전기유변현상 해석을 위하여 Onsager 이론으로 확장한 Maxwell-Wagner 분극 모델 (Extended Maxwell-Wagner Polarization Model with Onsager Theory for the Electrorheological Phenomena)

  • 전기유변(ER) 현상을 위해 제시된 메커니즘들이 중에서 정전기 분극 모델과 전도 모델이 이론적인 측면에서 적합한 것으로 알려져 있다. 그러나 이 모델들은 자체적인 제한들 때문에 효과적인 ER 액체의 개발에 적절한 도움이 되지 못했다. 이 문제를 해결하기 위해 Onsager 이론으로 확장한 Maxwell-Wagner 분극 모델을 개발하였다. 확장한 Maxwell-Wagner 분극 모델은 항복응력의 전기장 주파수 및 전기장 크기의 비제곱 의존성을 설명할 수 없는 정전기 분극 모델의 단점과 전기장 하에서의 입자의 미세 구조 변화를 예측할 수 없는 전도 모델의 단점을 해결할 수 있었다. 또한 이 모델은 정전기 분극 모델과 전도 모델에서 예측할 수 없었던 항복응력에의 입자 전도도 영향을 고려할 수 있는 장점도 있어 효과적인 ER 액체의 개발에 기여하리라 판단된다.

  • Organic field-effect transistor (FET) based on a copper Phthalocyanine (CuPc) material as an active layer and a $SiO_2$ as a gate insulator were fabricated and analyzed. We measured the typical FET characteristics of CuPc in air. The electrical characteristics of the CuPc FET device were analyzed by a Maxwell-Wagner model. The Maxwell-Wagner model employed in analyzing double-layer dielectric system was helpful to explain the C-V and I-V characteristics of the FET device. In order to further clarity the channel formation of the CuPc FET, optical second harmonic generation (SHG) measurement was also employed. Interestingly, SHG modulation was not observed for the CuPc FET. This result indicates that the accumulation of charge from bulk CuPc makes a significant contribution.

  • Analyzing pentacene field effect transistors (FETs) with Au source and drain electrodes as Maxwell-Wagner effect elements, electron and hole injection from the Au electrodes into the FET channel were examined using current-voltage (I-V), capacitance-voltage (C-V) and optical second harmonic generation (SHG) measurements. Based on these results, a mechanism of the hole and electron injection into pentacene from the Au electrodes and subsequently recombination mechanism with light-emitting in the pentacene layer are discussed, with taking into account the presence of trapped charges.

Interfacial Effects in Filled and Reinforced Polymeric Composites

  • Interfacial effect in polymetric composites have been studied extensively. This report deals mainly with the effects of interfacial space charge and interface structure. A model for the dynamic process of interfacial space charge accumulation is proposed. The new model might interpret some interface phenomena which is difficult to be explained in terms of traditional Maxwell-Wagner theory. An interface structure is also presented, by which the importance of surface treatment of glass Fiber for improving the properties of FRP could be well understood.

  • Poly[bis(methoxyethoxyethoxy)phosphazene] : MEEP와 물로 구성된 두 종류 섞임체의 유전 상수를 임계온도 근처에서 측정하고 유전상수의 비정상성이 일어나는 온도와 농도를 사용하여 공존곡선을 얻었다. 공존곡선으로부터 얻어진 MEEP-물의 임계온도와 임계농도는 각각 $71^{\circ}C$, 5.5%이었다. 상전이 온도 근처에서 유전상수의 임계지수, $\theta$는 0.85였다. 유전상수의 주파수 의존도인 Maxwell-Wagnetr효과에 대해서 논의한다.

  • Using pentacene field effect transistors (FETs) with Au source and drain electrodes, electron injection from the Au electrodes into the pentacene was investigated. The capacitance-voltage (C-V) and optical second harmonic generation (SHG) measurements were employed. Electron injection from the Au electrodes was suggested by the hysteresis behavior with the C-V characteristics and slowly decaying SHG signal under DC biasing, A mechanism of hole-injection assisted by trapped electrons is proposed. To confirm electron injection process, light-emitting behavior under the application of AC applied voltage was observed.

  • In this study we tried to measure the effect of magnetic field on the dielectric properties of $BaTiO_3-MgFe_2O_4$ soft magnetic composite. Composites with different weight percents of ferroelectric and ferromagnetic phases were subjected to magnetic field in the order of 0 to 450 Oe and the variation of the dielectric properties was observed. The Variation of dielectric polarization was discussed in terms of Maxwell-Wagner type polarization in particulate composites.

  • In this paper, the dielectric properties of epoxy composites used for transformers are studied. The dielectric permittivity and loss of specimen are measured at the temperature range of 20[$^{\circ}C$]~150[$^{\circ}C$] about frequency 30[Hz], 1[kHZ] and 30[kHz] respectively from a series of experiments. Consequently, observed higher values of dielectric permittivity and loss in filled epoxy are attributed to Maxwell-Wagner Polarization effect. Also, glass transition temperature was shifted to higher temperature and value of dielectric permittivity and loss were decreased due to 2nd curing.

  • Estimation of the dielectric properties of insulating silicone rubbers added reinforcing fillers $(SiO_2,\;0{\sim}140phr)$ are very important to investigate the polymer structure. The characteristies of the dielectric absorption in insulating silicone rubbers were studied in the frequency range from 30Hz to 1MHz at the temperature range from $0{\sim}170^{\circ}C$. In the case of non-filled specimen, the dielectric loss is due to the syloxane which is the main chain of silicone rubber at the low temperature below $50^{\circ}C$ and the frequency at 330Hz, and is due to methyl and vinyl radical over the frequency of 1MHz. It is confirmed that the methyl radical or the vinyl radical becomes thermal oxidation at the high temperature over $100^{\circ}C$ and then the dielectric disperssing owing to the carboxyl radical Is appeared. In the case of filled specimen, the dielectric constant is in creased with the additives of reinforcing fillers due to the effect of interfacial polarization explained by MWS(Maxwell-Wagner-Sillars)'s law. The dielectric loss is decreased by the disturbance of reinforcing fillers that is permeated between networks.

  • 반도성 고분자인 폴리아닐린과 폴리파라페닐렌을 이용한 전기유변유체의 유변학적 및 전기적 특성을 고찰하였다. 이들 반도성 고분자 현탁액은 분산입자와 현탁매질의 전기전도도 차이로 인하여 직류 전기장 하에서 큰 점도 증가를 보였다. 전기유변효과로 기인한 동적 항복응력은 낮은 전기장 하에서는 전기장 제곱에의 의존성을 보였으나 높은 전기장 하에서는 전기장의 1승에 비례하는 거동을 나타내었다. 항복 응력은 분산입자의 전기전도도가 증가함에 따라 최대값을 보이다가 다시 감소하는 현상을 나타내었다. 직류 전기장 하에서의 이러한 항복 응력 거동은 전도도 효과에 의한 맥스웰-와그너 계면편극화로 설명되는 현탁액의 유전 특성과 관련됨을 발견하였다. 계면 편극화 효과가 전기유변현상에 미치는 영향에 대한 더 깊은 이해와 분산액의 침강 안정성 개선을 위하여, 전기유변 효과의 조절이 가능할 뿐 아니라 현탁액의 콜로이드 안정성을 향상시킬 수 있는 여러 가지의 계면 활성제의 영향을 피력하였다.
