A IOCP-based Server for Product Information Management System of Small and Medium Size Manufacturing Companies (중소 제조업체의 생산정보 관리시스템을 위한 IOCP 기반 서버)

  • In order to keep global competitiveness, most of small and medium size manufacturing companies require to equip a product information management system which collects and analyzes the data generated at the manufacturing lines and then provides information for manager or worker to make a decision. However, these companies have a cost problem for adopting the enterprise resource planning system mostly used in large companies. To overcome this problem, we suggest an IOCP-based server for the product information management system suitable for small and medium size manufacturing companies. The basic concept of suggested server is that it is possible to process concurrently the connection requests coming from data collector and client by using the facility of asynchronous notification of OS and protect a server against overload by using the thread pool.

  • A competitive automated manufacturing system integrates the various control processes and data used in service of products. design, manufacturing, and, sale. CIM is a way to achieve such integration through computers and computational techniques in manufacturing, planning, and design. Developing effective CIM architectures is hampered by integration problems. The key to resolving these problems lies in a better understanding of manufacturing function and how it is related to other manufacturing functions. Integration of CIM environment requires coordinated solutions to data management problems for individual application system as well as for exchange of data between these applications. This requires a common framework for data management throughout the CIM environment. This paper discusses the design paradigm as a framework for this purpose. Designing an organizational structure to meet those goals invloves 1) analyzing the functions through functional decomposition, 2) developing a data model to coordinate functions. As a result, we propose an object-oriented design methodology for manufacturing information system.

  • Classification and Coding(C&C) systems as a core of design information management have been accomplished by many studies in terms of design and manufacturing attribute based on Group Technology. Those are very difficult to apply in make-to-order(MTO) manufacturing because the environment of MTO has various characteristics of product, many licensors, engineering change, insufficiency of integrated management system for codes and so on. This paper presents a suitable C&C system to MTO manufacturing which consider management level and drawing.

  • To increase the productivity and efficiency of an enterprise, all relevant product information should be provided to shop floor workers timely and in a unified form because shop floor workers are final consumers of most accumulated information generated from various departments of an enterprise. but, most existing enterprise information systems have an emphasis upon providing design/manufacturing information to office workers. Proposed in this study is a development of integrated design/manufacturing information system focused system, the function required for shop floor activities. For developing integrated information system, the functional required for shop floor are identified and analyzed. Based on the extracted functional requirements, object-oriented system design and implementation is conducted. By using this system, shop floor workers can refer to all relevant information necessary to their work easily and in a integrated form.

  • The cost modeling of the LCD manufacturing system with the repair and the rework process is hard to achieve because of it's complex manufacturing process. The technical cost modeling divides each process separately and hierarchically, so it is very useful to calculate the total manufacturing cost of the complex manufacturing system. We applied the method to the complex LCD manufacturing system to obtain more accurate cost model. Yields are the most important control parameters in manufacturing. In this paper, we propose a yield based cost model for the LCD manufacturing system and reveal the relationship between manufacturing yield and cost. Through the model, we can estimate the manufacturing cost on the basis of yields that are control indicators of manufacturing. Some simulations are performed to observe the effects of the yield to the cost, and the results are coincide with the real situation. With the proposed model, we expect to develop some optimization problems for enlarging productivity in the LCD industry.

  • This paper presents a statistical process control(SPC) system in the electronic parts manufacturing process. In this system, an SPC method is integrated into the automated inspection technology on a real time base. It shows how the collected data can be analyzed with the SPC to provide process information. also presented are stuided of subpixel image processing technology to improve the accuracy of parts mearements , and the cumulative-sum(CUSUM) control chart for fraction defectives.An application of the developed system to connector manufacturing process as a part of computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) is presented.

  • In the recent manufacturing industry almost all sorts of activities tends to be digitized and networked to enhance the comprehensive efficiency of the enterprise. In that sense, enterprise informatization system as well as product information sharing system plays an important role, and those application systems are to be integrated in a smooth manner. In this paper, a prototype of an web-based product information sharing system is developed, which integrates information on technical documentation and parts information together. The prototype also integrates information on the implementation strategies for the enterprise informatization.
