A mathematical model was proposed to analyze the damped motion of contact lens which is initially displaced from the equilibrium position. The model incorporates the differential equations and their numerical solution program, based on the formulations of restoring force arising from the capillary action in the tear-film layer between the lens and cornea. The model predicts the capillary action induced surface tension, time dependence of displacement of lens when it is released from the equilibrium position. It seems that the motion of lens is similar to the typical over-damped oscillation caused by the large viscous friction in the liquid layer between the cornea and lens. The effect of variables such as base curves, lens diameters and thickness of tear film layer were illustrated by the computer simulation of the derived program. The time required for the lens to return to the original position increases as the liquid layer thickness increases and it decreases as the diameter of lens increases. With the certain value of base curve the time interval is found to be minimum. The free vibrations of lenses were also simulated varying the parameters such as base curve, diameter, layer thickness. The resonant frequencies are inversely proportional to the liquid layer thickness and it increases as the lens diameter increases. The resonant frequency of lens has a maximum when the diameter is of certain value. If the external impulse or force of the same frequency as the natural frequency of contact lens acted on the cornea in vivo it may cause an excessive movement and thus it might cause the distortion 10 the lens or be pulled off the eye.

For the 4th generation mobile communication, LTE-advanced system needs the broad frequency band up to 100MHz for providing the data rate of maximum 1Gpbs. However, it is very difficult to secure the broad frequency band in the current frequency allocation situation. So, carrier aggregation was proposed as the solution, in which several fragmented frequency bands are used at the same time. Basically, multiple parallel receivers are required to get the information data from the different frequency bands but this conventional multi-chain receiver system is very inefficient. Therefore, in this paper, we like to study the single chain system that is able to receive the multi-band signals in a single receiver based on the time division multiplexing (TDM) reception method. This proposed TDM receiver efficiently manage to receive the multi-band signals in time domain and handle the baseband signals with one DSP board. However, the serious distortion could be generated by the sampling timing offset (STO) in the TDM-based system. Therefore, we like to analyze STO effects in the TDM-based system and propose a compensation method using estimated STO. Finally, it is shown by simulation that the proposed method is appropriate for the single chain receiver and show good compensation performance.

This study was conducted to evaluate the distortion and data accuracy that may occur depending on the methods employed by the oral scanner (intra-oral scanner). Deseutap 3D models employing a plaster model used clinically as a scanner to create a standard scan data using the same model, separated by oral scanners in three different ways (AS Group, ZS group, OS group) How to scan each 5 times made the scan data for each group, it shows the 0.121 mm, 0.172 mm AS group, OS group 0.423 mm accuracy in ZS group. The ZS group showed the highest accuracy, with maximum error values of 0.113 mm, 0.169 mm and 0.246 being observed for the ZS, AS and OS group, respectively. The three scanning methods showed a clear differences in accuracy and reproducibility and also appeared to be meaningful in clinical practice.
In this paper, an intra prediction offset compensation method is proposed to improve intra prediction in H.264/AVC. In H.264/AVC, intra prediction based on various directions improves the coding efficiency by removing spatial correlation between neighboring blocks. In details, neighboring pixels in reconstructed block can be used as intra reference block for the current block to be coded when intra prediction method is used. In order to reduce further the prediction error of the intra reference block, the proposed method introduces an intra prediction offset which is determined in the sense of the rate-distortion optimization and is added to the conventional intra prediction block. Besides the intra prediction offset compensation, the coefficient thresholding method which is used for inter coding in JM 11.0, is used for chroma component in intra block, which leads the improvement of the luma coding efficiency of the proposed method. In experiments, we show that the proposed method achieves average 2.45% in High Profile condition and maximum 4.41% of bitrate reduction relative to JM 11.0.
We investigated the magnetocrystalline anisotropy of pure ${\alpha}^{{\prime}{\prime}}-Fe_{16}N_2$ by using full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method (FLAPW). A very high magnetic moment was obtained for Fe (4d) site due to the lattice expansion in the z-direction, while the magnetic moment of Fe (4e) and (8h) site were suppressed due to hybridization with neighboring N atom. The calculated spin magnetic moments for different Fe sites (4d, 4e and 8h) were in good agreement with previously reported values. Due to the tetragonal distortion, we found a very large uniaxial anisotropy constant of $0.58MJ/m^3$. Besides, a high value of magnetization of 1.76MA/m was obtained. In additon, the estimated coercive field and maximum energy product of 6.51 kOe and 71.7 MGOe were obtained for pure ${\alpha}^{{\prime}{\prime}}-Fe_{16}N_2$. This may suggest that the ${\alpha}^{{\prime}{\prime}}-Fe_{16}N_2$ can be utilized for potential rare-earth free permanent magnet material.

Helix antennas have been widely applied to satellite TT&C, data communication and GPS receiver systems onboard military, remote sensing and communication purpose satellites. The helix antennas are known to be convenient to control impedance and radiation coverage characteristics with a maximum directivity in satellite z-axis. Waveguide horn is commonly used for radar system that needs ultra-wideband pulse for exploration ground radar and electromagnetic disability measurement etc. It has high efficiency and low reflection characteristics provided by the low-profile shape and suppressed radiation distortion. In this paper, a waveguide horn structure incorporated with helix antenna design is proposed for satellite applications that require ultra-wideband pulse radar and high rate RF data communication link to ground station over wide coverage area. The main design concern is to synthesize variable beam forming pattern based on modified horn-helix combination helicone structure such that multi-mission antenna is implemented applicable for TT&C, earth observation, high data rate transmission. Waveguide horn helps to reduce the overall antenna structure size by introduction fold type reflector connected to the tapered helix antenna. The next generation KOMPSAT satellite currently under development requires high-performance precision attitude control system. We present an initial design of a hybrid hern-helix antenna structure suitable for efficient RF communication module design of multi-purpose satellite systems.

Elastic deformation and fatigue damage can cause the permanent deformation of a kart's frame during turning, affecting the kart's driving performance. A kart's frame does not contain any suspension or differential devices and, therefore, the dynamic behavior caused by torsional deformation when driving along a curve can strongly affect these two kinds of deformations. To analyze the dynamic behavior of a kart along a curved section, the GPS trajectory of the kart is obtained and the torsional stress acting on the kart-frame is measured in real time. The mechanical properties of leisure and racing karts are investigated by analyzing their material properties and conducting a tensile test. The torsional stress concentration and frame distortion are investigated through a stress analysis of the frame on the basis of the obtained results. Leisure and racing karts are tested in each driving condition using driving analysis equipment. The behavior of a kart when being driven along a curved section is investigated through this test. Because load movement occurs owing to centrifugal force when driving along a curve, torsional stress acts on the kart's steel frame. In the case of a leisure kart, the maximum torsional stress derived from the torsional fatigue limit was found to be 230 MPa, and the torsional fatigue limit coefficient was 0.65 when driving at a speed of 40 km/h. Furthermore, the driving elements during the cornering of a kart were measured based on an actual auto-test after installing a driving measurement system, and the driving behavior of the kart was analyzed by measuring its vertical displacement.

The global navigation satellite system (GNSS), which is the core technique for the location based service, adopts the direct sequence/spread spectrum (DS/SS) as its modulation method. The success of a DS/SS system depends on the synchronization between the received and locally generated pseudo noise (PN) signals. As a step in the synchronization process, the tacking scheme performs fine adjustment to bring the phase difference between the two PN signals to zero. The most widely used tracking scheme is the delay locked loop with early minus late discriminator (EL-DLL). In the ideal case, the EL-DLL is the best estimator among various DLL. However, in the band-limited multipath environment, the EL-DLL has tracking bias. In this paper, the timing offset range of correlation function is divided into advanced offset range (AOR) and delayed offset range (DOR) centering around the correct synchronization time point. The tracking bias results from the following two reasons: symmetry distortion between correlation values in AOR and DOR, and mismatch between the time point corresponding to the maximum correlation value and the synchronization time point. The former and latter are named as the type I and type II tracking bias, respectively. In this paper, when the receiver has finite bandwidth in the presence of multipath signals, it is shown that the type II tracking bias becomes a more dominant error factor than the type I tracking bias, and the correlation values in AOR are not almost changed. Exploiting these characteristics, we propose a novel tracking bias mitigation scheme and demonstrate that the tracking accuracy of the proposed scheme is higher than that of the conventional scheme, both in the presence and absence of noise.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to design a variable frequency LED light system for plant factory which combined red, blue, green, white, and UV lights and controlled the ratio of the light wavelength. In addition, this study evaluated the performance of each combination of LED to verify the applicability. Methods: Four combinations of LED (i.e. Red+Blue, Red+Blue+Green, Red+Blue+White, Red+Blue+UV) were designed using five types of LED. The system was designed to control the duty ratio of each wavelength of LED by 1% interval from 0~100%, the pulse by 1Hz interval from 1~20kHz. Response characteristics of the control system, spectral distribution of each combination, light uniformity and uniformity ratio were measured to test the performance of the system. Results: Clean waveforms were measured from 10Hz to 10kHz regardless of duty ratio. Frequency distortion was observed within 5% of inflection point at frequencies above 10kHz regardless of duty ratio, but it was judged negligible. Spectra showed a normal distribution, and maximum PPF with duty ratio of 100% was $271.4{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$ for the Red+Blue combination. PPF of the Red+Blue+Green combination was $258.9{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$, and that of the Red+Blue+White combination was $273.9{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$. PPF of the Red+Blue+UV combination was $267.7{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$. Uniformity ratio for the area excepting border showed 0.90 for the Red+Blue and Red+Blue+White combinations, 0.87 for the Red+Blue+Green combination, and 0.88 for the Red+Blue+UV combination. The light was irradiated evenly at the area excepting border, so it was suitable for plant growing. Conclusions: From the results of this study, response characteristics of the control system, spectral distribution of each combination, light uniformity and uniformity ratio were suitable for applying into the plant factory.

Wood shrinkage, an important study subject with regard to the use of wood, has long been studied by researchers. However, when the size of a wood specimen is measured, distortion must be taken into account, which can be accomplished by applying external force on the wood specimen. However, when measuring a large number of specimens, this technique can be a lengthy process. If the size is measured and the shrinkage is calculated from images acquired with a flatbed scanner, it is possible to reduce the error in the measurement and to shorten the measurement time because the images of many specimens can be acquired with one scan. To clearly establish the boundary between a wood specimen and the background in a scan, an image threshold method was applied here. The size of a wood specimen measured by means of a scanner image was found to be longer than the value determined with a vernier caliper. The maximum pixel size of a scan image for highly accurate shrinkage calculations compared with the use of a vernier caliper was 0.053 mm/pixel.
