Retention Efficiency and Flocculation Mechanism of Microparticle Systems Based on Colloidal Silica (콜로이달 실리카에 의한 마이크로 파티클 시스템의 보류 효과 및 응집 기구)

  • It is of critical importance to understand the characteristics of papermaking additives and their reaction mechanisms to fully utilize the benefits they provide. Among the papermaking additives, retention aids play critical roles in improving productivity, product quality and process economy. Diverse research efforts to understand the reaction mechanisms between cationic polymers and anionic microparticles have been made since microparticle retention systems were introduced into the market. And it is most commonly accepted that flocs formed by the addition of cationic polymers are dispersed by shear force and the broken flocs are reflocculated instantly with the addition of microparticles. There are still many unanswered questions, however, on the reaction phenomena between cationic polymers and anionic microparticles. In this study, several cationic polymers including waxy maize starch, com starch and guar gum were used to investigate their retention efficiency when they were used along with anionic colloidal silica.

An Applied Study of the AHP on the Selection of Nonmemory Semiconductor Chip (AHP를 이용한 비메모리 반도체칩 제품군 선정에 관한 연구)

  • Despite that the semiconductor industry plays an important role to our economy, it has abnormal industrial structure stressing too much on memory chips. Thus, it is essential for our corporate to develop nonmemory chips to obtain technological leadership in a highly competitive semiconductor market. In this study, we demonstrate how benefit/cost analysis using the Analytic Hierarchy process (AHP) can be used for the proper selection of nonmemory semiconductor chips: Microprocessor, ASIC, digital IC and Analogue IC. The final results show that ASIC is the most attractive chip to develop, followed by Analogue IC, digital IC and Microprocessor. This is Somewhat consistent with the information that we found with respect to the elements that were taken into consideration. Sensitivity analysis is also provided here.

  • Currently, the consumer pattern is directed to small quantity and high variety these days. World market is led by technological innovations and changes rapidly. To survive in this environment, the raising of small and medium enterprises is highly desirable. In the context of nationwide restructuring, competitive medium and small industries which are in good financial status should lead the nation's economy. But general ignorance of the safety issues could lead to a miss management of this industry in this field. In this study, actual condition and improvement of safety management are as follows; We have to 1) find out the factors which endangers this industry, and set a proper guideline for safety management. 2) encourage safety management of these industries by themselves, and advertise and provide technical support for using PC and internet. 3) set a higher standard of safety issue when accrediting a prospective medium and small industry, and have a firm control of this issue once accredited. 4) supply more governmental financial aids to terms of safety issues for medium and small industries.

  • Supercapacitors as novel energy storage devices between conventional capacitors and batteries, with more specific capacitance and energy densities than conventional capacitors and more power densities than batteries are to be used in many fields. And, social demand on fuel economy and reducing pollution needs equipment of new function such as energy storage system with good power performance, high cyclability and good energy efficiency. Supercapacitor is regarded as one of good alternatives for meeting the requirement of market with excellent power performance and high cyclability. This paper deals with the fundamental characteristics of supercapacitor unit and charge and discharge behavior of supercapacitor module for developing 42V hybrid energy storage system with lead acid battery and supercapacitor in order to adopt to 42V power net for vehicle.

  • It is expected that Korean restaurant business will become one of the most important contributors to the notion's economy by the year 2000. As the many visible and invisible trade barriers are tumbled down and market opening to foreign competition expedites, a strategy to solidify the competitiveness of the restaurant industry is urgently needed. Some of the strateges that need to sharpen the competity edge are as follows: 1. Development of restaurant business management knowhow and enhancement of information gathering capability. 2. Development of its own unique brand of food and service tailored to many different tastes of clientele. 3. Promotion of the industry's globalization efforts with the development of local restaurant brand & Korean traditional foods and with the expansion of foreign investment. 4. Reinforcement of staff training and provision of a compensation package to attract qualified personnel. 5. deregulation of many anachronistic laws and restrictions with government's full support for the industry to realize what it's supposed to be in the 21st century.

  • In order to examine the determinants of new product success, 217 winning products in Korean market are analyzed with a focus on merchantability. For the purpose of the analysis, dimensions of products are classified into function, aesthetics, economy, safety, usability, reliability, brand image, assurance, distribution channel, advertisement, DFE(desing for the environment). The major dimensions of sinning products were identified for each category of the products. The results this study would be a cue to the future direction of new product development.

  • 서로 다른 이해를 추구하는 다수의 전기사업자가 경쟁하는 전력산업 패러다임의 변화는 전력의 안정적 공급과 이러한 공정한 경쟁이 이루어질 수 있도록 뒷받침 해주는 환경조성이 더욱 절실하게 되었다. 이를 위해 국내는 계통신뢰도및전기품질 유지를 위한 최소 기술적 요건을 정하여 거래소와 전기사업자가 이를 준수하도록 관련 고시가 발효되어있다. 그러나 지난 수년간의 시장체제하에서의 계통신뢰도 확보의 보완사항과 변화하는 대외적 환경변화에 발맞추어 계통신뢰도 기준에 대한 선진화의 필요성이 제기되었으며, 신재생전원 확대, 지능형 송전망 구축 국가적 마스터플랜 등에 따른 기술고시 개정이 논의 중에 있다. 이에 국내 전력계통신뢰도및전기품질 유지 기준 선진화를 위한 제도적, 기술적 현안사항들을 다루어 보고자 한다.

  • Development of crops with high quality as well as various beneficial functions is necessary to satisfy consumers being interested in their health and to enhance a competitiveness in the international market of agricultural products. What we have achieved so far from our research on crop quality was not sufficient since we often neglected sensory feature of crop products such as eating quality but in many cases, we put more emphases on nutrient contents, physico-chemical properties, and out-appearing features of the products. Therefore developments of sensory elements and technique for evaluation with a priority given to eating quality of each of an individual crop are important and very urgent to be solved in Korea. An endeavor to develop bioactive crops is necessary and resonable but aspects of both productivity and economy with a special emphasis on the original purposes such as production of energy and nutrient for human life must be considered. The development of more concrete ideas for crop functionality is essential before any research goes further.

  • Since the industrial revolution in 19 century, there had been a pro and con argument on which is better solution between privatization and nationalization in developing the infrastructure projects and in maintaining the infrastructure facilities worldwide. This paper introduces the privatization-nationalization wheel along with its advantage and disadvantage. At this stage according to the global trend, it is the time that the most of infrastructure projects are being developed by the private sector in the industrialized countries. It is mainly because the product or the services produced by the facilities of the infrastructure should be fully paid back by the end users according to the mechanism of the market economy. Some solutions have been suggested for the future development of infrastructure projects in S-N Korea.

  • The Korean cattle industry is important to farming households, the national economy, and the security of foodstuffs in Korea. Since Korean cattle have had inferior ability to produce meat, the Korean cattle industry aimed to improve the meat production ability and to increase numbers to meet the demand from the growing beef cattle market in Korea. This paper reviews the history of the Korean cattle industry and surveys the efforts devoted to improve genetic abilities of the Korean cattle. Discussed are current situations of the Korean cattle industry, projects related to improvement of Korean cattle, Korean cattle's genetic characteristics of economic traits, and some issues to deal with.
