The Method Research for Analyzing Contemporary Fashion Phenomena - Focused on Mass Culture Theory -

  • Re purpose of this study is to indicate the framework to analyze the contemporary fashion phenomena taking on aspect as above by grafting the mass culture theory onto the study for fashion phenomena. The contemporary culture phenomena look like a same thing apparently, but various individual characters appeared in them. And all cultures are mixed in the name of mass culture, but the subordinate concepts which can classify the culture are still in existence. And this equally appear in the contemporary fashion, one of culture phenomena. The concept of the contemporary mass culture can be explained with the taste culture, Cans' theory indicated, divided into highbrow culture, middlebrow culture, and lowbrow culture. And the phenomena of the contemporary mass culture also can be explained with globalization that came down to homogenization, regionalization hybridization.

곤충병원성 진균의 대량 배양체계에서의 성장율 (Growth Rate of Entomopathogenic Fungi in Mass Culture System)

  • 1차 액체배양액과 2차 pellet 배지로 이루어지는 대량배양체계의 다른 곤충병원성 곰팡이인 Beauveria bassiana, Beauveria brongniartii, Metarhizum anisopliae, Verticillium lecanii 등에 대한 효용성을 조사하기 위하여 단균사 및 분생포자의 성장율을 비교하였다. 그 결과, 액체배양액에서 단균사의 성장율은 접종 후 72시간에 그 수가 최초 접종수에 비해 103-104배까지 증가함을 확인할 수 있었으며, pellet 배지에서 분생자의 수는 접종 후 3주 째에 103배까지 증가됨을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 실험의 결과 진균의 대량배양을 위해 선발된 1차 액체배양액과 2차 pellet 배지는 여러 곤충병원성 진균의 성장에 효율적인 체계임을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • Despite continuous efforts to redraw the boundaries between art and culture, the conventional concept of originality has persisted in approaches to the practice of contemporary art. In the discourse of originality, various forms of lesser arts that employ the method of replication have been referred to as kitsch, or "rear-guard," the opposite of avant-garde. This categorization points to the contested issue regarding the oppositional relation between modernism and mass culture. With its easily accessible content and financial affordability, mass culture has become both an irresistible attraction and a most powerful threat to modernism. This threat has instigated a discursive system that has situated mass culture as a cultural other of modernism. Taking the marginalized category of kitsch as the area of contention, this paper examines a discursive repression of kitsch. It analyzes the conceptual framework that defends originality and autonomy in art and, conversely, degrades kitsch as an inferior and dangerous cultural category. Greenberg'S concept of kitsch as a by-product of industrialization evolved into the criticism that advocates the autonomy of art. The Frankfurt School scholars, particularly Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer, practiced comparable cultural critiques. Focusing on mass culture such as film, radio, and television, instead of art works, they critically analyzed the system of mass culture and theorized the negative implications of the ubiquitous presence of kitsch. Some critics, on the other hand, perceived the growth of mass culture as opening possibilities in cultural development. Walter Benjamin and Harold Rosenberg asserted the socio-cultural dynamics of mass culture underlining the potential for continual transformation in reality and in the subject. They acknowledged that technological advances changed the condition of creation and enabled unmediated interactions between media. By scrutinizing conflicting views on kitsch, this paper intends to reassess arts that draw "the forces of the outside."

해산 로티퍼 대량 배양 수조에서 관찰되는 코페포다의 혼재 양상 (Observation of Co-Existing Copepods in the Marine Rotifer Mass Culture Tanks)

  • Microorganisms are contained filtered sea water that is why we often observed co-existing copepod species in the large-scale rotifer culture tanks. In this study, we investigated about taxonomical study of co-existing copepods in Brachionus rotifer mass culture tanks of several seafarming centers at Jeju-do and Pusan, Korea by microscope. Also, we counted number of copeods and density in 10 mL of cultured sea water and distinguished growing patterns and sex. As results, we can identified 4 species copepods, 2 species of Tisbe, 1 species of Tigriopus and 1 species of Apocyclops.

  • 애니메이션 캐릭터는 아이디어 지향의 고 부가가치 산업으로 다양한 시너지 효과를 창출하기 때문에 경제적인 측면만으로도 그 가치가 높다. 무엇보다도 애니메이션 캐릭터의 가치는 대중문화 커뮤니케이터로서의 역할에 있다. 애니메이션 캐릭터의 범람속에서 생활하는 대중들은 캐릭터에 의해 표현되는 다양한 성격과 행동에 영향받고 있다. 그러나 범람이라고 할만큼 대중의 생활을 둘러싸고 있는 애니메이션 캐릭터들의 성격과 행동들은 주로 극단적인 성향을 나타내고 있어, 대중사회의 유지와 존속에 필요한 역할모델의 제시에 부정적인 기능을 하고 있다.

Use of Dactylaria brochopaga, a Predacious Fungus, for Managing Root-Knot Disease of Wheat (Triticum aestivum) Caused by Meloidogyne graminicola

  • A laboratory experiment was conducted to study the induction of constricting rings and test predation of Dactylaria brochopaga isolates against second stage juveniles (J2s) of Meloidogyne graminicola. Among the five fungal isolates, isolate D showed the greatest number of predatory rings and, consequently, trapped the maximum number of M. graminicola J2s in dual cultures. Another pot experiment was conducted to study the effect of D. brochopaga (isolate D) on the management of wheat root-knot disease. Applying a mass culture (10 g/pot) and a spore suspension of the fungus with and without cow dung manure to soil infested with 2,000 M. graminicola juveniles significantly improved plant height, root length, weights of shoots, roots, panicles and grains per hill compared to those in the control. Moreover, the fungus significantly reduced the number of root-knots, the number of egg masses, juveniles, and females per hill compared to those in the control. Bio-efficacy of the fungus was heightened when the mass culture and a spore suspensions were used in combination with cow dung manure to improve the plant growth parameters and reduce the number of root-knot and reproductive factors. Further investigations should be conducted to identify the impact of this fungus in the field.

  • 해산어류 및 갑각류의 유생사육시 먹이로 사용되는 rotifer(Brachionus Plicatilis)의 먹이생물로 이용되는 Chlorella중 어떤종이 대량사육에 가장 적합한가를 파악하기 위하여 해수산 Chlorella 2종, 담수산 Chlorella 4종에 대한 성장 및 영양염분석의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 해수산 Chlorella중에서는 C. ellipsoidea가 f/2배지에서 가장 높은 성장을 나타냈고 담수산 Chlorella 중에서는 C. vulgaris가 Complesal에서 가장 높은 성장을 보였다. 2. 성장의 측면에서 볼 때 담수산인 C. vulgaris는 해수산인 C. ellipsoidea보다 specific growth rate가 1.68배나 높게 나타났다. 3. 영양염의 측면에서 볼 때 지방은 해수산인 C. ellipsoidea가 조단백과 회분은 담수산인 C. vulgaris가 더 높았다. 아미노산측정에서 $NH_3$의 함량이 담수산인 C. vulgaris가 해수산인 C. ellipsoidea보다 8배 이상 높은 점이 특이하였다.

  • The objective of the present study was trying to explain the phenomenon of the character fashion using famous character of America and Japan as a cultural dependency of mass culture in Korea. Today, the cultural situation of the Korean society was influenced much from foreign countries, especially America and Japan in every culture. It means the penetration of foreign cultures, the cultural domination of them and it could be explained by the cultural imperialism approach and the cultural imperialism approach presented the theoretical framework of cultural dependency of mass culture. In this viewpoint, I emphasized the influence of the motives used character fashion as an important phenomenon to analyize the cultural situation of Korea.

  • This paper attempts to provide a more complete acknowledging of Hallyu(Korean Wave), using systems thinking. The central concept is understanding how all the objects of Hallyu(Korean Wave) in a culture system interact with one another. What it attempts to do is understand the feedback loop of Hallyu(Korean Wave) with other country culture, and thus understand the behavior of mass culture agent it make produce. This works is for public management and policy in culture industry and leading culture itself. And alternative policies that alleviate the problem, and implements this solution at Hallyu(Korean Wave) continuance.
