  • This paper is about the recent development of the magnetic impact actuator for endoscope. The developed magnetic impact actuator has many problems to arrange in the system body. Because the magnetic impact actuator need a permanent magnet as an impacter, so the magnetic interference among magnets can not be eliminated. This interference causes the system size bigger. We need a new actuator design to solve these problems. One of the good solutions is to use the closed electro-magnetic circuit. This kind of circuit enhances the actuators to be independent. It is written about the design of the electro-magnetic circuit and simulation using Maxwell(version 9.0)

영구자석을 이용한 새로운 MR 브레이크의 해석 (Analysis of a Novel MR Rotary Brake with Permanent Magnet)

  • In this paper, a novel MR brake with permanent magnet is developed. This system consists of rotary disk, permanent magnet, spring and MR fluid. Permanent magnets are attached to the rotary disk and moves in the direction of radius. The magnets are linked to rotor axis by spring. As rotation speed increases, the magnets move outward from the center of the system by centrifugal force in the MR fluid. A proper design of stator or case makes the system have unique torque characteristics. The research is performed like following procedures. First, the electromagnetic characteristic of the system is analyzed using Maxwell. Next, torque is calculated using the results of the electromagnetic analysis. Finally, the performance of various types of the brake systems are investigated and compared with each other.

전기장 변화에 따른 3차원 비정상 상태 열전달 연계 해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the 3-D Unsteady State Heat Transfer Coupled by Conductive Currents)

  • A modeling technique for the 2-way coupling of heat transfer and conduction currents has been performed to inspire a combined analytical simulation. The 3-D finite element method is used to solve steady conduction currents and heat generation in an aluminum film deposited on a silicon substrate. The model investigates the temperature in the device after the current is applied. The conservation equation of energy, the Maxwell equations for conduction currents, the unsteady state heat transfer equation and the Fourier's law for heat transfer are implemented as a bidirectionally coupled problem. It is found that the strongly coupled temperature and time dependent heat equations give a reasonable results and an explicit solving technique.

  • Viscous fluid damper is used for vibration isolation of piping system, presses, turbo-generator and other heavy industrial equipments, as well as seismic isolation of buildings structure. So dynamic characteristic of viscous fluid damper is very important. This paper presents the result of the study of dynamic characteristic of viscous fluid damper. And the force-displacement relation of the viscous damper is described by experimentally calibrated fractional derivative Maxwell Model. The proposed model is validated by dynamic testing and A good agreement between predicted and experimental results is obtained.

스트립 라인 배선 구조를 갖는 고성능 PQFP 패키지 (High performance Plastic Quad Flat Package (PQFP) with The Strip Line Interconnect Structure)

  • 본논문에서는 현재 다 핀용 패키지로 주종을 이루고 있는 기존의 PQEP의 성능을 향상시키기 위하여 스트립 라인 배선 구조를 갖는 새로운 PQEP를 제안하였다. 기존의 208 핀 PQFP와 제안한 208핀 PQFP의 전기적 특성을 Ansoft사의 Maxwell TMA사의 Raphael 과 Avanti사의 HSPICE를 이용하여 시뮬레이션하여 비교하였다. 새로운 패키지에서는 신호 선과 파워버스라인을 스트립 구조로 만들고 감결합커패시터를 장착하여 크로스톡 잡음과 스 위칭 잡음을 크게 감소시켰다. 패키지의 리드프레임을 스트립구조로 만들기 위하여 구리가 도포된 유연성 쿠폰을 리드프레임의양측면에 부착하였다. 신호선의 특성 임피던스는 쿠폰의 유전층 두께변화를 조절함으로써 최적화하였고 유전층 두께가 100$\mu$mdlfEo 45$\Omega$의 값을 얻 었다. 시뮬레이션 결과와 측정결과 32개의 소자가 동시에 스위칭하고 전원/접지핀이 전체 리드 수의 33%일 때 동작주파수가 330Mhz됨을 확인하였으며 이는 기존 PQFP의 최대 동 작주파수인 100MHz에 비하여 3배 이상 향상됨을 보였다.

  • A physical phenomenon is observed through analysis of the Hodgkin-Huxley's model that is, according to Maxwell field equations a fired neuron can yield magnetic fields. The magnetic signals are an output of the neuron as some type of information, which may be supposed to be the conscious control information. Therefore, study on neural networks should take the field effect into consideration. Accordingly, a study on the behavior of a unit neuron in the field is made and a new neuron model is proposed. A mathematical Memory-Learning Relation has been derived from these new neuron equations, some concepts of memory and learning are introduced. Two learning theorems are put forward, and the control mechanisms of memory are also discussed. Finally, a theory, i.e. Neural Electromagnetic(NEM) field theory is advanced.

RTA용 반강체 동축케이블 안테나 (Semi-rigid Coaxial Cable Antenna for RTA)

  • Radiofrequency thermal ablation (RTA) as one of the microwave hyperthermia is becoming the treatment of choice for small but inoperable tumors of the liver. In this paper, we designed the applicator composed of semi-rigid coaxial cable antenna with a ring slot for RTA. To optimize the maximum output of radiation at 2450 MHz, we simulated the antenna using Electromagnetic simulation tools Maxwell program and analyzed the return loss and the electric field $E_{tot}$ at the near-field region between the simulation results and measurement results. As a result, we obtained the return loss of -29.786 dB at 2450 MHz when the antenna was placed between two blocks of a pig's liver, and the measurement results agreed with the simulation results well. Therefore, this semi-rigid coaxial cable antenna with a ring slot can be used very usefully as the applicator for RTA.r RTA.A.

벽면이동 로봇용 하이브리드 자석바퀴 3차원 유한요소해석 및 설계 (Design of Hybrid Magnet Wheels using 3D Finite Element Analysis for Wall-climbing Robot)

  • We propose a new design of the hybrid-magnet wheel to make it possible for a mobile robot to be attached to the vertical plane and be in motion. In the new suggested design, a permanent magnet is utilized to enhance the adhesive force, while an electromagnet is adopted to reduce the magnetic field and the adhesive force for detaching easily. To analysis the performance of the robot, 3 dimensional finite element analysis is executed using commercial electromagnetic analysis program, Maxwell. The results show that the adhesive force is reduced effectively by the electromagnet in the new designed robot system.

대면적 FPD 글래스 수직 이송용 클린 비접촉식 컨베이어 구동부 설계 및 해석 (Design and Analysis of a Clean Non-contact type Conveyor's Driving Mechanism for Vertical Transfer of FPD Glass)

  • The clean non-contact type conveyor system for vertical transfer of large size FPD(Flat Panel Display) glasses has been installed at FPD production line just since a few years ago. The most important part of the conveyor is the 3 axis permanent magnet rollers faced orthogonally in pairs. However, the systematic design method about it has not been proposed yet. In this paper, we studied a design analysis for determining geometrical parameters of the magnetic roller by using a commercial FEM tool of the 3D Maxwell. Through a series of simulation, we obtained the relationship of several geometrical parameters affecting the torque of the conveyor.

Overlapped Electromagnetic Coilgun for Low Speed Projectiles

  • This paper presents a new overlapped coilgun configuration to launch medium weight projectiles. The proposed configuration consists of a two-stage coilgun with overlapped coil covers with spacing between them. The theoretical operation of a multi-stage coilgun is introduced, and a transient simulation was conducted for projectile motion through the launcher by using a commercial transient finite element software, ANSOFT MAXWELL. The excitation circuit design for each coilgun is reported, and the results indicate that the overlapped configuration increased the exit velocity relative to a non-overlapped configuration. Different configurations in terms of the optimum length and switching time were attempted for the proposed structure, and all of these cases exhibited an increase in the exit velocity. The exit velocity tends to increase by 27.2% relative to that of a non-overlapped coilgun of the same length.
