This study evaluated the photocatalytic oxidation of BPA using the RPOD reactor under various conditions. This study found that the RPOD was effective for BPA degradation. It could reduce 1 mg/L of BPA by half within 5 min under the optimum conditions. According to the study results, $TiO_2$ coating was important for the BPA oxidation. As the coating thickness increased, the removal efficiency improved. The light source, the light intensity and the drum rotating speed were important for the oxidation. The UV light was more effective for the BPA degradation than the visible light. The removal efficiency improved with increasing intensity. As the drum speed increased, the removal efficiency improved. The maximum speed was 240 rpm in this study. Addition of air and nitrogen was not beneficial for the BPA degradation in this study probably due to enough oxygen in the water.
Waste paper cup was sulfonated to be used as ion exchanger. Removal characteristic of copper and lead ion by prepared ion exchanger was investigated. The sulfonation was conformed by the high intensity band of $SO_3H$ group around 1100~$1160cm^{-1}$. The synthesized ion exchanger had greater removal ability for copper and lead ion than the original waste paper cup. Ion exchange system reached the final equilibrium plateau within 30min. The maximum removal capacities $q_{max}$ were calculated as 9.79mg/g fur copper and 15.95mg/g for lead, respectively. The affinity of lead based on a weight was higher than that of copper. The ion exchange phenomena appeared to follow a typical Freundlich isotherm.
Numerical analysis is carried out to assess the temperature distribution on the mixing tee line of Residual Heat Removal System (RHRS). In RHRS, hot and cold fluids of main and bypass piping are mixed and unmixed by the flow rate or piping layout. Thermal stratification phenomenon is a cause of major degradation on RHRS piping. According to the analysis for each operation modes, maximum temperature difference between top and bottom of piping were evaluated about 60K when the flow rate of main and bypass lines is same. Temperature difference will be decreased at the elbow on RHRS piping if the length of vertical piping is increased.

Solid/Liquid(S/L) separation is crucial for biological treatment of animal wastewater. Liquid portion from S/L separation has less BOD-load and proper post-strip treatment can be obtained . Screen or declined sieve was normally used to separate the solid parts. For better separating efficiency a vibration and a cylindrical separator were constructed and tested. The results are summarized as follows : Solids removal efficiency and moisture content of separated solid were 15-26% and 85-88%, respectively for the vibration separator. For the cylindrical separator, solid removal efficiency and moisture content of solid were 16-39% and 86-89% , respectively. The greatest amount of drymatter was obtained when operating vibration separator with 10。 inclination and 100% vibrating power. For the cylindrical separator maximum efficiency was obtained with 40rpm and 19 inclination . The vibration and the cylindrical separator have shown 21% and 26% in BOD removal, respectively. These two types of separator were proved to be applicable methods for animal wastewater separation.

The performance of vision-based intelligent systems, such as self-driving cars and unmanned aerial vehicles, is subject to weather conditions, notably the frequently encountered haze or fog. As a result, studies on haze removal have garnered increasing interest from academia and industry. This paper hereby presents a 4K-capable hardware implementation of an efficient haze removal algorithm with the following two improvements. First, the depth-dependent haze distribution is predicted using a linear model of four haze-relevant features, where the model parameters are obtained through maximum likelihood estimates. Second, the approximated quad-decomposition method is adopted to estimate the atmospheric light. Extensive experimental results then follow to verify the efficacy of the proposed algorithm against well-known benchmark methods. For real-time processing, this paper also presents a pipelined architecture comprised of customized macros, such as split multipliers, parallel dividers, and serial dividers. The implementation results demonstrated that the proposed hardware design can handle DCI 4K videos at 30.8 frames per second.

A lab-scale test was carried out to study the reduction of electrical energy consumption in the pulsed corona discharge process for nitrogen oxides removal. The experiment was mainly focused on 1) the activation of pollution removal reactions by chemical additives and 2) the optimization of electrical circuit for the efficient energy transfer from the power supply to the corona reactor. Hydrocarbon chemical additives used in the experiment are thought to be responsible for the enhancement of the NO conversion through the chain reactions of free radicals such as, R, RCO, and RO. Electrical energy consumption per converted NO molecule has a minimum value of 17 eV when pentanol is injected. When ethylene and propylene are injected, 30 eV and 22 eV of electrical energy consumption is required for the conversion of NO molecule respectively. The ratio of the pulse forming capacitance$(C_e)$ to the reactor capacitance$(C_R)$ plays an important role in the energy transfer efficiency to the reactor. Maximum energy transfer efficiency of approximately 72% could be obtained by using the pulse forming capacitance which is 3.4 times larger than the reactor capacitance, and also the maximum NO conversion efficiency was observed with the same condition.
Mercury is a toxic pollutants present in different types of industrial effluents and is responsible for environmental pollution. Removal of Hg(II) ions from synthetic wastewater was studied using the activated biocarbon produced from the leaves of Tridax procumbens (Asteraceae). The particle size of the biocarbon (BC) is in the range of $100-120{\mu}m$. The effects of initial metal ion concentration, pH, contact time, and amount of biocarbon on the biosorption process were studied at temperature of $28{\pm}2^{\circ}C$. Batch experimental studies showed that an equilibrium time of 160 min was required for the maximum removal of Hg(II) at the optimized biocarbon dose of 2.5 g per 100 mL of synthetic wastewater. The optimum pH required for maximum removal (96.5%) of Hg(II) ions was found to be 5.5. The biosorption of metal ions onto activated biocarbon surface is probably via an ion exchange mechanism. The biocarbon can be regenerated with minimum loss. Further, it can be reused without any chemical activation. The findings of the research suggested that, the biocarbon produced from cost effective renewable resources can be utilized for the treatment of industrial wastewater.
In this study, cherry kernel shell pyrolytic charcoal was synthesized (CKSC) and composite beads were obtained by blending this pyrolytic charcoal with chitosan and Fe2O3 nanoparticles (Fe-C-CKSC). Cr(VI) adsorption from aqueous solutions by Fe-C-CKSC composite beads and CKSC adsorbents was studied comparatively. The effects of Cr(VI) initial concentration, adsorbent dosage, contact time, pH and temperature parameters on Cr(VI) adsorption were investigated. Adsorption reached an equilibrium point within 120 min for CKSC and Fe-C-CKSC adsorbents. The maximum Cr(VI) removal was obtained at the initial pH value of 1.56 for CKSC and 2.00 for Fe-C-CKSC. The optimum adsorbent dosage was found to be 5 g/L for CKSC and 3 g/L for Fe-C-CKSC. Based on the Langmuir model, the maximum adsorption capacities were calculated as 14.455 mg/g and 47.576 mg/g for CKSC and Fe-C-CKSC, respectively. Thermodynamic and kinetic studies were performed. As a result of adsorption kinetics calculations, adsorption was found to be consistent with the pseudo second order kinetic model. Characterization of the synthesized adsorbents was performed by SEM, BET, FTIR and elemental analysis. This study has shown that low cost adsorbents CKSC and Fe-C-CKSC can be used in Cr(VI) removal from aqueous solutions.

This study provides the optimal conditions treating with the coagulation process and the other chemical treatment processes for dyeing wastewater, especially various dyeing complex wastewater. The results are shown as follows: 1. Optimum reaction condition of pH for ferrous sulfate was the range of 9 to 12. And when 3,000ppm(mg/l) of ferrous sulfate was dosed, the maximum $COD_{Mn}$ removal rate was approximately 40%. 2. In case of ferrous chloride and Bittern as coagulants, optimum pH range was 10 to 11. And maximum $COD_{Mn}$ removal rate was approximately 46% to 50% for dose of 2,000ppm(mg/l) to 6,000 ppm. 3. It is confirmed that the activated sludge process following coagulation precipitation method provides better treatment efficiency than the coagulation precipitation method following the activated sludge process. 4. The purpose of this study was to produce CGF (Cyanoguanidineformaldehyde resin) by organic compounds. 5. The complex coagulation agent by this study is the most economical coagulant with Alum(aluminum sulfate) and the removal efficiency is approximately 54% with 1,000ppm(mg/l) of pH range 6 to 7.
In the present work, the optimization of machining parameters to achieve the desired technological parameters such as surface roughness, tool radial vibration and material removal rate have been carried out using response surface methodology (RSM). The hard turning of EN19 alloy steel with coated carbide (GC3015) cutting tools was studied. The main problem faced in manufacturer of hard and high precision components is the selection of optimum combination of cutting parameters for achieving required quality of surface finish with maximum production rate. This problem can be solved by development of mathematical model and execution of experiments by RSM. A face centred central composite design (FCCD), which comes under the RSM approach, with cutting parameters (cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut) was used for statistical analysis. A second-order regression model were developed to correlate the cutting parameters with surface roughness, tool vibration and material removal rate. Consequently, numerical and graphical optimization were performed to obtain the most appropriate cutting parameters to produce the lowest surface roughness with minimal tool vibration and maximum material removal rate using desirability function approach. Finally, confirmation experiments were performed to verify the pertinence of the developed mathematical models.
