한다.

임신한 부부의 태아 애착에 관한 연구 (An Exploration of the maternal & paternal-fetal attachment)

  • The purpose of the study was to identify the maternal & paternal-fetal attachment. The subjects were 130 pregnant women and 85 their husbands. Data were collected in OB & GY clinic by modified Cranley's Maternal-Fetal Attachment Scale. The results were as follows : 1. The mean scores of maternal-fetal attachment (MFA) was 75.57(range: 48-92). The most frequently practiced attachment item was "I can hardly walt to hold the baby(mean 4.32)". The mean scores of paternal-fetal attachment (PFA) was 65.48(range : 48-92). The most frequently practiced attachment item was "I can hardly wait to hold the baby(mean 4.25)". 2. There were significant difference in the degree of MFA, namely, gestational period(p=.020), whether the women had been special things(p=.000) and had experiened on ultrasound scan(p=.001). In the PFA, gestational period(p=.013) gravida(p=.016), duration of marriage(p=.001), family type(p=.036) and whether the women had a health problem(p=.035) were significant difference in degree of attachment. In conclusions, it can be said that parent demonstrated mid-level of attachment to their fetus during pregnancy. Several other factors seemed to be related, indicating a need for further study on maternal & paternal-fetal attachment. It will designed and managed parental class to promoting maternal & paternal-fetal attachment.

유방절제술 환자의 신체상과 삶의 질의 관계 (Body Image and Quality of Life in Women with Mastectomy)

  • Purpose: This study was designed to investigate the body-image and quality of life in breast cancer patients with mastectomy. Methods: Data were obtained by self-reported questionaries from 110 patients undergone mastectomy from August 1 to 31, 2007. And data were analyzed using SPSS/PC WIN 12.0 program and frequency, percentage, mean, minimum, maximum, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient were used. The results of the study were as follows; 1) Mean of Body image of the subjects was $52.54{\pm}6.67$ (range of scale; 17 to 85). Mean of quality of life was $118.01{\pm}34.37$ (range of scale; 0 to 10). 2) There was no significant difference with the score of body image by demographic and disease-related characteristics of subjects. 3) There was significant difference with the score of quality of life by the work type and economic status of subjects. 4) Relationship between body image and quality of life showed moderately strong positive correlation (r=0.408, p<0.0001). Conclusion: Mean of body image and of quality of life in mastectomy patients were moderate. Relationship between body image and quality of life showed moderately strong positive correlation. Therefore, for improving the quality of life, it is needed to improve body image in breast cancer patients with mastectomy.
