In this paper, we present a method for the enhancement of marker detection correctness and marker recognition speed by using artificial neural network. Contours of objects are extracted from the input image. They are approximated to a list of line segments. Quadrangles are found with the geometrical features of the approximated line segments. They are normalized into exact squares by using the warping technique and scale transformation. Feature vectors are extracted from the square image by using principal component analysis. Artincial neural network is used to checks if the square image is a marker image or a non-marker image. After that, the type of marker is recognized by using an artificial neural network. Experimental results show that the proposed method enhances the correctness of the marker detection and recognition.

In this paper, a novel method of marker detection robust against marker occlusion in augmented reality is proposed. the proposed method consists of four steps. In the first step, in order to effectively detect an occluded marker, we first utilize the Affine-SIFT (ASIFT, Affine-Scale Invariant Features Transform) for detecting matching points between an enrolled marker and an input images with an occluded marker. In the second step, we apply the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) for eliminating outlier of the matching points in the enrolled marker. And then matching points are projected to the first and second axis for longest value and the shortest value of an ellipse are determined by average distance between the projected points and a center of the points. In the third step, Convex-hull vertices including matching points are considered as polygon vertices for estimating a geometric affine transformation. In the final step, by estimating the geometric affine transformation of the points, a marker robust against a marker occlusion is detected. Experimental results have shown that the proposed method effectively detects occlude markers.
In this paper, we present a method for performance enhancement of the marker detection system by using SVM(Support Vector Machine) and LDA(Linear Discriminant Analysis). It converts the input image to a binary image and extracts contours of objects in the binary image. After that, it approximates the contours to a list of line segments. It finds quadrangle by using geometrical features which are extracted from the approximated line segments. It normalizes the shape of extracted quadrangle into exact squares by using the warping technique and scale transformation. It extracts feature vectors from the square image by using principal component analysis. It then checks if the square image is a marker image or a non-marker image by using a SVM classifier. After that, it computes feature vectors by using LDA for the extracted marker images. And it calculates the distance between feature vector of input marker image and those of standard markers. Finally, it recognizes the marker by using minimum distance method. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves enhancement of recognition rate with smaller feature vectors by using LDA and it can decrease false detection errors by using SVM.
Objectives : Ongyeong-tang (OGT) is a traditional herbal formula used to cure gynaecological disorders. OGT consists of 12 herbal medicines containing various bioactive components. Therefore, the development of suitable analytical method for the marker compounds is necessary for the quality control of OGT. Methods : Determination of the 18 marker compounds in OGT preparations was quantitatively performed by high-performance liquid chromatography-photodiode array detection analysis. The marker compounds were separated on a reversed-phase C 18 column and the analytical method was successfully validated, which was applied to compare OGT extracts from laboratory preparation and commercial OGT granules. Results : Limit of detection and limit of quantification values were in the ranges of $0.001-0.016{\mu}g/mL$ and $0.003-0.047{\mu}g/mL$, respectively. Precision was 0.03-3.71 % within a day and 0.03-3.81 % over four consecutive days. Recovery of marker compounds ranged from 90.63-108.26 %, with relative standard deviation (RSD) values < 4.0 %. Reproducibility was < 2.5 % of the RSD value. The 18 marker compounds were stable within 16 h at $10^{\circ}C$, with the RSD value < 3.5 %. Quantitative analysis results showed that the quantities of the 18 marker compounds varied among OGT samples. Pearson coefficient evaluation and principal component analysis demonstrated that an OGT water extract produced by a laboratory method clearly differed from commercial OGT granules. Conclusions : The developed analytical method was simple, precise, and reliable. Therefore, it can be used for the quality assessment of OGT preparations.

In this paper, we present a marker detection and recognition method from camera image for a disabled person to interact with a server system which can control appliance of surrounding environment. It converts the camera image to a binary image by using multi-threshold and extracts contours of objects in the binary image. After that, it approximates the contours to a list of line segments. It finds rectangular markers by using geometrical features which are extracted from the approximated line segments. It normalizes the shape of extracted markers into exact squares by using the warping technique. It extracts feature vectors from marker image by using principal component analysis and then recognizes the marker. The proposed marker recognition system is robust for light change by using multi-threshold. Also, it is robust for angular variation of camera by using warping technique and principal component analysis. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves 100% recognition rate at maximum for 21 markers and execution speed of 12 frames/sec.

To provide the end-to-end service differentiation for assured services, the random early demotion and promotion (REDP) marker in the edge router at each domain boundary monitors the aggregate flow of the incoming in-profile packets and demotes in-profile packets or promotes the previously demoted in-profile packets at the aggregate flow level according to the negotiated interdomain service level agreement (SLA). The REDP marker achieves UDP fairness in demoting and promoting packets through random and early marking decisions on packets. But, TCP fairness of the REDP marker is not obvious as for UDP sources. In this paper, to improve TCP fairness of the REDP marker, we propose a modified REDP marker where we combine a dropper, meters and a token filling rate configuration component with the REDP marker. To make packet transmission rates of TCP flows more fair, at the aggregate flow level the combined dropper drops incoming excessive in-profile packets randomly with a constant probability when the token level in the leaky bucket stays in demotion region without incoming demoted in-profile packets. Considering the case where the token level cannot stay in demotion region without the prior demotion, we propose a token filling rate configuration method using traffic meters. By using the token filling rate configuration method, the modified REDP marker newly configures a token filling rate which is less than the negotiated rate determined by interdomain SLA and larger than the current input aggregate in-profile traffic rate. Then, with the newly configured token filling rate, the token level in the modified REDP marker can stay in demotion region pertinently fir the operation of the dropper to improve TCP fairness. We experiment with the modified REDP marker using ns2 simulator fur TCP sources at the general case where the token level cannot stay in demotion region without the prior demotion at the negotiated rate set as the bottleneck link bandwidth. The simulation results demonstrate that through the combined dropper with the newly configured token filling rate, the modified REDP marker also increases both aggregate in-profile throughput and link utilization in addition to TCP fairness improvement compared to the REDP marker.
Objectives: The marker substances of cultivated wild ginseng pharmacopuncture that may not be detected during the process of steaming remain controversial. We developed a combined cultivated wild ginseng pharmacopuncture that contains all the marker substances. The aim of this experiment was to investigate the marker substances and test the toxicity of the combined cultivated wild ginseng pharmacopuncture. Methods: The marker substances were detected using HPLC. Intravenous injection toxicity studies were conducted at Medvill, an authorized institution for non-clinical studies, under the regulations of Good Laboratory Practice. We observed survival rates, abnormal behaviors, weight changes, gross findings in autopsy, blood biochemical properties, and histological abnormalities of organs such as the liver and kidney. Results: HPLC data showed that ginsenosides Rg1, Rb1, and Rg3 were detected at concentrations of 19.29, 47.64, and 3.02 μ g /ml, respectively. Administration of combined cultivated wild ginseng pharmacopuncture resulted in no dead animals or significant toxicological changes. Conclusions: The combined cultivated wild ginseng pharmacopuncture contains all the marker substances and is a relatively safe treatment medium. Further studies should be conducted to confirm the present findings.

The Yangsan Fault is one of the main fault systems in the Korean peninsula. It can be divided into three segments (northern, central, and southern) by its paleoseismic and structural geologic properties. Based on the geomorphic features of the northern segment, which includes the Yugye Fault, we identified deflected streams as a geomorphic marker of strike-slip component of the fault, and knickpoints along the streams as evidence of dip-slip component of the fault. Geomorphic analyses showed that (1) the horizontal displacements of deflected streams decreased and (2) the retreat amounts of knickpoints tend to increased toward north along the lineament. We interpreted the variations caused by strain partitioning; that is, there might be some increases of the vertical component toward north, whereas the main strike-slip fault system dies out, splaying into horsetail structure toward north. Based on the response time of the landforms, these interpretations imply that (1) there were differences between horizontal slip rate and vertical slip rate along strike, and/or (2) there were different timings between horizontal and vertical deformations by fault.
