Investigation of the Potential Risk for Musculoskeletal Disorders in Migrant Workers (외국인근로자의 근골격계질환 발생가능성에 관한 연구)

  • Korean domestic workers are trend to avoid harmful and dangerous jobs calls 3D work due to the poor working conditions. Therefore, the incoming population of foreign workers is increasing to fulfill the required labor force. Mostly these foreign workers are placed in small and medium-size industries. As work that induces musculoskeletal disorders(WMSD) is equally exposed to domestic workers as well as foreign workers, this study attempted to investigate the work burdened by musculoskeletal disorders and derive improvement measures by understanding the actual conditions of the worksites of foreign workers. The result of this investigation defines that the possibility of developing musculoskeletal disorders is very high in the environment in which more than 40% of the respondents work with heavy objects and repetitive work of wrists and elbows. To prevent the symptoms of musculoskeletal disorders among foreign workers, three measures were proposed. To reduce the mandatory check-up period of WMSD under the Occupational Safety and Health Act, to revise the employment permit system, and to enhance the practical help of EPS education. Safety and health management of foreign workers is becoming an essential task not only for securing a workforce but also for the national image. Personal and economic losses at the national level should be minimized through policy support such as financial support for small and medium-sized businesses in Korea and supplementation of legal systems for the protection of foreign workers.

  • Linking Ukraine's education system with the trends of global digitalization is mandatory to ensure the sustainable, long-term development of the country, as well as to increase the sustainability of the education system and the economy as a whole during the crisis period. Now the main problems of the education system in Ukraine are manifested in a complex context caused by Russian armed aggression. In the context of war, problems include differences in adaptation to online learning among educational institutions, limited access to education for vulnerable groups in the zone of active hostilities, the lack of digital educational resources suitable for online learning, and the lack of basic digital skills and competencies among students and teachers necessary to properly conduct online classes. Some of the problems of online learning were solved in the pandemic, but in the context of war Ukrainian society needs a new vision of education and continuous efforts of all social structures in the public and private environment. In the context of war, concerted action is needed to keep education on track and restore it in active zones, adapting to the needs of a dynamic society and an increasingly digitized economy. Among the urgent needs of the education system are a change in the teaching-learning paradigm, which is based on content presentation, memorization, and reproduction, and the adoption of a new, hybrid educational model that will encourage the development of necessary skills and abilities for students and learners in a digitized society and enable citizens close to war zones to learn.

  • In today's world, we find ourselves facing energy crises due to factors such as war and climate crises. To prepare for these energy crises, many researchers continue to study systems related to energy monitoring and conservation, such as energy management systems, energy monitoring, and energy conservation. In line with these efforts, nations are making it mandatory for energy-consuming facilities to implement these systems. However, these facilities, limited by space and energy constraints, are exploring ways to improve. This research explores the operation of a data collection system using low-performance embedded devices. In this context, it proves that an optimized version of RocksDB, a Key-Value store, outperforms traditional databases when it comes to time-series data. Furthermore, a comprehensive database evaluation tool was employed to assess various databases, including optimized RocksDB and regular RocksDB. In addition, heterogeneous databases and evaluations are conducted using a UD Benchmark tool to evaluate them. As a result, we were able to see that on devices with low performance, the time required was up to 11 times shorter than that of other databases.

  • Recently, mandatory BIM design has been enforced in the civil engineering field, focusing on public projects, and inducement measures to actively participate in BIM by participating subjects are required. The BIM ordering documents must reflect the characteristics of the BIM project, current construction standards and laws, and environmental conditions of domestic participants. In this study, we analyze the ordering documents used in domestic and overseas civil engineering BIM projects to determine whether they meet the purpose of BIM. In the future, items that consider the existing heterogeneous data linkage and compatibility, the connectivity with the current construction guidelines and laws, the cost of the designer and the input personnel are prepared for the part that does not meet the BIM purpose. Furthermore, the written order documents are verified through interviews with experts who have experience in BIM projects. Through the results of this study, I would like to propose a consultation system strategy to prepare and present items according to the purpose and type of project by client.

Survey on Contents of Sugars and Sodium in Bakery Products Sold at Bakeshops Located in Seoul Area (서울지역 제과.제빵점에서 판매되는 빵류와 과자류의 나트륨 및 당 함량 조사)

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the extent of total sugar and sodium in 129 different kinds of bakery products, breads and cookies, sold at bakeshops in Seoul metropolitan area. The bakery products produced by bakeshops on a small scale were not applied by clauses of mandatory nutrition label for children's taste food. All types of free sugars -fructose, glucose, sucrose, lactose and maltose- were detected in breads, but only fructose and sucrose were detected in cookies. The average amount of sucrose per 100 g of breads was 6.24 g, of cookies was 30.03 g. Breads and cookies amounting to 100 g of sample contained total sugar of 11.19 g and 30.38 g, respectively. The average amounts of sodium in breads and cookies were 120.71 mg/100 g, 70.76 mg/100 g, respectively. When the contents of total sugar in breads and cookies per one serving size were compared to WHO guidelines, the percentages were 15.7% and 18.2% about recommended daily intake of total sugar of 50 g. When it come to sodium, the bakery products had range of 1.1-6.5% to 2000 mg of daily intake of sodium recommended by WHO.

  • International Maritime Organization made International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea to require all ships to carry official charts, both paper and electronic, and is especially encouraging the use of Electronic chart display and information system (ECDIS). Recently, the argument that all Electronic Charts(ENC) displayed in ECDIS should be distributed through Regional ENC Coordinating Center is being raised within the IHO. The use of ECDIS was generalized, but the existing two RENCs in Europe are thought to be not enough. Especially, East Asian region, due to its rapid growth in economy and marine traffic, RENC is found necessary. This research establishes the legitimacy and strategy of East Asian RENC by defining the roles of RENC based on the IMO ECDIS Mandatory Carriage Requirement and RENC operation status through suggesting a "Phase-In" RENC model, which was built upon the strategy of East Asian Hydrographic Commission(EAHC).

A Study on the Effect of Designated Domestic Traffic Separation Scheme(TSS) -Focused on the Marine Casualty & the Marine Traffic Flow- (국내 통항분리수역 설치 효과에 관한 연구 -해양사고 및 해상교통흐름을 중심으로-)

  • The "ship's routeing" system was adopted by IMO and has been operated on the major sea routes of all over the world for the prevention of marine casualty and the improvement of marine traffic flow. Thereupon, also in Korea, the "Hong-do" and "Bogil-do" sea routes on southern coast were designated to mandatory sea area by traffic separation scheme(TSS) in 2003, and the "Geomun-do" sea route on southern coast was designated in 2005. But there were few or no studies on the effect of designated traffic separation scheme in Korea. For this reason, in this paper, we evaluated the contribution of traffic separation scheme to the prevention of marine casualty and the improvement of marine traffic flow after designation of domestic traffic separation scheme using data of the marine casualties and ship's tracks from AIS information. The results of evaluation showed that on the contrary, the cases of marine casualties were increased on some sea routes and regular traffic flows were disturbed by some vessels after designation of traffic separation scheme. For the safer and better sea routes, alternative ideas such as reposition of ship's routing on "Hong-do" and "Bogil-do" sea areas were suggested.

A Study on the Educational Efficacy of a Maritime English Learning and Testing Platform (해사영어학습 및 평가 플랫폼을 활용한 교육 효과에 대한 연구)

  • According to international regulations, it is mandatory for navigators or engineers to acquire suitable skillsets before their designation as a duty officer on board. One of the most important elements is Maritime English (ME), wherein students are taught a required set of basic skills that enable them to process various documents related to accidents, ship conditions, and inspections. Students have to be equipped not only with the use of general English skills but also with the coherent use of technical terms and phrases. However, due to the unique circumstances that exist in the maritime domain, the methods used for imparting maritime knowledge and the manner in which it is evaluated are restricted. Hence, this study aims to utilize an online Maritime English learning and testing platform that can be accessed on smart devices to analyze its impact on the students' learning process. An experiment was conducted on two groups of cadets, one that used the platform and another group that did not. After six-week, the experiment results showed a significant difference between the ME test scores of the two groups. The test scores were further analyzed by incorporating the students' personal elements to measure the ef icacy of the ME test platform. Therefore, the learning and evaluation processes are expected to be implemented in ways that are appropriate and convenient to specific circumstances and be widely used in the field of maritime education in the future.

제강분진을 이용한 침출수의 화학적 산화처리

  • 제철소에서 매년 대량 발생되어 주로 매립처분되고 있는 제강분진의 재활용 방안으로서, 폐수처리분야에 널리 사용되고 있는 펜톤산화공정의 반응촉매원인 Fe 공급원으로서 제강분 진의 활용 가능성에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 본 연구에서는 포항제철소에서 제철부산물로 발생되는 제강분진을 전처리 없이 산화촉매로 사용하여 김포 수도권 매립지의 침출수 처리 공정에서 펜톤산화조에 유입되는 원수를 대상으로 과산화수소에 의한 산화처리 실험을 수행하였다. 반응은 회분식으로 수행하였으며, 일반적으로 알려진 펜톤산화반응의 주요 반응조 건인 운전 pH, 과산화수소 주입량 및 분할주입, 제강분진의 주입량 등의 변화에 따른 각 조 건별 시간에 따른 반응결과를 알아보았다. 또한 기존의 Fe 공급원으로 사용되고 있는 FeSO$_4$와 처리성능 및 적용조건에 대한 비교 실험도 수행하였다. 침출수 수질변화는 TOC (Total Organic Carbon) analyzer를 사용하여 측정한 TOC값으로 나타냈으며, pH controller 와 정량펌프를 사용하여 HCl과 NaOH주입을 통해 반응기간동안 일정 pH를 유지하였다. 본 연구결과, 최적 pH 조건인 4에서 최대 75% TOC 제거율을 나타내었으며, 대부분의 반응은 30분 이내에 이루어졌다. 주어진 실험조건에서 FeSO$_4$와 비교하여 반응속도와 처리효율에서 향상된 결과를 나타내었으며 반응 후 응집침전실험에서도 보다 높은 처리효과를 얻을 수 있었다. 결론적으로, 과산화수소/제강분진 시스템을 이용한 화학적 산화처리방법은 경제성과 처리성능에서 기존의 펜톤산화공정의 대체방안으로서 향 후 적용가능성이 높을 것으로 기대된다.g, 200 mg/kg, 300 mg/kg의 순서로 함량이 점차 감소하는 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 이상의 결과를 종합하여 볼 때 가자 메탄올추출물은 PQ 유도독성을 신장 및 폐조직에서 효과적으로 경감시키는 것으로 나타났다.ted retailers ("sellers") must accept end-of-life items returned to them by the consumers. A Study on the Assessment of the Marine Traffic Congestion and the Improvement of a Technical Standards (해상교통혼잡도 평가현황 분석을 통한 진단기술기준 개선연구)

  • To prevent serious maritime accident and eliminate the cause of the potential maritime accidents, Maritime Safety Audit Scheme was formally institutionalized through amendment of Maritime Traffic Safety Act(May 27, '09). At the initial step of the enforcement of the law, it has risen the necessity of amending the present institution concerning with the range of applicable business, method of practice, detailed technical standards in the assessment articles, etc. Among them, the assessment of marine traffic congestion has been practiced as a mandatory assessment article, but it is analyzed that the assessment doesn't reflect current variation of ships' size and its speed. By analyzing the status of assessments on marine traffic congestion so far and collecting experts' opinion, this paper suggests draft amendments to improve technical standards on the assessment of marine traffic congestion.
