Performance Analysis of HDR-WPAN System Using Multiple Antenna Scheme (다중 안테나 방식을 적용한 HDR-WPAN 시스템의 성능분석)

  • In this paper, we analyze the performance of high data rate wireless personal area network (HDR-WPAN) system using multiple antenna scheme, space-time block code in fading channel. Multiple antenna technique is used to improve the error performance by combining the receive signal through multiple receive antenna. Space-time block code is a space-time diversity scheme which can obtain the maximum space diversity gain and easily implements a ML receiver via a simple process. HDR-WPAN system using space-time block code obtain about 14dB diversity gaint at BER 10$^{-5}$ in multipath fading channel. From the simulation result, We confirm that HDR-WPAN system adopting space-time block code has reliable communication even low power.

A Design of High Efficiency Doherty Power Amplifier for Microwave Applications (마이크로파용 고효율 Doherty 전력증폭기 설계)

  • In this paper, the high efficiency Doherty power amplifier has been designed and realized for microwave applications. The Doherty amplifier has been implemented using silicon MRF 281 LDMOS FET. The RF performances cf the Doherty power amplifier (a combination of a class AB carrier amplifier and a bias-tuned class C peaking amplifier) have been compared with those of a class AB amplifier alone. The realized Doherty power amplifier P1dB output power has 33dBm at 2.3GHz frequency. Also the Doherty power amplifier shows 11dB gain and -17.8dB input return loss at 2.3GHz to 2.4GHz. The designed Doherty amplifier has been improved the average PAE by 10% higher efficiency than a class AB amplifier alone. The Maximum PAE of designed Doherty power amplifier has been 39%.

Low Complexity QRD-M Detection Algorithm Based on Adaptive Search Area for MIMO Systems (MIMO 시스템을 위한 적응형 검색범위 기반 저복잡도 QRD-M 검출기법)

  • A very low complexity QRD-M algorithm based on limited search area is proposed for MIMO systems. The conventional QRD-M algorithm calculates Euclidean distance between all constellation symbols and the temporary detection symbol at each layer. We found that performance will not be degraded even if we adaptively restrict the search area of the candidate symbols only to the neighboring points of temporary detection symbol according to the channel condition at each layer. As a channel condition indicator, we employ the channel gain ratio among the layers without necessity of SNR estimation. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme effectively achieves near optimal performance while maintaining the overall average computation complexity much smaller than the conventional QRD-M algorithm.

  • This paper presents a design of low power CMOS LNA(Low Noise Amplifier) for 2.4 GHz ZigBee applications. The proposed circuit has been designed by using TSMC $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process and current-reused two-stage cascade topology. LNA design procedures and the simulation results using ADS(Advanced Design System) are presented in this paper. Simulation results shows that the LNA has a extremely low power dissipation of 1.38mW with a $V_{DD}$ of 1.0V. The LNA also has a maximum gain of 13.38dB, input return loss of -20.37dB, output return loss of -22.48dB and noise figure of 1.13dB.

Compact Slot Antenna for 5.8 GHz RFID (5.8 GHz RFID용 소형 슬롯 안테나)

  • In this paper, a design method for a compact slot antenna for 5.8 GHz RFID band (5.725-5.875 GHz) is studied. The proposed slot antenna is size-reduced by bending both ends of the straight slot in "I"-shape, and a rectangular feed patch is located inside the slot. The effects of slot length, location of feed patch, and width and length of feed patch on the antenna performance are examined. A prototype antenna with optimized parameters for 5.8 GHz band is fabricated on an FR4 substrate and tested experimentally to verify the results of this study. The experimental results show that the frequency band for a VSWR < 3 ranges 5.72-6.13 GHz (bandwidth 410 MHz), and it corresponds fairly well with the simulated band 5.64-5.97 GHz (bandwidth 330 MHz). The fabricated antenna shows good radiation performance such as maximum power density in both directions normal to the slot plane, low cross-polarization level of < -20 dB, and realized gain > 0 dBi within the frequency band.

  • This paper presents about energy input and output modeling for a flywheel energy storage system that can store and supply mechanical energy, which is emerging as one of clean energy sources, and the analysis and control of a PWM inverter system. Moreover, this paper describes flywheel's characteristics related to variations of mechanical and electrical parameters like as voltage and current versus speed characteristics formed as numerical formula and thus simulate behaviour-status of flywheel energy. Also for comparison and analysis between PI control and PDFF control, the modeling, design and analysis to the single-phase full bridge inverter with double loop feedback control is accomplished through numerical description and simulation. Finally, under load condition 0.1[pu], 1[pu]. it is validated that harmonic characteristics for voltage and current wave is controlled within 5% below even dynamics condition.

PRML detection scheme with modified trellis for a MTR code (MTR 코드를 위한 변형된 트렐리스를 갖는 PRML 검출 방법)

  • When codeword sequence has two or less successive transitions, the performance of 4th-order partial response maximum-likelihood (PRML) detector can be improved. However, the code leads to an unacceptable loss of performance due to the low code rate. For a rate 718 code that MTR constraint (i) of each codeword is limited to 2, and j is allowed to be 3 when codewords are connected, we modified the trellis of PRML detector to combine j=2 with J=3. We confirmed that the rate 718 coded 4th-order PRML detection with combined trellis achieves the SNR gain more than 2dB compared to the rate 819 coded 4u_order PRML detection at 10-s BER in high-density longitudinal or perpendicular magnetic recording systems.

Evaluation of Efficiency in the Seoul's Arterial Bus Routes Considering Undesirable Outputs (유해산출물을 고려한 서울시 간선버스노선의 효율성 평가)

  • In order to improve the existing evaluation system of bus services and gain more reasonable analysis outputs, the authors evaluate the efficiency of 113 arterial bus routes in Seoul in 2009 using a modified BCC model considering not only desirable outputs but also undesirable outputs. Each Decision Making Unit (DMU) is assumed to use inputs such as possession costs, operating costs, the ratios of median bus stops overlapped route lengths to produce estimates of desirable outputs (the number of passengers and service satisfaction score) and undesirable outputs (CO2 emissions). According to the analysis, the modified BCC model considering both desirable outputs and undesirable outputs shows more appropriate results. DMUs would be more efficient on average to reduce nearly 10% of the 3 inputs (possession costs, operating costs, and overlapped route lengths) and increase by about 160% the ratios of median bus stops. Also, a Tobit regression analysis is conducted to identify the most effective variables for maximum efficiency and discover that the variable of possession costs and the ratios of median bus stops are statistically significant.

Quasi-Yagi Antenna for Surveillance Sensor (무인 경계용 레이더 센서를 위한 의사 야기 안테나)

  • A Yagi antenna, which is a typical directional antenna, has been designed and fabricated as a surveillance sensor. The proposed Yagi antenna satisfies the requirements as a surveillance sensor; impedance bandwidth of 7.2-8.2GHz, maximum gain of 7dBi, and 3dB beamwidth of $60^{\circ}$ in the azimuthal plane. The proposed Yagi antenna is designed with 3 directors and one driven element on a dielectric substrate. Also, a microstrip-to-CPS balun is designed and applied to the proposed antenna for balanced feeding of the dirven element. The performance of the proposed antenna has been verified by comparing the simulation and measurement results.
