코스닥시장에서 국제다각화 기업의 소유구조가 대리인 비용에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Ownership Structures on Agency Costs in Internationally Diversified Firms: A Data Analysis of the KOSDAQ Market)

  • Purpose - This study aimed to identify the effects of ownership structures on agency costs in internationally diversified firms listed on the KOSDAQ market. Design/methodology/approach - A total of 5,824 samples were finally selected and empirically analyzed for a total of nine years from 2011 to 2019, during which the International Accounting Standards had been mandatory for firms listed on the KOSDAQ market. Findings - The results of this study showed that the effects of ownership structures on the ratio of asset turnover are positive for the major share and foreign equity ratios of international diversified firms. Moreover, by selecting the ratio of entertainment expenses as a proxy for agency expenses, this study confirmed that the effects of the ownership structure of an international diversified entity on entertainment expenditure were determined to show a significantly negative relation to entertainment expenditure, thus indicating that the higher the ratio of major shareholders, the more appropriately control the expenditure of entertainment expenses through arbitrary private deviations of the management.Furthermore, considering the effect of the ownership structure on the expenditure of sales and administrative expenses as a proxy variable for agency costs, this study verified that the majority share ratio of international diversified firms was negative to the expenditure of sales and administrative expenses, confirming that the higher the share of major shareholders, the lower the selling and administrative costs, but insignificant.Finally, as a result of determining whether the ownership structure of an international diversified firm affects the holding of free cash, the majority share of this firm shows a significantly negative relation to the ratio of the holding of surplus cash, indicating that the higher the proportion of major shareholders, the more appropriately control the holding of the entity's free cash through arbitrary private deviance by the manager. Research implications or Originality - Major shareholders of an internationally diversified firm listed on the KOSDAQ market play a positive role in the firm's performance by properly controlling agency costs that may be incurred by the management.

The Relationship on Risk Type, Risk Management and Business Performance - Evidence from Korean FDIs in China

  • Purpose - As the well-known Structure-Conduct-Performance paradigm implies, risk structure of a corporation may affect its risk management activity and the activity may in turn determine its performance. Depending on its goal, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) can shape its risk structure, risk management and its performance. Under this assumption, we investigate the relationship between the goals of FDI and risk management for the first time in academics. Design/methodology - This empirical research uses a survey of 279 current Korean enterprises' FDIs in China with the recently developed business risk quadrant model. Companies are classified into either a market- or an efficiency-seeking group, to identify how each group perceives and manages risks, and values the performance of risk management. Also, we apply integrated risk management method that multinational corporations have introduced in China, then verify the mediating effect between risk factors and performance. Findings - Our research shows the FDIs can expose themselves to differing risk structure although risk management activities simply represent the level of empowerment given to local management by headquarter due to limit of sample size despite diversity of risk and risk management tools. To sum, market seekers are found to have more strategic risk (revenue related risk) than efficiency seekers with financial risk (cost related risk). The market seekers can manage their risk by empowering their local organisation while the efficiency does the opposite ways. The risk management appears to be successful in general. Originality/value - Previous studies on small and medium enterprises' FDIs to China have concentrated on the analysis of entry determinants, withdrawal factors and individual risk management. Meanwhile, this research establishes enterprise-wide risk factors faced by the companies that advance into China, according to the method of the classification by ERM and verifies if they could synthetically improve performance through risk corresponding measures.

소프트웨어(SW)산업구조 이해를 위한 유관 통계 간 비교분석 연구 (A Comparative Analysis Study of Relevant Statistics for Understanding the Structure of the Software(SW) Industry)

  • To grasp the structure of an industry and monitor its changes, it is essential to utilize relevant statistics. Various statistics are being compiled regarding the software (SW) industry, presenting diverse numerical values. However, without a precise understanding of the scope and measurement methods inherent to each statistic, gaining a rigorous understanding of the industry's structure and evolving trends becomes challenging. Moreover, significant discrepancies between similar statistics often lead to confusion among users. In the software (SW) industry, key statistics commonly used include SW production value and SW market size. As of 2022, the annual domestic SW production value is reported as 77.4 trillion KRW (based on ICT Survey), while the SW market size for the same year is stated as 38.5 trillion KRW (according to IDC data). Although production value and market size may seem conceptually similar, there is approximately a twofold difference between the figures provided. Without understanding the meanings of each statistic and the differences between them, there are limitations in utilizing these statistics effectively. While statistics are utilized for various purposes such as policy development or causal analysis of policy using statistical raw data, research that presents and analyzes the precise meanings and limitations of each SW-related statistic is virtually non-existent. Thus, this study aims to compare and analyze the methodologies and differences among key statistics used to represent the SW industry: SW production value, SW market size, and SW GDP statistics. Through this analysis, the goal is to contribute to a better understanding of the SW industry's structure and enable more accurate and rigorous utilization of relevant statistics.

Hendry Model을 활용한 기업용데이터서비스시장의 경쟁구조 분석 및 전략 제언 (The Analysis of Competition Structure in Business Data Service Market Using Henry Model and Suggestion for Competitive Strategies)

  • 전통적으로 기업용데이터서비스시장에서 독점적인 위치를 차지하고 있는 전용회선서비스는 현행 통신사업 분류 체계상 기간통신서비스 가운데 회선설비에 해당되고 FR, VPN, ATM 등의 대체서비스들은 부가통신서비스에 해당되어, 사업자 전략을 도출하기 위한 시장분석에 필요한 데이터 확보도 어려을 뿐더러 사업자에 대한 규제나 정책 등이 차별적으로 적용되는 경우가 많아 기업용데이터서비스시장에 대한 정확한 시장정의가 필요하다. 따라서 본 논문은 시장을 정의하는 다양한 방법론들을 고찰하여, 서비스 간 대체성 분석이 용이한 Hendry Model을 활용하여 기업용데이터서비스시장의 경쟁구조를 분석하였다. 먼저 Hendry Mode떼 사용될 가상 경쟁구조를 설정하기 위해 시장의 경쟁환경을 분석하기에 유용한 Porter Model을 이용하여 기업용데이터서비스시장의 가상경쟁구조를 전용회선제공업체간 경쟁과 서비스간 경쟁으로 설정하였다. 다음단계로 각 경쟁구조를 Hendry Model에 적용하여 예측된 차년도 시장점유율과 실제 시장점유율을 비교하여 전용회선제공업체간 경쟁은 7개 업체가 직접적으로 경쟁하기 보다는 2개의 하부시장으로 나누어 경쟁하고 있음을 확인하였고, 서비스간 경쟁은 전용회선, FR, VPN, ATM 등 4가 서비스가 직접적인 경쟁관계를 가지고 있음을 확인하였다. 마지막으로 Hendry Model을 이용해 도출된 Switching Probability Matrix를 이용하여 2003년까지의 전용회선제공업체들의 시장점유율과 기업용데이터서비스들의 시장점유율을 예측하고 이에 따른 경쟁전략을 고찰하였다. 이러한 분석 결과는 사업자들이 향후 자기 잠식을 최소화시키며 효율적으로 수요를 견인하는 경쟁전략과 신규서비스에 대한 포지셔닝 전락을 도출하는 데 도움이 될 것이며, 실제 시장의 경쟁구조를 확인함으로써 현재 차별적으로 적용되고 있는 규제나 정책 부문을 개선할 수 있는 근거가 될 것이다.

일본 자동차시장의 경쟁구조 변화와 한국기업의 대일 수출전략에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Changes of the Competition Structure of the Japanese Automobile Market and the Korean Enterprises' Strategies of Export to Japan)

  • 한국은 지난해 주력수출품목인 승용차(HS 8703)를 전세계에 409억불 수출하였다. 그러나 인접국인 일본시장에의 수출은 대 전세계 수출규모와 비교한다면 거의 없는 수준이다. 비록 장기간 경기침체 속에 있다하더라도 일본 자동차시장의 신차판매는 연간 500만대 규모의 큰 시장이다. 이러한 관점에서 일본 자동차시장의 경쟁구조를 분석하여, 이에 적합한 한국 자동차기업의 대일 수출전략을 제시하는 것은 의미가 있을 것이다. 본고는 J. S. Bain에 의하여 정립된 상위기업집중율($CR_k$)과 이단경지(伊丹敬之)(Itami Hiroyuki) 등의 일본시장 특성에 관한 선행연구를 이론적 배경으로 하여, 일본 자동차시장의 경쟁구조 변화를 분석하였다. 그 결과, 일본의 자동차시장에서는 시장지배적 위치에 있는 기업이 존재하고는 있으나, 차종별로 들어가면 빅3의 지배력에도 상당한 차이가 발생하고 있을 뿐만 아니라 경쟁구조도 계속 변화하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 따른, 한국 자동차기업의 대일 수출전략으로 일본 자동차메이커와의 제휴를 통한 유통채널 상호활용 전략, 한국자동차의 브랜드전략, 일본사양(Designed for Japan) 개발을 통한 고급화전략 등을 제시하였다.

자본비율의 확률과정을 통한 조건부자본증권 가격결정론 (Pricing Model for Contingent Convertible Bond Using Stochastic Process of Equity Ratio)

  • Contingent convertible (Coco) bonds have been issued in 2009 after financial crisis for improvement of capital structure in international banks. With more focuses on coco bonds in financial market, academic fields have paid attention to the instrument for optimal structure for issuers and rational pricing methodologies. However, there is a crucial discrepancy in prevailing pricing model and their target subjects. Though most of the coco bonds have been issued based on accounting triggers, many of existing models are based on market prices and therefore exhibit limitations in practical use. In this paper, a more practical pricing method for accounting triggered coco bonds is proposed using stochastic equity ratio process. Empirical results tested on coco bond issued by JB financial group supported the proposed approach with favorable performance in tracking actual market prices.

  • An an exploratory attempt, this study examines the patterns of strategic changes of the firms and changes in strategic group structure in response to environmental changes of the industry. Empirical analyses of 39 firms in the Korean tile industry for the period of 1986-1990 reveals that :1) environmental changes had different impacts on attractiveness of different product/market segments :2) the relatively large firms in less attractive product/market segments were more likely to change their domains :3) according to their specific target product/market segments, the firms tended to strengthen different resource capabilities which were identified as key success factorss to compete in each target segment : and 4) these differences in strategic changes of the firms resulted in the changes in strategic group structure during the same period. Implications and the limitations of this study are finally discussed.

  • 전자상거래 시스템은 시스템의 확장, 유지, 보수문제 등의 문제가 개발에 어려움을 주고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 JAVA 와 CORBA를 이용하여 3-Tier주식매매 관리 시스템을 제안한다. 본 시스템은 CORBA의 이벤트 서비스를 이용하여 인터렉티브한 환경을 구현하였고, 확장성, 속도, 유연성, 보안성, 유지·보수, 효율성이 뛰어난 시스템을 위하여 CORBA와 JDBC 미들웨어를 이용하여 3-tier 구조 주식매매 관리 시스템을 구현하였다.

  • Although the depression of oversea construction market becomes more serious recent years, asian construction market is relatively dynamic, particularly in china. However, few research has been conducted about how to manage construction projects in china as foreign developers. Four important risks are identified from series of surveys using the WBS-RBS method, the result shows that the main risk of tender stage is 'Tender max price error', ' Bill of quantities error', 'Unusual low price' and 'Moral risk' respectively.

  • With the proliferation of EC, many customers have been participating into online auction or group-buying market over searching internet shopping-malls to purchase goods. To support the customer's convenient transaction, lots of agent systems are developed to facilitate the customer's product brokering, merchant brokering, and negotiation of transaction. However, many of these systems have focused upon supporting transaction at only one type of marketplace. Since these marketplaces have different transaction settlement mechanism, it is necessary to develop the system that utilizes the customer's transaction including the selection of the type of marketplace to buy. Then we classify the kinds of B2C electronic marketplace according to the protocol by which the market operated. The structure of negotiation message is developed using XML schema and RDFS under the characteristics and message example of each marketplace in this research.
