  • This paper describes a 10-bit 75-MHz CMOS current-mode DAC designed for 0.8${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ double-poly double-metal CMOS technology. This D/A converter is implemented using a current cell matrix that can drive a resistive load without output buffer. In the DAC. a current source is proposed to reduce the linearity error caused by the threshold-voltage variations over a wafer and the glitch energy caused by the time lagging, The integral and differential linearity error are founded to be within $\pm$0.35 LSB and $\pm$0.31 LSB respectively. The maximum conversion rate is about 80 MS/s. The total power dissipation is 160 ㎽ at 75 MS/s conversion rate.

Takagi-Sugeno Fuzzy Model-Based Approach to Robust Control of Boost DC-DC Converters

  • This paper considers the robust controller design problem for a boost DC-DC converter. Based on the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model-based approach, a fuzzy controller as well as a fuzzy load conductance observer are designed. Sufficient conditions for the existence of the controller and the observer are derived using Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs). LMI parameterizations of the gain matrices are obtained. Additionally, LMI conditions for the existence of the fuzzy controller and the fuzzy load observer guaranteeing α-stability, quadratic performance are derived. The exponential stability of the augmented fuzzy observer-controller system is shown. It is also shown that the fuzzy load observer and the fuzzy controller can be designed independently. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified via experimental and simulation results under various conditions.

  • The time-averaged behavior of the three-phase Inductor-Converter Bridge (ICB) circuit has been analyzed by using the state-space averaging method. Especially, a second order approximation in the matrix expansion makes the analysis possible. The results are in a closed form which is quite different from the conventional solution obtained by using the Fourier Series. Therefore, the computational difficulties in evaluating the infinite Fourier series can be avoided and the results derived in this paper are available expecially in real time control. By comparing with the Fourier result, it has been verified that the analysis by means of the state-space averaging method is more accurate and simple. The digital simulation and the equivalent experiments have also been carried out to confirm the theoretical results.

  • In this work, a highly linear video-speed CMOS current-mode digital-to-analog converter (DAC) is proposed. A newswitching scheme for the current cell matrix of the DAC simultaneously reduces graded and symmetrical errors to improve integral nonlinearities (INL). The proposed DAC is designed to operate at any supply voltage between 3V and 5V, and minimizes the glitch energy of analog outputs with degliching circuits developed in this work. The prototype dAC was implemented in a LG 0.8um n-well single-poly double-metal CMOS technology. Experimental results show that the differential and integral nonlinearities are less than .+-. LSB and .+-.0.8LSB respectively. The DAC dissipates 75mW at a 3V single power supply and occupies a chip area of 2.4 mm * 2.9mm.

  • A soft switched matrix converter is proposed by adopting the zero voltage switching technique being used in some resonant pole inverters. High operating frequency with safe and efficient switching improves dynamic and spectral performances and simplifies protection logics and snubber networks. Further, it can be implemented using simple analog circuits, having similar transfer characteristics to those of the modern pulse width modulated matrix converters such as, maximum voltage transfer ratio and unity input displacement factor. Analyses, design and simulation results are presented to verify the operating principle.

  • Input filter is an essential component in a practical matrix converter (MC) system to generate the sinusoidal input currents. However, the input filter causes a displacement angle between the input current of MC and the source current. In this paper, we investigate the input filter design for MCs by considering the displacement angles of the input current and the input voltage to guarantee high input power factor (IPF) operation as well as low input current harmonic contents. Simulation results are provided to validate the input filter design with near unity input power factor and low total harmonic distortion (THD) of the input current.

  • A novel general direct duty ratio pulse width modulation strategy is proposed to modulate matrix converters. By using average concept over one switching period, the modulation algorithm and the required equations are derived to synthesize the desired output voltage and to achieve the controlled input power factor. The proposed method use continuous carrier and the predetermined duty ratio signal for directly generating gating signals an thus is named "direct duty ratio PWM(DDPWM)". The feasibility and validity of the proposed strategy are verified by experimental results.

  • This paper proposes stability evaluation of DC/DC boost converters based on output impedance in harmonic transfer function matrix considering line impedance and cascaded voltage and current control loops. The harmonic state-space (HSS) model of converter and controller is developed to obtain the harmonic transfer function matrix of closed-loop output impedance. This work is useful for impedance-based stability analysis of converters connected to DC power systems.

  • Using the scattering theory of laser light, we analyze the particle sizing method. The scattered profile measured by the photodetector is sampled, scale conditioned by a 32 channel analog-to-digital converter, and is analyzed with the transform matrix from the light energy signals to the weights of the particle sizes. The particle size distribution is classified using the Hopfield neural network method as well as the conventional nonnegative least square method.

  • 본 논문에서는 직접형 매트릭스 컨버터에 적용할 수 있는 캐리어 베이스 변조 방법을 제안한다. 또한 불연속 PWM 변조 방법을 적용하여, 스위칭 주기 내에서 스위칭 횟수를 줄일 수 있는 방법을 제시하였다. 해당 방법을 두 개의 모드에서 각각 다른 옵셋 전압을 적용하여 그 특성을 알아보았다.
