Development of a Multi-joint Robot Manipulator for Robot Milking System (로봇 착유시스템을 위한 다관절 매니퓰레이터 개발)

  • The purpose of this study was the development of a multi-joint robot manipulator for milking robot system. The multi-joint robot manipulator was controlled by 5 drivers with driver controller through the position information obtained from the image processing system. The robot manipulator to automatically attach each teat cup to the teats of a milking cow was developed and it's motion was accurately measured with error rate. Results were as follows. 1. Maximum errors in position accuracy were 4mm along X-axis, 4.5mm along Y-axis and 0.9mm along Z-axis. Absolute distance errors were maximum 4.8mm, minimum 2.7mm, and average 3.6mm. 2. Errors of repeatability were maximum 3.0mm along X-axis, 3.0mm along Y-axis, and 0.5mm along Z-axis. Distance error values were maximum 3.2mm, minimum 2.2mm, and average 2.5mm. It is envisaged that multi-joint robot manipulator can be applicate to milking robot system being developed in consideration of the experiment results.

Setting an Initial Validation Gate based on Signal Intensity for Target Tracking in IR Image Sequences (적외선 영상에서 표적 추적을 위한 신호세기 기반 초기 유효게이트 설정 방법)

  • This paper describes a method to set an intensity-based initial validation gate for tracking filter while preserves the ability of tracking a target with maximum speed. First, we collected real data set of signal versus distance of an airplane target. And at each data point, we computed maximum distance the target can move. And a function is modeled to expect the maximum moving pixels on the lateral direction based on the intensity of the detected target in IR image sequence. The initial prediction error covariance can be computed using this function to decide the size of the initial validation gate. The simulation results show the proposed method can set the appropriate initial validation gates to track the targets with the maximum speed.

  • A typical approach to visualizing k (${\geq}2$)-group multidimensional data is to use Fisher's canonical discriminant analysis (CDA). CDA finds the best low-dimensional subspace that accommodates k group centroids in the Mahalanobis space. This paper proposes an alternative visualization procedure functioning in the Euclidean space, which finds the primary dimension with maximum discrimination of k group centroids and the secondary dimension with maximum dispersion of all observational units. This hybrid procedure is especially useful when the number of groups k is two.

Gene flow from herbicide resistant genetically modified rice to conventional rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivars

  • Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is an important feeding crop in Asia, and utilization of genetically modified (GM) rice is highly demanding. For co-existence of GM rice and non-GM rice, the proper confinement measures should be provided. Thus, we surveyed gene flow from herbicide resistant GM rice to the conventional rice cultivars in the field tests. Gene flow frequency decreased with increasing distance between the pollen donor and recipients and did not exceed more than 1% even at the nearest distance. In single recipient model plot, a maximum gene flow frequency was observed at the shortest distance and hybrid was detected up to 12 m from the pollen donor. The direction of gene was coincided with the dominant wind direction. Gene flow assessment to multiple recipient plots was conducted under the high raining season by chance, and abrupt decline of gene flow frequency and maximum distance were resulted. According to the survey results, current regulation for isolation distance is reasonable for environmental safety or for general crop production. However, we suggest an alternative measure for GM rice cultivation that should be supplemented to overcome the out of estimation and in the environment asking higher security levels.

HD-CCTV System Design with Extended Transmission Distance using Digital Modulation (디지털 변조를 적용하여 전송거리가 확장된 HD-CCTV 시스템 설계)

  • In this paper, a digital closed-circuit television (CCTV) transmission system called the extended reach high definition serial digital interface (ER-SDI) is proposed to increase the transmission distance while preserving the quality using digital modulation. The current standard of HD-serial digital interface (HD-SDI) has the maximum transmission distance of 200 m. Recently, one system which transforms the digital signal to an analog signal and modulates color signal to extend the transmission distance is proposed. Another system which uses IP network is also proposed. However, the former system has a disadvantage of video quality and the latter system has high latency. The proposed ER-SDI is designed to extend the transmission distance of 518 m by adopting multilevel constellations and a channel code for a data rate of 1.485 Gbps. The maximum transmission distance of the proposed system is calculated using the specification of HD-SDI and the experiment result under coaxial cable environment.

  • Recently, with the IPTV services, e-learning, real-time broadcasting and e-contents, many application services need the multicasting routing protocol. In this paper, the performance of the algorithm to assign the rendezvous router (RP: rendezvous point) in the center-based multicasting mesh network is analyzed. The estimated distance to select RP in the candidate nodes is calculated, and the node minimizing the distance is selected as the optimal RP. We estimate the distance by using the maximum distance, average distance, and mean of the maximum and average distance between the RP and members. The performance of the algorithm is compared with the optimal algorithm of all enumeration. With the assumptions of mesh network and randomly positioned for sources and members, the simulations for different parameters are studied. From the simulation results, the performance deviation between the algorithm with minimum cost and optimal method is evaluated as 6.2% average.

A Study on the Feeding Distance of Aluminium Alloy Casting (알루미늄합금(合金) 주물(鑄物)의 급탕(給湯)거리에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • In order to determine the feeding distance of aluminiun alloys (Alsi7Mg and AlCu4Ti) bar castings in the sand mold, the distance of the sound castings has been observed by radiograph for various risers, melt treatment, and casting design. Variation of porosity and hardness with the distance from the riser were also measured in order to determine the casting soundness. The results obained were as follows; 1) The modulus of riser should be 1.4 times of the casting`s 2) The maximum distance which can be made sound is greatly dependent on chemical composition and ingate location, and follows the rules given by the formula; a) When the melt flows into the casting first, and the riser afterward, D = 37.7 ${\sqrt{T}}$ for AlSi7Mg D = 31.2 ${\sqrt{T}}$ for pure aluminium D ${\ge}$ 54.8 ${\sqrt{T}}$ for AlCu4Ti Where T = casting thickness in mm Of this maximum distance, $aa{\sqrt{T}}$ for AlSi7Mg and 7.5 ${\sqrt{T}}$ for pure aluminium is made sound by the chilling effect of the casting edge. b) When the melt flows into the casting passing through the riser, $30{\times}30{\times}600mm$ bars can be made sound in all cases 3) Percentage of porosity is higer in AlCu4Ti than AlSi7Mg. And it is increased gradually by moving closer to the riser in case of $30{\times}30{\times}600mm$ bars, but for the $30{\times}30{\times}600mm$ bars it is increased gradually by moving closer to the center of bars. 4) Hardness variation is similar to the tendency of porosity. And it decreased gradually with approaching to the center in case of $30{\times}30{\times}600mm$ bars.

  • In this paper, One-way car-sharing System represents the verification system consider events in revenue effects. Revenue which the time and distance represented the graph, compare one-way vehicle relocate car-sharing system which proven in existing international papers with one-way vehicle relocate car-sharing system consider the event currently in the Korea. Especially, The maximum profit according to the distance and time were assessed through multiple linear regression analysis, and there are probable maximum loss allow for the maximum loss. The company suggested using the event as a discount coupon to customers through various marketing strategies, and then focused on increasing customer demand. So, Correlation analysis to determine the maximum revenue of the actual travel distance and time were carried out through Non-linear Regression.

Distance Extraction by Means of Photon-Counting Passive Sensing Combined with Integral Imaging

  • Photon-counting sensing is a widely used technique for low-light-level imaging applications. This paper proposes a distance information extraction method with photon-counting passive sensing under low-lightlevel conditions. The photo-counting passive sensing combined with integral imaging generates a photon-limited elemental image array. Maximum-likelihood estimation (MLE) is used to reconstruct the photon-limited image at certain depth levels. The distance information is extracted at the depth level that minimizes the sum of the standard deviation of the corresponding photo-events in the elemental image array. Experimental and simulation results confirm that the proposed method can extract the distance information of the object under low-light-level conditions.

Effect of various work factors on push-pull strength and muscle recruitment pattern (작업 요인이 push-pull strength와 근육 동원 패턴에 미치는 영향)

  • Push-pull strength has been found to be associated with various work factors such as height, distance, repetition, duration, posture and individual factors. Therefore, this study was performed to investigate the effect of various work factors on push-pull strength and muscle recruitment pattern. Work factors were consisted of grip height(elbow, shoulder), grip distance(100%, 50%, and 25% of maximum grip distance) and shoulder angle(neutral($90^{\cire}$), and abduction($45^{\cire}$, $0^{\cire}$)) during sitting work. The results showed that the normalized strength and EMG value were higher at the elbow height than the shoulder height, and increased with grip distance and shoulder adduction. The results of ANOVA showed that there was significant difference on muscle recruitment patterns among the task conditions. Therefore, it is necessary to consider work factors as well as strength to prevent workers from work-related injuries.
