맥켄지와 윌리암스 운동 요법이 요통감소와 EMG에 미치는 영향 (The effect of the Mckenzie exercise and the williams exercise on the reduction of low back pain and on the changes of EMG)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the superior exercise on the reduction of low back pain, between the Mckenzie exercise and the williams exercise. 24 chronic low back pain patients were randomly divided into 3 groups (Mckenzie exercise group = 8, williams exercise group = 8, control group = 8). Each group examined using the Borg scale in a reduction of low back pain, the EMG amplitude in a stationary sit-up position and in a stationary 1000 back extension position. The Results are as follow. 1. After the training period, the Mckenzie exercise group and the williams exercise group revealed reduction of low back pain, but the control group does not revealed it. 2. After the training period, there were no significant differences on the reduction of low back pain between the Mckenzie exercise group and the williams exercise group. 3. After the training period, no groups decreased on the abdominal muscle EMG amplitude. 4. After the training period, all groups revealed no significant differences on the abdominal muscle EMG amplitude. 5. After the training period, all groups decreased on the low back muscle EMG amplitude. 6. After the training period, all groups revealed no significant differences on the low back muscle EMG amplitude. Overall, the study suggested that the Mckenzie exercise and the williams exercise achieve the same effect on the reduction of low back pain, and the fact seems to be influenced by other factors without muscular adaptation.

  • This study is going to have been recognized a change of Cervical range of motion with the object 40 persons who sat for many hours before computer. According to the therapy term, sling used joint mobility exercise and Mckenzie was executed by 20 persons Shared. The study results about the effect that Cervical exercise had on joint Range of motion of a VDT syndrome patient were as follows. 1. There was a similar difference a sling used in Cervical Range of motion of joint mobility exercise cure after one-week, two-weet and three-week. 2. The change Cervical Range of motion of Mckenzie exercise has not been after one-week and two-week but a similar difference happens after three-week. 3. There has not been difference between joint mobility exercise and Mckenzie exercise in cure ferm sling used.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of therapeutic massage and Mckenzie exercise on pain and range of motion in chronic neck pain patient: a case study. Method : A Twenty-year old female subject with chronic neck pain was selected, she received therapeutic massage and Mckenzie exercise for 30 minutes a day, three days a week for five weeks. Pain was measured visual analog scale(VAS), neck disability index(NDI) and the Copenhagen neck functional disability scale (CNFDS). Range of motion was measured using a goniometer(shoulder joint) and the CROM Deluxe(cervical range of motion instrument). Result : VAS, NDI and CNFDS were decreased 3 score, 4 score and 6 score(respectively) than before the training. The range of motion was increased in shoulder joint and neck movement than before the training. Conclusion : The massage and Mckenzie exercise increased range of motion in shoulder joint and neck movement, and decreased neck pain in chronic neck pain patient. Additional research on therapeutic massage and Mckenzie exercise for improving pain and range of motion is need.

경부 맥킨지 운동용 재활로봇의 개발 (Development of a Rehabilitation Robot for Mckenzie Cervical Exercise)

  • 본 논문에서는 경부통증완화에 효과적인 맥킨지 운동(Mckenzie exercise)이 가능한 경부 재활로봇(cervical rehabilitation robot)을 제안한다. 이 로봇은 목의 좌우 측방굴곡, 전방향의 굴곡 및 후방향의 신전이 가능하도록 2자유도를 가지며, 맥킨지의 경부 스트레칭과 등척성 운동이 가능하다. 재활로봇의 기구부는 의자에 거치할 수 있어 가정에서 의자에 앉은 채로 맥킨지 운동을 할 수 있도록 설계하였다. 실험에서는 피험자가 프로토타입 경부 재활로봇을 착용하고 맥킨지 운동을 수행시 전후좌우의 굴곡과 신전 각도를 측정하고, 동시에 목주위의 표면 근전도와 머리부착부위의 압력을 측정하여 로봇의 성능을 평가하였다. 이 실험의 결과로부터 본 연구에서 제안한 경부 맥킨지 운동용 재활로봇이 적용가능함을 보였다.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 거북목을 가진 사람에게 메켄지 폄운동과 어깨안정화운동이 앞쪽머리자세에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아보는 것이다. 연구대상자는 30명의 거북목을 가진 평범하고 건강한 사람들로 이루어져 있다. 대상자는 어깨안정화운동과 메켄지 폄운동으로 나누어(인원=30, 남자 15명, 여자 15명) 무작위로 나누어 6주 동안 실시되었다. 본 연구는 마름근, 아래등세모근의 운동프로그램과 깊은목굽힘근, 위등세모근, 어깨올림근의 신장프로그램을 통한 목뼈의 머리척추각(Cervical Vertebra Angle) 값과 각 근육별 근전도의 차이를 알아보았다. 앞쪽머리자세와 경우에는 목과 등근육의 활성도가 감소하고 피로도는 증가함을 보였다. 이러한 결과는 목과 머리의 불안정한 상태를 안정시키기 위해서는 위등세모근, 깊은목굽힘근, 어깨올림근의 신장과 마름근, 아래등세모근의 운동을 통해 거북목의 개선에 긍정적인 변화를 줄 것으로 보인다. 이러한 근육들의 불균형한 수축과 과도한 긴장으로 근육의 경직과 피로가 누적되며 이러한 상태가 계속 유지되게 되면 만성화상태가 되어 근육의 불균형으로 인해 통증을 유발할 수 있으며, 피로의 누적으로 인하여 자극에 대한 반응과 근력을 약화시켜서 목 디스크가 발생할 확률이 높아질 것으로 사료된다.

맥켄지 운동과 멀리건 기법이 경추에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of McKenzie and Mulligan Exercise Training on the Cervical Spine)

  • Background: Many people are suffering from neck and shoulder pain due to muscle weakness, muscle fatigue, lack of exercise and accidents during exercise. In this study we compared the effects of McKenzie method and Mulligan technique method. Method: we randomly selected men(10) and women(10) and they are the 20s students of Busan material K college. We divided for McKenzie exercise group and Mulligan exercise group. McKenzie exercise and mulligan exercise applied cervical area three times a week for three weeks. We compared with pre-experiment and after 1~3 week through measuring the electromyography (EMG) change and neck range of motion (ROM). Results: The changes in the EMG at each exercise group, there was a statistically significant difference in each week. Although there was a significant difference after 1 week between the exercise group, the changes in the neck ROM at each exercise group there was no statistically significant difference. Conclusion: After experiment, EMG and neck ROM were increased in McKenzie exercise group and Mulligan exercise group. But Mulligan exercise group showed the change better than McKenzie exercise group in early stage. We suggest the Mulligan exercise method for recovering in early stage of neck ROM.

전방머리자세에서 목근육 근활성도에 대한 맥켄지 신장운동과 어깨 안정화운동의 효과 비교 (Comparison between McKenzie Stretch Exercise and Scapula Stability Exercise on Neck Muscle Activation in the Forward Head Posture)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of exercise on the neck muscles activities between scapular stability and McKenzie stretch exercise in the forward head posture subjects. Method : After measuring cervical alignment using the Global Posture System, 20 volunteers with forward head posture posture were selected and divided into two groups. The experimental group A(n=15) and Experimental group B(n=15) participated in respectively and McKenzie neck stretching exercise, three times per week for 4 weeks. The scapular stabilization exercise program was comprised middle and lower trapezius strength exercises and the stretching exercise program was comprised levator scapulae and upper trapezius stretching exercise. The activities of the muscles of the posterior neck was then measured using electromyography. Result : After the intervention, there was significant difference of a electromyography activity changes between the pre-test and post-test in the experimental group. Conclusion : This study showed that both scapular stabilization and McKenzie neck stretching exercises are more effective for reducing neck muscles activities.

맥캔지 경부 운동프로그램이 산업체 근로자의 경부압통과 균형에 미치는 영향 (Effects of McKenzie Cervical Exercise Program on Cervical Pressure Pain and Balance in Industrial Workers)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of the McKenzie cervical exercise program on cervical pressure pain and balance in industrial workers. Method : The subjects, who consisted of 26 industrial workers, were randomly divided into two groups. The control group (n=13) went about their daily living routines. The other group (n=13) used the McKenzie cervical exercise program for 6 weeks (2 to 3 times/day). Pressure threshold and balance ability tests were completed before and after the experiment. The balance test was performed both with the eyes open and closed in a standing position. Result : There were significant improvements in the pressure threshold and balance ability test for the McKenzie cervical exercise program group (p<.05), while the control group showed no significant changes (p>.05). Conclusion : The above results revealed that the McKenzie cervical exercise program is effective in improving balance and cervical pressure pain.

관절가동운동이 경부통에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Joint Mobilization on Neck Pain)

  • To identify the effects of joint mobilization on the functional improvement of patients with neck pain, the present research investigated 60 neck pain patients, dividing them into a group doing joint mobilization, a group doing Mckenzie exercise and a group using modalities. This study examined patients degree of recovery from neck pain by comparing their neck pain before and after the treatment, and compared three groups to find difference in the degree of recovery from neck pain. The results of this study are as follows : 1. For the joint mobilization group, the visual analogue scale (VAS) decreased significantly for three weeks treatment, and the range of motion (ROM) of cervical vertebrae increased significantly(p<.05). 2. For the Mckenzie exercise group, the visual analogue scale decreased significantly for three weeks treatment, and the range of motion cervical vertebrae increased significantly(p<.05). 3. For the modality using group, the visual analogue scale decreased significantly for three weeks treatment, and the range of motion of cervical vertebrae increased significantly(p<.05). 4. In the comparison of VAS and ROM of the three groups before and after the treatment, significant differences were found among the three groups in VAS after three weeks' treatment, and in ROM before the treatment(p<.05). 5. In all the three groups, VAS decreased and the ROM of cervical vertebrae increased after the treatment, and in particular, the decrease of VAS and the increase of the ROM of cervical vertebrae were remarkable in the joint mobilization group.

요추 질환에 대한 신기공 오금희의 동작연구 - 20식, 30식, 40식을 중심으로 - (Study on the Movement of New Qi-gong "WuQinXi" Exercise for Lumbar Spinal Disease : Based on 20 Mode, 30 Mode, 40 Mode)

  • The "WuQinXi" exercise, one of the medical Qi-gongs, is an exercise maximizing human's self healing power and has been confirmed to be effective significantly at several modern researches. There are many exercise therapies in western medcine, such as Willams's flexion exercise, Mckenzie's extension exercise, vertebral stabilization exercise and so on. However, there isn't a special exercise therapy which can be applied for medical practice in oriental medicine. So we selected 24 motions which are related with lumbar movements from 3 type "WuQinXi" exercises ; 20 mode, 30 mode, and 40 mode. And then, we classified them according to lumbar movements as flexion, extention, lateral bending and rotation, and also functions as stabilization and rubbing. Next, with these classifications, we assorted them by kinds of lumbar spinal disease as HIVD(herniation of intervertebral disc), spinal stenosis, spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis, facet joint syndrome, compression fracture and spondylosis. We expect that "WuQinXi" exercise be a exercise therapy for lumbar spinal disease at an oriental medical clinic in this way. Oriental medical doctors will be able to teach easily patients "WuQinXi" exercise's motions at clinic, depending on kinds of lumbar spinal disease each patient suffers from. We plan to study the effect of "WuQinXi" exercise by comparing patients who do the "WuQinXi" exercise with the patients who do the western medical exercise therapy.
