Construction materials usually constitute a major portion of the total cost in a building construction project. Materials management Is made problematic by materials shortages, delays in supply, price fluctuations, damage and wastage, and lack of storage space. Despite the potential benefit of ICT, convincing construction organisations to embrace its use and implementation has proved a difficult task. This study seeks to identify the implementation of ICT for materials management processes in construction projects. The findings from the case studies reveal that the implementation of ICT in the materials management processes for construction projects in Malaysia Is at early stage. Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet and handheld devices are found to be the common ICT tools adopted in the materials management processes. The main barrier is found to be the cost involvement at the initial stage or overall implementation of ICT in the materials management processes. Finally, this paper concludes the finding from interviews towards the ICT implementation of materials management in the construction projects.

In the construction industry, materials management is one of the most important components in construction engineering life cycle. Materials management optimization is one of the research subjects in the field of construction management. In the materials management system of a construction project, the suitability of selecting procurement planning strategy will influence the result of project completion. This study conducts literature review at first and also refers the related issue in other industry's application. Associated with the characteristics of construction project in civil engineering and the concept of object oriented design applied in the materials management, this research is aimed to establish a construction materials requirement preliminary system.

This study examined the cost consciousness, food materials satisfaction, job satisfaction, and degree of food materials management of chefs, as a means to increase food materials management efficiency in hotel restaurants and to make suggestions, for efficiently reducing food material costs, Chefs from eleven 5-star hotels and one exceptional-grade restaurant in Seoul were asked to fill out a questionnaire for sampling. A total of 350 questionnaires were distributed and 334 were returned (95.4% return rate). The characteristics of the respondents were examined by population statistics analysis, and the chefs' cost consciousness, food materials satisfaction, and job satisfaction were examined by descriptive statistics after reliability and propriety analyses. The degree of cost consciousness in the respondents was very high and this degree of consciousness proved to have a partially significant impact on the degree of food materials management. That is when the chefs were more conscious about cost, the degree of food materials management was high. This implies that food materials satisfaction can be enhanced by enhancing the degree of food materials management. Job satisfaction also had a partially significant, influence on the degree of food materials management. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain consistency in the quality and inspection of food materials, provide related information, enhance the satisfaction level for standards of food materials and improve policies for welfare and career after retirement in order to enhance the job satisfaction of chefs and subsequently reduce costs in relation to the level of food materials management.

This study is to survey the materials purchasing and inventory management status and the characteristics and opinions of the staff in charge of purchasing and inventory of the general hospitals in Busan area in order to contribute to the rationalization of its management through the grasp of actual situation and the presentation of desirable improvement plan for the materials purchasing and inventory management. The status of medical institute had been surveyed by the purchasing/ administration managers of total 26 general hospitals, and the purchasing/ management questionnaires had been commenced with 86 staff of the 26 hospitals. Its major survey results, after the analysis of 24 medical institute statuses (return rate of 92.30%) and 60 staff questionnaires (return rate of 69.76%), are as follows. First, post-purchasing evaluation system is not used actively, orders are being placed by phone or fax, and general merchandise is being purchased through free contracts in most of the hospitals participated in the survey. Second, as per the materials supplying methods, the requisition and delivery system is currently the most popular in the hospitals surveyed, however, both the requisition and delivery system and the par level transfer system are the most desired in the hospitals of more than 500 beds, and the par level transfer system is the most desired in the hospitals under 500 beds for the materials supplying system in the future. Third, as per the inventory management system that is desired the most in the future, the SPD and JIT types are preferred in the hospitals of more than 500 beds, the stockless strategy is preferred in the hospitals under 500 beds, the senior staff above section chief grade prefer the stockless strategy, and the junior staff prefer the ABC classification and SPD types. Fourth, The necessity of purchasing staff's training for the materials management is highly recognized but the effectiveness is not so much acknowledged, which is because such a training is thought to be so superficial and formal that it is not helpful much in the actual field. When summarizing the survey results as above, the materials purchasing and management system is differed for each group of hospitals according to the size of beds, and the more scientific management system is largely required by the general hospitals in Busan city. They also hope the introduction of joint purchasing system, materials management by the bar-code system, and positive execution of the market survey and training of the relevant staff for the management of purchasing affairs. So the more systematic purchasing and inventory management is regarded to be necessary through the introduction of scientific and specialized education of materials management, market survey, and post-purchasing evaluation system also through the computerization of materials purchasing and inventory management as soon as possible.

본 연구는 생산 공정의 입출고관리시스템에 관한 연구이다. 기존의 자재 관리 시스템은 바코드를 이용하는 경우가 많지만 대부분의 업체는 많은 불편함을 호소하고 있다. RFID 기술을 입출고관리시스템에 적용하면 자재의 정보를 효율적으로 관리할 수 있고 수작업의 감소로 인해 시간과 비용을 절약할 수 있다. 본 연구는 생산 공정의 입출고관리시스템을 위해 입고 프로세서, 출고 프로세서, 제고 프로세서, 자재소요량프로세서를 설계하였다. 이러한 프로세서를 검증할 수 있도록 사용자 입장에서 평가하여 검증한다.

This research analyzes on the factors and difference of the management performance in general hospital. In details, we provide that personnel expenses, materials costs and administrative expenses have impact on management performance in general hospital and these factors have differences by region and sickbed size. The meaningful results of this study as follow. In the first, personnel expenses ratio influence management performance but materials costs ratio and administrative expenses ratio are only partially impact for the management performance. Secondly, in the management performance by region, there are no significant differences between the two groups of the big city and small and medium-sized cities. In personnel expenses ratio, materials costs ratio and administrative expenses ratio, The materials costs ratio is significant difference but ersonne expenses ratio and administrative expenses ratio have no significant difference. Finally, there's no significant difference between the hospital size and management performance. But this study provide that there is partially a difference between personnel expenses ratio, materials costs ratio and administrative expenses ratio and the hospital size.

Objectives: This study was performed in order to devise a procedure for supplementing the Special Management Materials in the Occupational Safety and Health Act and recommend candidate materials. The results are expected to be used as fundamental data for classification and criteria necessary to manage Special Management Materials in workplaces. Also, they are expected to be used as a basis for selecting target materials to nominate as additional Special Management Material. Methods: We investigated the selection standards for candidates and review ranges of data sources to nominate Special Management Materials. The substances classified as GHS(Globally Harmonized System of classification and labeling of chemicals) category 1A(known to have carcinogenic potential and reproductive toxicity for humans) or 1B(presumed to have carcinogenic potential and reproductive toxicity for humans) carcinogens and reproductive toxicants among the Controlled Hazardous Substances of the Regulation on Occupational Safety and Health Standards and substances with OELs(Occupational Exposure Limits) were inspected as the candidates for Special Management Materials. Conclusions: A seven-step procedure for selecting candidates to designate as Special Management Materials was suggested, including the setting of target chemicals for evaluation, classification of CMR(Carcinogens, Mutagens or Reproductive toxicants) by GHS classification and criteria, suggestion and selection of the candidates, and more. This study recommends 58 chemicals as qualified candidates to supplement the Special Management Materials.

The trend in construction industry, now, lies in improving efficiency and competitive power in construction management and on-the-spot instruction by combining with new IT technology. Above all, it is safe to say that the application of RFID technology can play a pivotal role at this point, but it is not that easy to apply RFID due to the physical, chemical and environmental peculiarities of construction materials. Thus, a study on the standardization of the usable frequency, specifications, protocol, and package administration is required. This study, as part of the study on the standardization, figured out the restrictions by attaching the existing RFID Tag to the construction materials, turned out the prototype of RFID Tag to perform a field test. In result the effective recognition range varies according to the physical and environmental peculiarities of construction materials; and the management efficiency varies as the attaching method and/or applying method. To analyze the management method (media, process etc.) systematically for the existing construction materials; to prepare more various restrictions and its solutions for practical construction spots will be the key for successful RFID implementation.

This study introduces acceptance sampling plans and procedures for the inspection of bulk materials. This paper also presents statistical aspects of sampling bulk materials such as general principles and sampling of particulate materials.
