Purpose: Regular cancer screening for workers can help prevent cancer or allow early treatment, and is thus beneficial in improving health, reducing costs, and increasing companies' productivity. However, there has been little research on cancer screening rates of workers and related factors. The purpose of this study was to identify cancer screening rates and relevant factors among manufacturing workers. Methods: Using a questionnaire, data were collected from 335 workers aged over 40 years recruited from seven manufacturing companies. The collected information included cancer screenings (stomach, colorectal, breast, and cervical), attitude towards cancer screening, and demographic and job characteristics. Results: 72.5% of workers received stomach cancer screening (SCS), and 43% received colorectal cancer screening (CRCS). Among 86 women, 68.6% received breast cancer screening and cervical cancer screening. The attitude towards cancer screening was $29.5{\pm}3.78$. Workers aged over 51, married, and those working in mobile manufacturing were more likely to have undergone SCS. Workers aged over 51, married, those working in mobile manufacturing, those in workplaces with more than 1,001 employees, and those with more positive attitudes toward cancer screening were more likely to have undergone CRCS. Finally, attitude affected cervical cancer screening. Conclusion: Workers in small-sized workplaces had lower cancer screening rates. Thus, follow-up research should assess the health environment of workplaces and develop educational programs on cancer screening that reflect attitudes towards screening.

The purposes of this study were to compare work-family conflict, job satisfaction, job stress, psychological health, and job involvement of Korean female office workers by marital status and to identify the factors that influence job involvement. Data were collected through self reported structured questionnaire form 171 Korean female office workers by convenient sampling methods form May 20 to August 15, 2011. After adjusting for age, education level, family monthly income, working periods and turnover number, work-family conflict(${\beta}$=0.54, p<.001) and job satisfaction(${\beta}$=0.35, p=.002) were identified as significant predictors of job involvement in the married working women. In the unmarried working women, work-family conflict(${\beta}$=0.22, p=.042) and job stress(${\beta}$=-0.57, p=.001) were identified as significant predictors of job involvement. Therefore, as a strategy for improving job involvement of female office workers, psycho-social nursing intervention will be provided considering the differences by marital status.
Objectives: In women, breast cancer is the most common cancer and the leading cause of cancer death. Screening tests are the basis for early diagnosis. In Iranian women, the mortality rate of breast cancer is high due to insufficient screening examinations and delayed visits for care. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the factors affecting breast self-examinations among Iranian women employed in medical careers. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 501 women working in the medical professions at Hamadan University of Medical Sciences in western Iran in 2018. The subjects were selected by stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a researcher-developed, self-report questionnaire that contained demographic information and questions based on protection motivation theory and social support theory. Descriptive data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 23 and model fitting with PLS version 2. Results: The mean age of the participants was $37.1{\pm}8.3years$, and most of the women (80.4%) were married. Most women had a bachelor's degree (67.5%). The findings of this study showed that the coping appraisal construct was a predictor of protection motivation (${\beta}=0.380$, p<0.05), and protection motivation (${\beta}=0.604$, p<0.05) was a predictor of breast self-examination behavior. Additionally, social support theory (${\beta}=0.202$, p<0.05) had a significant positive effect on breast self-examination behavior. Conclusions: The frequency of practicing self-examinations among women employees in the medical sector was low; considering the influence of social support as a factor promoting screening, it is necessary to pay attention to influential people in women's lives when designing educational interventions.
In 1987, the Equal Employment Opportunity Law was enacted, which indicated the institutional regulation against gender-discriminatory labor practices. Until the late 1980s, women were forced to quit upon marriage. It had influenced negatively on women status in the labor market. In this paper, 1 try to examine how the institutional change affects young educated women's work behaviors. The change of the education and family effect on work will be examined. For analysis, data from 2002 Women's Work Survey is employed. The results show the followings. Among women of young generation, negative effect of education has disappeared and turned out to be positive among the never married. But, marriage and the family responsibility still influence negatively on young women's participation into the labor market. In making a decision to work, husband's attitude is more important than wife's own. But, among the single, women's own attitude toward work plays an important role. In overall, women of young generation is also influenced by the family responsibility as much as the previous generation. The negative effect of marriage and the family responsibility on women's working is stronger among the college educated women.
The purposes of this study were to identify customer expectation, perception and satisfaction of foodservice quality to analyze the influencing factors on foodservice quality and finally to provide basic information for the improvement of foodservice quality. A survey of 4 factory foodservices was undertaken and detailed information was collected from 675 respondents. Statistical data analysis was completed using the SPSS package program for descriptive analysis, t-test and one-way ANOVA. Male had higher scores than female in perceptions of foods and services, and the differences were statistically significant. As analysis of expectation, perception and satisfaction result of age, expectation and perception were statistically significant, and mostly expectation and perception increased according as age increased. Expectation and perception showed statistical differences by marital status. Married people had higher scores in expectation and perception of food and service than single. According to family type, respondents living alone showed lower scores in expectation and perception of food and service than those living with family or relatives. Conversely, living alone had high expectation on service. As analysis of work type, office workers showed higher scores of service expectation, food and service perception than production workers. As education level increased, food and service expectation and perception increased mostly. As analysis of work post, food and service expectation and perception increased as work post raised. Meanwhile, married people had higher scores in service quality of satisfaction than single. Result of the study can be summarized as follows the analysis of expectation, perception and satisfaction of foodservice quality, the Quadrant of food and service quality expectation and perception according to demographic variables. In Scandinavian countries, where the society experienced change of typical nuclear family structure and higher vocational activity rates of married women earlier than East Asian countries, cohousing scheme has been evolved as an alternative housing to reduce housework for working women, and to reduce loneliness of elderly people who stay in their own homes. They can promote active mutual relationship among residents in the community. Korean family structure has been stemmed to more like extended family, but the tendency to live independently from their married children is getting more and more common in new cohort of senior citizens who are active, healthy, economically stable and higher educated. Korea has been industrialized rather rapidly since 1970's and faces to many societal phenomena about quality of life for senior citizens. Introduction of alternative housing solution for these senior citizens is necessary in Korea. In this paper, Danish senior cohousing scheme, particularly, self-work model project is described about its design feature in accordance to site planning, common facility, and dwelling unit. Aiming to mutual support and more frequent social contacts among residents, self-work model cohousing scheme has different design concept from the service mode scheme. Information about design feature of senior cohousing was collected from the published data with drawings and from field survey to 10 exiting projects in Denmark. Of those, 5 projects were described as a case study. It, hopefully, could provide practical information for architectural design when establishment of senior cohousing schemes start in Korea in the near future.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors affecting career development activities of married managerial women with one or more children. The study analyzes the structural casual relationship among horizontal organizational culture, supervisor support, workplace satisfaction, occupational self-efficacy, and career development activities. Data of from Korean Women Manager Panal(KWMP) research were used from which a total number of 998 married managerial women with child were subject to analysis. The research hypothesis was verified through Structure Equation Modeling(SEM) analysis. The results are as follows. First, horizontal organizational culture and supervisor support have significant positive(+) affect on workplace satisfaction and occupational self-efficacy. Second, occupational self-efficacy significantly affected career development activities. Third, workplace satisfaction and occupational self-efficacy had mediating effect on the causal relationship between horizontal organizational culture and career development activities. At last, workplace satisfaction and occupational self-efficacy had mediating effect on the causal relationship between supervisor support and career development activities. Based on such results, implications and suggestions were discussed.
The purpose of this study was to find pathways among factors that distinguish the mothers' intention to have a second child. As for factors affecting the childbirth intention of mothers, this study aimed to explore pathways from fathers' participation in childrearing to intention of second childbirth as mediating variables, maternal parenting stress and marital satisfaction. This study used the third wave data of the Panel Study of Korean Children (PSKC) that is a national-representative birth-cohort study. Among the 1,802 participants of the PSKC, 717 mothers who have a husband/partner and only one child have responded a decided intention of second childbirth. SPSS 19.0 and Amos 19.0 were used to implement exploratory analyses of predictors and test path models. Results showed that the hypothetical model assuming a path from paternal involvement in childrearing to mothers' intention of second childbirth, mediated by maternal parenting stress and marital satisfaction fitted the data of working mothers and non-working mothers well. The results suggest policies focusing on internal characteristics of mothers and dynamics in the family.
This research is intended to find out the causes of the career interruption of highly-educated housewives, their experiences of caring for their children after career interruption, their psychological conflicts and coping strategies, and their attitudes toward reemployment. The participants were university-graduated housewives in their thirties who have pre-school children older than 2 years. The participants in this research consisted of twenty-nine participants. The essence of this study is the belief system that career and maternal roles are not compatible. Specifically, the participants possessed a certain motherhood ideology, so they gave up working in order to care for their children, deferring their careers for a while. The participants had ambivalent feelings about working mothers, and described their children by highlighting their negative aspects. Additionally, the participants experienced persistent conflicts about developing their careers and caring for their children during their period of career interruption. The participants seemed to possess a vague sense of hope about their careers, and their attitudes toward their careers were ambiguous in the past, present, and even in the future.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of welfare system of medical institutions on job satisfaction and organizational commitment of female workers. Methods : A survey was performed with 556 female workers of 11 general hospital and 7 acute period hospital in Busan. Data were collected from October to November 2017 with a self-report questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS 24.0. Results : Among those aged over 40 years, high awareness of obligatory welfare, job education, free use of the annual leave, and flexible working system was a positive factor in job satisfaction. Among managers, free use of the annual leave, job education, flexible working system and child-care facilities was a positive factor in organizational commitment. Conclusions : In medical institutions with a relatively high proportion of married women, although interest in welfare for childbirth and child rearing is high, execution is sluggish, hence, policy support of government and medical institutions in this field is necessary.
