  • We investigated maturation and spawning of Miichthys miiuy in the south-western water of Korea, based on samples collected by stow net from August 2015 to December 2016. We analysed monthly changes in maturity stage, gonadosomatic index (GSI), total length (TL) at 50% group maturity. The spawning period was August to October. We estimated the TL at 50% group maturity as 54.8 cm for females and 49.0 cm for males.

  • Solid animal wastes in Japan are treated mainly by composting. The composting process under controlled conditions is able to convert the wastes into high-quality organic fertilizer. Various types of composting facilities with/without forced aeration and turning device are available. Characterization of the maturing process during composting was studied, to improve the quality of compost and to make the degree of maturity. Recycling of animal wastes as compost without any environmental pollution will be closely related to the development of sustainable agriculture with organic fertilizer in Japan.

  • This study attempts to draw a blueprint of risk analysis for Information Systems (IS). We introduce two main variables for measuring IS risk - business-impact intensity and IS-vulnerability index - through the investigation of information characteristics, business processes and human-related factors. IS-vulnerability index consists of two factors such as degree of openness and degree of preparedness to the threats. Based on these factors, we built two integrative frameworks for risk analysis and management: One is a conceptual framework to enhance the understandability of IS risk itself; the other is an integrative framework to improve the managerial insight of overall IS risk. We then conducted a field study to empirically validate the proposed framework using a structural equations modeling method. We found that IS maturity and business-impact intensity were positively correlated to degree of openness to the threats, while IS maturity was negatively correlated to degree of preparedness to the threats.

  • The maturity and spawning of pacific sand eels Ammodytes japonicus, was investigated using samples collected by gill net in coastal waters near Donghae, Gangwon-do, from January 2017 to December 2018. Monthly changes were analyzed in maturity stage, gonadosomatic index (GSI), egg diameter, fecundity (F), and total length (TL) at 50% group maturity. The average TLs of female and male A. japonicus were 18.5 and 18.1 cm, respectively. The spawning period was from November to March, with the peak from December to February based on monthly changes in GSI and maturity stages. The egg diameter during the spawning-capable stage was 300-1000 (main mode 500-600) ㎛. Fecundity ranged from 6,411 eggs at 16.7 cm fork length to 45,771 eggs at 24.7 cm fork length. The relationship between TL and F was F=0.00005TL4.2715 (R2=0.7216), such that F increased with TL. TL at 50% group maturity was estimated to be 15.1 cm for both sexes.

  • In the rapidly developing information technology environment, information management organizations need to effectively evaluate their digital maturity and clarify the direction of improvement to effectively respond to rapidly changing environments. This study derived weights for the digital curation maturity model developed by KISTI from the perspective of digital transformation to facilitate effective evaluation and direction setting of information management organizations. Relative importance was derived as a weight in the major and middle categories of the model through the AHP technique. Summarizing the results, when the major categories of the entire model are measured on the basis of 100 points, technology is 27 points, data is 24 points, strategy is 19 points, organization (manpower) is 16 points, and (social) influence is calculated as 14 points. In addition, weights for each subcategory were presented for each major classification based on a perfect score of 100 points. It is expected that a more objective and reasonable evaluation will be possible by applying the weights for each area derived from this study to the digital transformation maturity evaluation model.

  • Food waste has been recognized as a critical problem in Korea and many research was conducted to efficiently reutilize or treat food waste. Main purpose of this research was to evaluate a feasibility for producing fermented organic fertilizer with mixture of earthworm cast (EC). Four different treatments were mixed with food waste and EC at the rate of 0, 10, 20, and 30%, respectively. Total days of composting experiment were 84 days and each sub samples were collected at every 7 days from starting of composting. Results showed that inner temperature in composting was increased to $70{\pm}4^{\circ}C$ within 5~10 days depending on mixing ratio of EC. Among different treatment, the highest increase of inner temperature was observed in treatment mixed with food waste and EC 30%. After finishing composting experiment, maturity was evaluated with solvita and germination test. Maturity index (MI) of each treatment was ranged between 5~7 indicating that manufactured fertilizer was curing or finished stage. Calculated germination index (GI) was at the range of 104~116 depending on mixing ratio of EC. Both MI and GI showed that manufactured fertilizer was suitable for fertilizer criteria while control (FW only) was not adequate for composting. Overall, earthworm cast can be utilized for improving compost maturity by mixing with food waste and more research should be conducted to make high quality of food waste compost with earthworm cast in agricultural fields.

  • The maturity and spawning of the common octopus Octopus vulgaris were studied using 317 samples collected monthly from January to December of 2020 from the coastal waters of Yeosu, Korea. The mantle length (ML) of O. vulgaris ranged from 5.1 to 19.7 cm and body weight (BW) ranged from 117.6 to 3,645.4 g. We analyzed monthly changes in sex ratio, gonadosomatic index (GSI), histological maturity stage, and body weight at 50%, 75% and 97.5% group maturity. The sex ratio was 1:1.02, which was not significantly different from the value that expected. Based on histological observation of the gonad development and gonadosomatic index, the spawning periods lasted throughout the year, with peak spawning periods estimated from March to April and July to August. The percentages of sexually mature females estimated using a logistic equation were over 50% at 554.46 g BW, 75% at 1,134.38 g BW and 97.5% at 2,474.22 g BW respectively.

  • This study revealed the reproductive biology of the Olive Flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus, in the middle of the West Sea of Korea. We collected samples using stow net and drag net fisheries in coastal waters from January to December 2023. Monthly gonodosomatic index and maturity stage results showed that the spawning period was April to June for females and March to June for males. Females grew faster than the males. The fecundity ranged from 90,387 to 994,658 number of eggs, and the relationship between TL and fecundity (F) was 0.01TL2.4896 (R2=0.2862). The gonadosomatic index (GSI) exhibited its highest values in May for females and in March for males, coinciding with the primary spawning period. The total length required for 50% sexual maturity was determined through a logistic regression model and the females was estimated to be 49.4 cm and the males was estimated to be 36.5 cm.

  • Recently, increasing attention has been paid to building the software quality and software productivity due to ongoing software crisis. To overcome such problem, one of the many alternatives is to use the capability maturity model (CMM) suggested by the Software Engineering Institute(SEI), focusing on the improvement of software progress. This research is proposed the theoretical framework for CMM based on the previous studies, and review the status of software process on the software development organization. We then examine the impact of the software process capability on the organizational performance including financial measures and non-financial measures. Hypotheses on software process capability were tested 144 organizational units. The 62.5% of foreign companies are distribute to the second and third level, the Korean firms in this study are indicated the first level. Result indicate that maturity of software process may be served the key predictor of organizational performance, in particular the positive relationship between the software process and non-financial performance index such as customer service, IT Infrastructure, marketing, supplier and purchaser, production and operation.

  • The recent developments in the field of reliability and safety is the realisation that these aspects are not only a function of the product but also of the organisation realising this product. Comparing with old DIN 0801 and new method IEC61508, quantitative analysis is required at not only product's quality but also organization's level. Product's life cycle also should be evaluated by analyzing relevant or maturity of business processes. This paper shows the necessity for an analysis on all aspects in a safety certification process, and presents an overview of the available tools and techniques for the various quadrants. Especially, tools and techniques for IEC61508 quadrant C are unavailable currently. Therefore, this paper propose the method which improves the maturity of an organization on reliability management.
