  • The image processing system consisted of the microcomputer IBM PC-XT and the graphic board (16 gray level and $640{\times}400$ pixels resolution) has been proposed, and the image processing softwares programmed in the BASIC and in the assembler language have been developed. The programs are consisted of the main menu and the sub menu, that have contained the subroutine for the capture for image data, the determination of region, the histogram, the change of value, the montage, the skeleton, the mask, the moving, the zoom, the disk access and the print. For the application, the photoelastic fringe data have been captured and analyzed. It was seen that the programs are available for the image processing.

A Study of Image Classification using HMC Method Applying CNN Ensemble in the Infrared Image

  • In the marine environment, many clutters have similar features with the marine targets due to the diverse changes of the air temperature, water temperature, various weather and seasons. Also, the clutters in the ground environment have similar features due to the same reason. In this paper, we proposed a robust Hybrid Machine Character (HMC) method to classify the targets from the clutters in the infrared images for the various environments. The proposed HMC method adopts human's multiple personality utilization and the CNN ensemble method to classify the targets in the ground and marine environments. This method uses an advantage of the each environmental training model. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method has better success rate to classify the targets and clutters than previously proposed CNN classification method.

화상해석에 의한 기계윤할 운동면의 작동상태 진단 (Operating Condition Diagnosis of the Lubricated Machine Moving Surface by Image Analysis)

  • The most part of the faculty drop a trouble and damage of machine equipment even if whatever cause they break out take place at local and trifling place and the factor dominating their trouble is due to wear debris occurred in the lubricated machine moving surface. This study has been car-ried out to identify morphology of wear debris on the lubricated machine moving system by means of computer image analysis. Namely the wear debris contained in lubricating oil extracted from movable machine equipment will be filtered through membrane filter(void diameter 0.45${\mu}m$) and will be analyzed with its data information such as 50% volume diameter aspect roundness and reflectivity. Morphological characteristic of wear debris is easily distinguished by four shape parameters it is necessary to divide small class of every 100 wear debris in total wear particles in order to distinguish morphological characteristic of wear debris more easily by computer image analysis. We are sure that operation condition diagnosis of the lubricated machine moving surfaces is possible by computer image analysis.

  • A new algorithm for measuring 3-D velocity components of high speed flows were developed using a digital image processing technique. The measuring system consists of three CCD cameras an optical instrument called AOM a digital image grabber and a host computer. The images of mov-ing particles arranged spatially on a rotation plate are taken by two or three CCD cameras and are recorderd onto the image grabber or a video tape recoder. The three-dimensionl velocity com-ponents of the particles are automatically obtained by the developed algorithm In order to verify the validity of this technique three-dimensional velocity data sets obtained from a computer simu-lation of a backward facing step flow were used as test data for the algorithm. an uncertainty analysis associated with the present algorithm is systematically evaluated, The present technique is proved to be used as a tookl for the measurement of unsteady three-dimensional fluid flows.

Invader Detection System Using the Morphological Filtering and Difference Images Based on the Max-Valued Edge Detection Algorithm

  • Recently, pirates are infesting on the sea and they have been hijacking the several vessels for example Samho Dream and Samho Jewelry of Korea. One of the items to reduce the risk is to adopt the invader detection system. If the pirates break in to the ship, the detection system can monitor the pirates and then call the security alarm. The crew can gain time to hide to the safe room and the report can be automatically sent to the control room to cope with the situation. For the invader detection, an unmanned observation system was proposed using the image detection algorithm that extracts the invader image from the recording image. To detect the motion area, the difference value was calculated between the current image and the prior image of the invader, and the 'AND' operator was used in calculated image and edge line. The image noise was reduced based on the morphology operation and then the image was transformed into morphological information. Finally, a neural network model was applied to recognize the invader. In the experimental results, it was confirmed that the proposed approach can improve the performance of the recognition in the invader monitoring system.

수중촬영조사법과 음향자원조사법을 활용한 울주군 연안 소규모 바다목장 해역의 어류 군집 조사 (Visual census and hydro-acoustic survey of demersal fish aggregations in Ulju small scale marine ranching area (MRA), Korea)

  • Visual census and hydro-acoustic survey was carried out at Ulju small scale marine ranching area (MRA) to estimate demersal fish aggregations on September and November 2013. In this hydro-acoustic survey, the authors combined an image sonar with a scientific echo sounder to monitor an underwater situation and compare two acoustic data. Consequently, visual census survey was useful to estimate fish species composition for hydro-acoustic survey, because it is easy to identify aggregated fish species and overcome limits on a fishing depth and ability of an conventional fishing gear like a bottom gill-net or a fish trap at marine ranching area. Mean fish density was estimated as $0.757g/m^2$ on September and $0.219g/m^2$ on November and Fish abundance was finally calculated as 1.51ton (coefficient of variation, CV=13.1%) on September and 0.44ton (CV=47.7%) on November, respectively. Hydro-acoustic survey combined with the image sonar was useful to monitor fish aggregations and estimate fish stocks around artificial reefs at shallow coastal MRA. We were able to easily identify the underwater structures like an artificial reef and a fishing rope as well as fish aggregations from image sonar data. Therefore, the method was effective to separate unwanted echo signals in acoustic data of scientific echo sounder.

위성영상 기반 해양수산 양식장의 경계 데이터 추출 (A Study on Extracting Boundary Data of Marine Fish Farms Based on Satellite Images)

  • 선박의 안전 운항과 해양수산 양식장 관리를 위해 해양수산 빅데이터 구축에 필요한 해양수산 양식장의 경계를 추출한 데이터 셋은 어장 허가 구역과의 일치 여부 조사를 통해 선박의 운항 경로에 불법 설치 시 장애물 정보를 미리 제공할 수 있다. 또한, 해양 사고 등에 의한 피해보상을 위해 필요한 양식장 조업 여부도 파악할 수 있으며, 해당 지자체에서는 어장도와의 중첩 비교를 통해 어장 관리 등에 사용할 수 있다. 선박의 안전 운항을 위한 전자해도에 물표 표시를 통해 운항 경로상의 장애물 파악에 필요한 기초 데이터로써 활용이 높다. 이 연구에서는 양식장의 경계 추출을 위해 충분한 공간해상도를 가지며 짧은 주기로 반복하여 촬영하는 유럽항공우주국 (ESA; europe space agency)의 Sentinel-2 위성영상 자료를 사용하였다. 영상 이미지에서 양식장의 주기별 현황 데이터의 생산을 위해 해상의 구역별 데이터를 부산권, 울산권, 거제·창원권, 고성·통영권, 남해·사천권의 5개 관리 구역으로 나누어 처리하였으며, 구역별 위성영상의 수집과 영상의 강조 처리 과정을 거쳐 양식장의 경계 데이터와 메타정보를 추출하였다.

디젤 엔진에서 생성된 크랭크케이스 수트의 재활용 가능성 연구 (Study on the Possibility of Recycling Crankcase Soot from Diesel Engine)

  • 본 연구에서는 선박용 디젤 엔진에서 발생되는 크랭크케이스 수트(soot)의 재활용 가능성을 검토하기 위하여, 수트를 배기관에서 발생하는 수트와 크랭크케이스에서 발생한 수트로 분류하고, 열처리에 따른 수트의 구조적 특성을 분석하였다. 열처리는 아르곤 가스 분위기에서 2,000℃와 2,700℃로 열처리를 수행하였고, 샘플의 구조적 특성 분석을 위해 라만분광법(Raman spectroscopy)과 고분해능 전자현미경(HRTEM)을 활용하였다. 또한, 취득한 HRTEM 이미지를 정량적으로 분석하기 위해 디지털 이미지 처리(Digital Image Processing) 기법을 활용하였다. 라만 분석 결과, 배기 수트와 2,700℃로 열처리한 수트에서 상대적으로 높은 G/D ratio가 나타났다. HRTEM 이미지에서는 두 수트 모두 유사한 형태의 흑연화된 나노 구조를 확인할 수 있었으나, 수트의 종류와 열처리 온도차에 따른 흑연화 정도의 차이를 정량적으로 도출할 수 없는 한계가 있었다. 이에 Digital Image Processing을 통해 HRTEM 이미지의 fringe의 길이와 곡률을 정량적으로 분석하였으며, 라만 분석과 일치하는 결과를 도출할 수 있었다. 이는 배기 수트가 크랭크케이스 수트에 비해 더 흑연화 된 구조를 가지는 것을 의미하며, 더 높은 온도에서 열처리 할 경우 흑연의 구조로 더 잘 발달함을 의미한다. 본 연구의 결과로 크랭크케이스 수트 역시 배기 수트와 마찬가지로 흑연계 재료로 재활용이 가능함을 확인하였다.

Study on Estimating the Shape of a Ship by Integrating Radar Images

  • The image of an object obtained by the radar is not corresponding to its true shape, because the image of an object observed by the radar is receiving an influence such as multiple-reflections and expanded in bearing because of the beam width of a radar. In addition, a radio wave does not hit the entire surface of an object. Therefore, the image of the front side of a ship facing a radar antenna corresponds to its true shape. In this paper, a method to estimate a ship's shape by means of the integration of the front parts of images obtained from radars is proposed. In addition, a matter, which is observation error of each radar, in using multi-radars, and the process included in the proposed method for solving the matter, are described. As a result of the experiment, the accuracy of about 3 degrees in ship's heading and about 14 meters in length and about 9 meters in beam was obtained.

  • The partical-image-velocimetry with liquid crystal tracers is used for visualizing and analysis of the bubbly flow in a vertical temperature gradient. This method allows simultaneous measurement of velocity and temperature flow fields at a given instant of time. Quantitative data of velocity were obtained by applying the MQD technique to visualized image. The paper describes the method, and presents the transient velocity patterns of bubbly flow.
