  • In this paper we examined a novel extension of the convergence empirics for the maritime business cycle which considers structure breaks and/or changes. To provide theoretical justification, the convergence hypothesis uses the relaxed assumption to technology shocks. Based on the recent empirical results provided by Kim and Chang (2020), we consider nonlinear dynamics that capture the properties on structural changes in the equilibrium adjustment process. This approach bridges the gap between the theoretical framework and empirical specifications. In particular, we applied the convergence hypothesis to the multiple structure change model for the maritime business cycle. Our application to the maritime data showed support of the convergence hypothesis allowing multiple structure changes during the high volatile period and offers additional insight into the forecasting maritime business cycles.

  • This paper deals with nonlinear system modelling using neural network and genetic algorithm. Application of neural network to control and identification is actively studied because of their approximating ability of nonlinear function. It is important to design the neural network with optimal structure for minimum error and fast response time. Genetic algorithm is getting more popular nowadays because of their simplicity and robustness. In this paper, We optimize neural network structure using genetic algorithm. The genetic algorithm uses binary coding for neural network structure and search for optimal neural network structure of minimum error and response time. Through extensive simulation, Optimal neural network structure is shown to be effective for ...

  • Since the destruction of World Trade Center the attention of the United States and the wider international community has focussed upon the need to strengthen security and prevent terrorism This paper suggests an analysis prior to risk factor and structure for anti-terrorism in the korean maritime society. For this, in this paper, maritime terror risk factor was extracted by type and case of terror using brainstorming method. Also, risk factor is structured by FSM method and analyzed for ranking of each risk factor by AHP. At the result, the evaluation of risk factor is especially over maximum factor for related external impact.

  • For composing the structure model of national maritime power system by system structural modeling, in this study, the 50 basic factors are selected by survey of the extensive and through literatures on maritime, sea, maritime power and sea power. And the basic factors are classified into 36 component factors by cluster method. The 9 attributes are extracted by the application of the principle component analysis method, one of the factor analysis method in system engineering, to component factors. In this study, we define the attributes composing the national maritime power system by integrating the result of this study and existed our studies relating to this topic. Which are showed in Table 2. and we show the structure model of national maritime power system in Fig. 3. In Table 2, the 9 attributes are as follows : the fundamental power of maritime, shipping and port power, naval power, fishing power, shipbuilding power, the power of ocean research and development, dependency on seaborne trade, the protection power of ocean environment and the will and inclination of govemment. Also, in the case of evaluating this system, we conform the importance of considering the interactions among the attributes which have strong interactions in structure model of national maritime power system.

  • This paper investigates the applicability of modularized floating structure. A floating parking place is considered as an example of moularized structure. It is assumed that the example structure is composed of reinforced concrete box modules and steel connectors. By analyzing stresses of the structure under static and wave loads, the optimal stiffness of the module is determined In the numerical calculation, the direct method is used Economical effectiveness of the modularized structure is also evaluated by analyzing cost for materials, manufacture and installation.

  • An Woljung wooden bridge structure, which assumde to has been built in the unification of shilla dynasty, was excavated at Nam-chun river basin inKyung-ju. As a result of primary investigation, the weigh loss was 70-80% and the volumetric shrinkage was up to 38% without any conservation. Between 1986 and1991, they were conserved by the two step PEG treatment at the Mokpo Conservation Institute for Maritime Archaeological Finds.

  • A novel design of compact low-pass filter based on microstrip structure and its equivalent-circuit model are developed. The philosophy of the structure behind this novel microstrip low-pass filter is simple as it is composed of a pair of symmetrical parallel coupled-line and an open-stub. With this configuration, a finite attenuation pole near the stopband cutoff frequency is available and adjustable by simply tuning the circuit parameters. Furthermore, the rejection bandwidth of this type of low-pass filter can be extended. In order to validate the feasibility of the proposed design method, a low-pass filter based on a microstrip structure is designed, fabricated, and measured. Experimental results agree very well with the simulation and analytical results.
