  • This paper presents the calibration for the parallel typed tilting table. The calibration system needs only simple sensing device which is a digital indicator to measure the orientation of a table. The calibration algorithm is developed by a measurement operator. It eliminates the concern about the poor parameter observability due to a large number of parameters of parallel-mechanism. This paper uses the QR-decomposition to find the optimal calibration configurations maximizing the linear independence of rows of a observation matrix. The number of identifiable parameters is examined by the rank of the observation matrix, which represents the parameter observability. The method is applied to a Parallel-typed Tilting Table and all the necessary kinematic parameters are identifiable.

  • Bit operation of scrambler in the WAVE System become less efficient because parallel processing is impossible in terms of hardware and software. In this paper, we propose algorism to find the starting position of the matrix table. Also, when bit operation algorithm of scrambler and algorithms for matrix table, algorithm used to find starting position of the matrix table were compared with the performance as 8 bit, 16bit, 32 bit processing units. As a result, the number of processing times per second could be done 2917.8 times more in an 8-bit, 5432.1 times in a 16-bit, 10277.8 times in a 32 bit. Therefore, algorithm to find the starting position of the matrix table improves the speed of the scrambler in the WAVE and the receiving speed of a variety of information gathering and precision over the Vehicle to Infra or Vehicle to Vehicle in the Intelligent Transport Systems.

  • This paper studies the observability of calibration system with a measurement operator. The calibration system needs a simple digital indicator to measure the mobile table movements with respect to the MC coordinate. However, it yields the concern about the poor parameter observability due to measuring only a part of the movements. We uses the QR-decomposition to find the optimal calibration configurations maximizing the linear independence of rows of an observation matrix. The number of identifiable parameter is examined by the rank of the observation matrix, which represents the parameter observability. The method is applied to a 6-axis MC with parallel tilting table and the calibration results are presented. These results verify that all necessary kinematic parameters are observable and the calibration system has robustness to the noise using optimal calibration configurations.

  • Isolation tables are widely used for precision equipments and their isolation performances have been usually expressed and evaluated by transsmissibility. However, transmissibility is a concept for 1-degree of freedom(DOF) system. In practice, isolation tables are supproted by more than 4 springs. Each spring is subjected to vertical and horizontal ground vibrations, and also the table has more than 1-DOF. Therefore, isolation tables should be treated as multi-input/multi-output(MIMO) system of which isolation performance is expressed by transmissibility matrix. However, the matrix is too complicated to be an index for a system. In this paper, maximum singular value of transmissibility matrx is suggested as a simple performance index of a MIMO isolation system. Physical meaning of singular value is explained using a simple a 2-DOF isolation table. Furthermore, maximum singular values of passive, 3-DOF active and 6-DOF active isolation tables are obtained through experiments, and their meaning are explained and compared with each other.

  • Let G be a finite group with k distinct conjugacy classes $C_1, C_2, \cdots, C_k$ and F an algebraically closed field such that char$(F){\dag}\left$\mid$ G \right$\mid$$. We denoted by $Irr_F$(G) the set of all irreducible F-characters of G and $Cf_F$(G) the set of all class functions of G into F. Then $Cf_F$(G) is a commutative F-algebra with an F-basis $Irr_F(G) = {\chi_1, \chi_2, \cdots, \chi_k}$.

  • In this paper, the stiffness and damping matrix are experimentally constructed using the structural modal information on frequencies, damping ratio and modal vectors, which are obtained by shaking table tests. Free vibration, harmonic and white noise vibration tests are performed. The acceleration of the shaking table was used as the input signal, and the corresponding accelerations of each floor were measured as output signals. The characteristics and limitations of modal information from each test are compared. The results of this study would be a basic resource of the analytical and experimental studies on the system identification of structures.

  • Active-matrix electrophoretic display (AMEPD) is commonly used for the applications of smart handheld reading devices such as e-books and e-news. This paper presents a new reduced waveform lookup table storage method that reduces the associated lookup table by approximately 2n (n is the number of gray levels employed) times the conventional one. The paper also proposes a driving method for image display. The method provides high-speed performance for image display and also effectively eliminates the image residue, achieving high image quality. The prototyped controller was connected to a 6" AMEPD panel, whose excellent display quality demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed controller design.

  • Let K be a algebraically closed field of characteristic 0 and G be abelian group $Z_2{\times}Z_2{\times}Z_2$ or $Z_2{\times}Z_4$. We find the conditions which the elements of the group ring KG are unit and idempotent respecting using the basic table matrix of G. We can see that if ${\alpha}={\sum}r(g)g$ is an idempotent element of KG, then $r(1)=0,\;\frac{1}{{\mid}G{\mid}},\;\frac{2}{{\mid}G{\mid}},\;{\cdots},\frac{{\mid}G{\mid}-1}{{\mid}G{\mid}},\;1$.
