In this study, the experimental and analytical study were performed on the location of longitudinal cracks in the middle of underground box structures. The location where the longitudinal cracking occurred was investigated that the overlapping joint of the rebar and the section of maximum tensile stress generated. Using the finite element analysis, the strength reduction ratio of the rebar was estimated by lack of overlap joint length. As the result of adequacy investigation for the length of the overlap joint presented in the design criteria, it was analytically proved that the lack of the overlap joint length could be cause the decreasing cross-sectional force and concrete cracking. As the result of this study, the adequacy of the overlapping criterion in the current design criteria was confirmed based on the finite element analysis and actual field case. In the case of overlapping joints installed in inappropriate position, it was considered that a long term crack control would be need to ensure the sufficient safety factor for the designed cross-sectional force.

Purpose: This study evaluated the features of a pressure mapping system for patient motion monitoring in radiation therapy. Methods: The pressure mapping system includes an MS 9802 force sensing resistor (FSR) sensor with 2,304 force sensing nodes using 48 columns and 48 rows, controller, and control PC (personal computer). Radiation beam attenuation caused by pressure mapping sensor and signal perturbation by 6 and 10 mega voltage (MV) photon beam was evaluated. The maximum relative pressure value (mRPV), average relative pressure value (aRPV), the center of pressure (COP), and area of pressure distribution were obtained with/without radiation using the upper body of an anthropomorphic phantom for 30 minutes with 15 MV. Results: It was confirmed that the differences in attenuation induced by the FSR sensor for 6 and 10 MV photon beams were small. The differences in mRPV, aRPV, area of pressure distribution with/without radiation are about 0.6%, 1.2%, and 0.5%, respectively. The COP values with/without radiation were also similar. Conclusions: The characteristics of a pressure mapping system during radiation treatment were evaluated on the basis of attenuation and signal perturbation using radiation. The pressure distribution measured using the FSR sensor with little attenuation and signal perturbation by the MV photon beam would be helpful for patient motion monitoring.

Course keeping ability of ships under wave are analyzed with wave. The simulation with three degrees of freedom is developed and 3-D source distribution method is applied to get wave force for the simulation. The simulation is conducted with the restriction of maximum rudder angle and time delay of control and regular wave and irregular wave are considered as the source of external forces. Simulations with ships which have different maneuverability with tuned hydrodynamic coefficients are developed to assess the variation of the course keeping ability depending on the ship's maneuvering characteristics. The course Keeping ability is evaluated by comparison of distance while the ships are simulated with autopilot control.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the stress distribution and the displacement in the temporomandibular joints following the teeth loss patterns. The three dimensional finite element method was used for a mathematical model. The finite element model was composed of 1,632 elements and 2,411 nodes in the mandible with articular disc and mandibular fossa of the temporal bone. The masseter, the temporal and the internal pterygoid muscle forces were applied at each insertion site, bisecting point of gonion and antegonion, tip of the coronoid process, and gonion at the ration of 2:2:1 respectively. The directions of muscles force were obtained from frontal and lateral cephalometric tracings using bony landmarks of the skull. The results were as follows : 1. In control model, the minimum principal stresses were concentrated on the region of anterosuperior part of the condyle head and articular disc, and maximum principal stresses on the anterior part of the condyle head and posterolateral part of the articular disc. 2. In case of unilateral teeth loss, the greater principal stress appeared at the teeth loss side and the principal stresses increased at the teeth loss side as the number of the posterior teeth loss went up. 3. In case of bilateral teeth loss, the principal stresses were greater than those of the control model and as the number of the posterior teeth loss increased, the grater principal stresses on the temporomandibular joints appeared at the both side. 4. When the posterior teeth existed bilateral, the principal stress patterns were similar to those of the control model. 5. The displacement ws directed mainly upward and backward in the upper part of the temporomandibular joints and upward and forward in the largest part of the condyle head. The displacement increased as the number of the posterior teeth loss went up.

In this paper, with a thermoelectric device using the seebeck effect which generates electromotive force by temperature difference generates electric energy an energy harvesting circuit using MPPT(Maximun Power Point Traking) control is designed. After periodically sampling the open voltage of the thermoelectric device, the 1/2 voltage of open voltage which in a maximum power point is maintained through MPPT control circuit and harvested energy from thermoelectric device is delivered to load through a switch. The proposed thermal energy harvesting circuit is designed with $0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS process and the chip area excluding pads is $1168.7{\mu}m{\times}541.3{\mu}m$.
Cable-stayed bridges are attractive due to their beauty, reducing material consumption, less harm to the environment and so on, in comparison with other kinds of bridges. As a massive structure with long period and low damping (0.3 to 2%) under many dynamic loads, these bridges are susceptible to fatigue, serviceability disorder, damage or even collapse. Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) is a suitable controlling system to reduce the vibrations and prevent the threats in such bridges. In this paper, Multi Tuned Mass Damper (MTMD) system is added to the Ahvaz cable stayed Bridge in Iran, to reduce its seismic vibrations. First, the bridge is modeled in SAP2000 followed with result verification. Dead and live loads and the moving loads have been assigned to the bridge. Then the finite element model is developed in OpenSees, with the goal of running a nonlinear time-history analysis. Three far-field and three near-field earthquake records are imposed to the model after scaling to the PGA of 0.25 g, 0.4 g, 0.55 g and 0.7 g. Two MTMD systems, passive and active, with the number of TMDs from 1 to 8, are placed in specific points of the main span of bridge, adding a total mass ratio of 1 to 10% to the bridge. The parameters of the TMDs are optimized using Genetic Algorithm (GA). Also, the optimum force for active control is achieved by Fuzzy Logic Control (FLC). The results showed that the maximum displacement of the center of the bridge main span reduced 33% and 48% respectively by adding passive and active MTMD systems. The RMS of displacement reduced 37% and 47%, the velocity 36% and 42% and also the base shear in pylons, 27% and 47%, respectively by adding passive and active systems, in the best cases.

For application to micro fluid control systems such as ${\mu}TAS$ (Micro Total Analysis Systems) and DDS (Drug Delivery Systems), it is very significant to handle precise and minute flow rates with low pressure pulsation. In this study, a novel valveless piezoelectric pump using peristaltic motion with three disk type PZT actuators is presented. The newly devised pump with an effective size of $70mm{\times}60mm{\times}55mm$ has three actuator layers connected in series from inlet to outlet. The PZT actuator has a maximum displacement of 240 ${\mu}m$ and a maximum force of 1.6 N. When the driving voltage for PZT actuators is sequentially applied with a certain phase shift, the pumping is performed by peristaltic motion of liquid volume. The working fluid is shut off without the driving voltage. Three methods for sequential driving are proposed and experimentally investigated. First and second methods utilize an intermittent sinusoidal waveform with phase shift of $90{\circ}\;and\;120^{\circ}$, respectively. Third method uses a rectangular waveform with phase shift of $90^{\circ}$. A controller with multi-phase shifter is designed and fabricated. Then, frequency and voltage-flow rate characteristics and load pressure-flow rate characteristics are experimentally investigated to verify the validity of the developed pump.
In order to investigate the characteristics of Changma over the Korean peninsula, KEOP-2007 IOP (Intensive Observing Period) was conducted from 15 June 2007 to 15 July 2007. KEOP-2007 IOP is high spatial and temporal radiosonde observations (RAOB) which consisted of three special stations (Munsan, Haenam, and Ieodo) from National Institute of Meteorological Research, five operational stations (Sokcho, Baengnyeongdo, Pohang, Heuksando, and Gosan) from Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), and two operational stations (Osan and Gwangju) from Korean Air Force (KAF) using four different types of radiosonde sensors. The error statistics of the sensor of radiosonde were investigated using quality control check. The minimum and maximum error frequency appears at the sensor of RS92-SGP and RS1524L respectively. The error frequency of DFM-06 tends to increase below 200 hPa but RS80-15L and RS1524L show vice versa. Especially, the error frequency of RS1524L tends to increase rapidly over 200 hPa. Systematic biases of radiosonde show warm biases in case of temperature and dry biases in case of relative humidity compared with ECMWF (European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecast) analysis data and precipitable water vapor from GPS. The maximum and minimum values of systematic bias appear at the sensor of DFM-06 and RS92-SGP in case of temperature and RS80-15L and DFM-06 in case of relative humidity. The systematic warm and dry biases at all sensors tend to increase during daytime than nighttime because air temperature around sensor increases from the solar heating during daytime. Systematic biases of radiosonde are affected by the sensor type and the height of the sun but random errors are more correlated with the moisture conditions at each observation station.
This study was performed to investigate the relationship between Forward Head Posture(FHP) and Craniomandlbular Disorders(CMDs). Many studies reported that there was some relationship between them, however, there is still controversy. So It Is necessary to observe and compare many more patients with CMDs wirh normal controls. For the study 85 patients with CMDs and 37 dental students were selected as experimentals and controls, respectively. And the experimentals were classified Into two groups, that is, TMJ internal derangement group and muscle disorders group according to clinical diagnosis. For measuring the FHP, CROM(Cervical-Range-of-Notion)was used. This goniometer is composed of three part. First, gravity goniometer for flexion and extension. Second, magnetic compass and yoke for rotational movement. And last, forward head arm and vertebra locator for forward head posture. Next T-Scan, electronic occlusal analyzer, was used for recording of occlusal contact state. Other items such as maximum opening, lateral excursion, Helkimo's anamnestic index, and muscle palpation point from Friction's craniomandibular index were checked clinically by one examiner. The result of this study were as follows : 1. In male, control group showed much more measurement in resting forward head posture than did experimental group. But there were not significant differences between groups in female subject. From this results, the author contended that CROM is new measuring system and differ from other goniometers in some aspect, so that results should be re-evaluated 2. Mean value of maximum mouth opening in nearly all groups were greater than 40mm. and mouth opening had a significant correlation with occlusal force and with anamnestic index both sex. 3. Mean value of palpation point had not any correlationship with forward head posture in both sex, but there was significant difference between upper and lower group by rounded shouldes. 4. In summary, there was no significant relationship between forward head posture and sign and symptom of Craniomandibular Disorders.
PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to compare the performance of Accura to that of the T-scan for indicating occlusal contacts. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Twenty-four subjects were selected. Their maxillary dental casts were scanned with a model scanner. The Stereolithography files of the casts were positioned to align with the occlusal plane. Occlusal surfaces of every tooth were divided into three to six anatomic regions. T-scan and Accura recordings were made during two masticatory cycles. The T-scan and Accura images were captured at the maximum bite force and overlapped to the cast. Photographs of interocclusal records were used as the reference during overlap. The occlusal contacts were counted to compare the T-scan and Accura. McNemar's test was used for statistical significance and the corresponding P-values were calculated from a chi-square distribution with one degree of freedom. The accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV) of Accura were calculated relative to the T-scan values as a control. RESULTS. No statistical differences (P>.05) were found between the T-scan and Accura methods. The accuracy of Accura was 75.8%, sensitivity was 82.1%, specificity was 60.1%, PPV was 82.9%, and NPV was 60.1%. CONCLUSION. Accura could be another possible option as a computerized occlusal analysis system for indicating occlusal contacts at maximum intercuspation.
