This study describes the recognition and the application of materials corresponding to the formative language of landscape design as the formative process of creating connote forms and meanings in a space. The purpose of this study is to propose the significance of materiality not only for conveying the meaning of landscape but also for providing expanded experience through synesthetic perception. The study consists of two parts: (1) The concept of materiality in landscape architecture is studied in three categories, which are divided in chronological order when the recognition of materials was changed. (2) Based on this exploration of the concept of materiality and the ways of expressing it that have developed from landscape arts to landscape architecture, the significance of materiality as the medium of contemporary landscape design is proposed. Breaking from previous technical and engineering approaches to materials and from a vision-centered recognition of materials, this study focuses on aesthetic and semantic aspects of materiality and is based on multidimensional recognition though synesthesia. Materiality has significance not only as the dynamic medium that carries the meaning of landscape by providing connections with the surrounding environmental context, but also as the engagement medium that expands observers' experiences with the environment through synesthesia. The study of materiality as the medium of landscape design would contribute to expanding the scope of the language of landscape design and to expressing the meaning of landscape through materiality being revealed on the basis of converted recognition of materials.

In contemporary architecture, glass is being used less as a single piece for the exterior envelope, due to a variety of influences such as increased performance regulations, the market environment and technical developments. An architectural exterior wall today is usually installed as a 'ystem' wall, not as a single plane glass wall. That brings up the necessity to question the appropriateness of the materiality of an individual piece of glass for the exterior envelope in urban settings. Therefore, in many cases it is appropriate to examine materiality of glass as a system. A new examination of materiality can be carried out by analyzing the interactions between layers that constitute a system. This paper examines the experimental use of glass systems in contemporary architecture, and analyzes them to interpret the relationship between the layers of each system in order to establish the diversified materiality of glass in contemporary architecture.

Fashion has been compared to art since Japanese avant-garde fashion designers expanded the thoughts about conceptual fashion in late 1970s. The fashion designers focused on the materiality of fashion textiles by placing more importance on it than the shapes. This bears a striking resemblance to contemporary art of 1960s and 1970s as many artists used soft materials like felt, fabric, rubber to emphasize themselves. This study establishes the materiality of fabric, which can be found in both contemporary art and fashion. The classification of materiality consists of flexibility, humanizing and temporality. In this work, there is a significant disparity between contemporary art and fashion.

The notion of materiality in architecture has existed throughout its history, and it has begun to discussed in earnest as an important architectural discourse since early twentieth century, when the Industrial Revolution and its consequent mass-production system has fundamentally changed the means and methods of architectural production. However, this traditional notion of materiality is not fully engaged with today's digital paradigm, and not able to inquire into the complex aspects of contemporary architectural process, because their theoretical and perceptional bases are still remaining in modern era. In this shifting context, this study is intended to develop a new concept of digital materiality which corresponding to contemporary digital and material culture. This paper speculates and argues digital materiality as an active ingredients of contemporary design process as well as a comprehensive logical system that negotiate with various geometric conditions. The purpose of this study is to analyze and investigates the distinctive characteristics of Office dA's architectural design process in the digital realm.

In this paper, we have investigated how various companies have tackled the concept of materiality, and reviewed the effect of materiality determination on business strategy and decision making in sustainability reporting. To achieve this, we gather and utilize various guidelines and company's practice cases. Results from the analyses of four case studies provide that most companies conducted a detailed systematic materiality analysis as strategic planning process but held differing approaches. Therefore, successful methodology to determine materiality will need to address common issues and challenges, and set up a new concept in the context of sustainability reporting.

Architecture of the present time has a general tendency that focuses only in its permanence between the structure and the ground. Architecture has the temporariness. In other words, it is a losing creation. Structure of natural building materials starts its life on the ground and also ends its life on there. Natural building materials leave no building wastes on their ground. Concerns about how to let materials contain not only its physical property but also their regional relation and timely temporariness can let us express materiality of natural building materials in modern construction spaces. And also, it will be the way of recovering the value of architecture and the healing human's sensibility. Kuma Kengo made an attempt that makes the best use of materiality in his work by using them in balance and draw new materiality by a fusion of them. In here, suggestion about the ways of using weak natural materials in modern construction spaces is the main object of this paper. And we can make a progress by analyzing Kuma's expression way of materiality in his work.

Purpose: The main purpose of this study is to develop assessment measures for the quality of service for dental labs. Methods: In order to construct the measure of service quality assessment for dental labs, relevant modifications were extracted around theoretical studies, and the survey was conducted on dental technician workers through internet survey. final scale questions were extracted through exploratory factor analysis and confirmed factor analysis of measurement variables, the demographic characteristics of the subjects and the perceptual difference of dental labs were analyzed for the extracted variables. Results: The final five variants of the interactive factor analysis that include the ability to change employee growth, reliability, responsiveness, materiality, interoperability, confirmatory factor analysis excludes variations in employee growth wages, welfare benefits, by changing its name to network capabilities, the quality of service factors for the final dental labs consisted of five variations: network competence, reliability, responsiveness, materiality and interoperability. Conclusion : The service quality of the dental labs showed that the reliability of the product related to the dental materials and the product production responsiveness related to the production order, the Materiality of the materials and equipment of the dental labs, the Interoperability responsiveness related to dental orders, And the importance of network capability to form a mutual network.

This study analyzed the characteristics of spatial expression in the Barcelona Pavilion to be based on tectonics. Mies pointed out the image of materiality about the material rather than the process of tectonics using the material, and he also expressed demateriality in the image of each material through the reflection. To be liberated from structural matters, the wall has been introduced. He intended to show the design plan as the independent structural system, however, the wall actually seems to be supporting the roof that shows rather clearly self-contradictory because of the expression of materiality in the material. In terms of architectural elements; wall, roof, column, floor, and so forth, tectonic expression and abstract aesthetics stands face to face, because of hiding the productional process and transforming to line and surface in the image of materiality. The interior of the glass wall seems fairly closed space from the exterior, because materiality and reflection of materials of columns and podium. The character of experiential space is inconsistent and fragmentary because of the splendid images from maternality and reflection on the wall, and collision with the reality and the image the wall reflects, even though the geometrical space of the Pavilion's plan has the mutual penetrability and organic character.
