  • The speech recording of the National Archives of Korea contains very important traces which represent modern times of Korea. But the way to be recorded by analogue is easily contaminated as time goes by. So it has to be digitalized for management and services. Consequently, restoration method of distorted speech is needed. We propose the four classes for each distortion kind and apply restoration algorithms for the cases of speech level, stationary noise and abrupt noise. As a result, speech volume adjusts to -26 dBov for only on the speech region and SNR improves above 10dB. Especially, conventional way to remove the noise is almost impossible because we need to listen to all of them but it can be more effective by adaptation of auto restoration algorithm.

Records of Local Arts Organization are historical records showing the level and value of past and present local cultural arts, so systematic management and preservation is necessary. Also, since the records of Local Arts Organization are high in interest and demand of users, exhibition services are needed to show them effectively. Therefore, this study shows how to construct a Local Arts Organization based on CollectiveAccess, which is open software, to manage Local Arts Organization and provide exhibition services.

This paper try digital convergence to combine a domain specific technology with real time issue detection and grouping based on Web media. To derive core functionalities, we collect and analyze user requirements of national defense issue detection services. By utilizing linguistic resources specialized on national defence area and discovering features for measuring issue importance, we try to seek differentiation domain specific issue detection method. Finally we compare our detection results based on the development outputs of prototype.

  • Profound changes have occurred in the archival landscape since the advent of community archives and the global spread of archival art. This trend can be seen in Korea where a noticeable growth in archival arts and local community archives can be observed. This study explores how archival arts in Korea function when they are specifically intended to play a role in local community archiving. For this purpose, we analyzed the 'Gyeonggi archive_Now (2018)' and 'Seongbuk Documenta (2016-2018)' exhibitions, which were both exemplary cases of archival arts exhibited in connection with local community archives. Based on the analysis of the Gyeonggi Archive, which was aimed at strengthening the local identity of Gyeonggi Province, as well as the analysis of Seongbuk Documenta, which focused on the loss of place that resulted from redevelopment projects in the area of Seongbuk-gu, this study identifies the multiple roles of artists in archiving work. This study also reveals the variety of archiving works that exist and illuminates the value that such initiatives have in constructing local identity and reviving a sense of place. In particular, this research shows that archival art has the potential to empower local community archives while also providing opportunities to boost artistic creation. Our research concludes by highlighting the necessity of promoting the right environment and conditions that are required for archival arts if they are to play a role not only in keeping records and memories but also in producing further knowledge and discourse in a local community.

  • This study focuses on Yusam, a military raincoat that was worn during the Joseon Dynasty. The purpose of this study is to review the types and management system of Yusam. Documentary records, paintings and relics were used as research materials. Yusam was recorded as either Yusam(油衫) or Yu-ui(油衣) in writing. It usually looked like a skirt and was worn like a cape, but there were differences in length. Some of them took the form of a short coat with half-sleeves and side slits. Research analysis results of Silrok, Ilseongrok and the archives of the military camp in the later Joseon are as follows: First, Mokyusam and Jiyusam coexisted as military raincoats. Mokyusam was made with cotton and perilla oil, while Jiyusam was made with traditional Korean paper, a cotton edging and perilla oil. Second, the differences between general Yusam and military Yusam include the material of the clothing, the materials for waterproofing, the color, and the manufacturer. Third, each military camp supplied soldiers with hundreds to thousands of Yusam. Military officers and King's guards wore Mokyusam because Mokyusam was higher than Jiyusam. Fourth, soldiers Yusam together with Yujeongeon, Chorip, Galmo, or Hwihang as a hat. Fifth, the higher the rank, the higher the price of Yusam and the longer the term of usage. On the other hand, as the rank got higher, the cost of the supplementary oil rose, while the duration of usage got shorter.

  • The praying sentences of the script of Saddharmapundarika-sutra NO.5 which was made by prayer Bang-Ui, prince Ik-An, was investigated and the cover painting, Byonsangwha(Buddha's preaching painting), and letter style written in the script were discussed in this study. The cover painting on the script is known to be followed to the style of the cover painting as shown in a set of 7 rolls of Saddharma pundarika-sutra of the Horim Museum collection. It is not so difficult to say that the characteristics of cover painting of the script would be suceeded to those of scripts of the end of Koryo and the early Choseon Dynasty. Lotus and its surround was decorated with arabesque figure whose stems were drawn with golden paste and the arabesque figures were done with silver paste. However, for the expression of lotus and arabesque pattern the special feature of drawing style that was originated from the end of Koryo Dynasty to draw the outline with broad line and/or the hardness of drawing line became much more deepened than ever. It is not different to think that this characteristics should be those of Choseon Dynasty. On the Byeonsangwha(buddha's preaching painting) the painting of scattered flowers on stairs of Sumera-Mandala and the scheduled clouds (underseen from heaven) were as similar as to the Byeonsangwha style of the end of Koryo and the early Choseon Dynasty. However, the image of Shakyamuni and/or the halo(光背) is nearly same as the characteristics shown on the Beonsangwha of Saddharma pundarika-sutra of Nesosa' collection, a set of seven rolls which was completed in the 15th year of king Taejong(AD 1415). It is apparent that these characteristics are those of Choseon Dynasty. After king Chungsean in Koryo Dynasty, letter style of Chao Meng-Fu was shown in the script of late Koryo Dynasty as a new letter style.

  • This study is about the paper of Mulberry(桑紙). The paper which was usually applied to the ancient bookpaper and documents. But there is a rare record about it today. So the paper was made from the Mulberry(뽕나무) bast fiber using traditional handcraft method. and Paper Mulberry(닥나무) by traditional method. And tested by physical and optical methods in comparisons with Paper Mulberry(닥나무). The ratio of length/width of Mulberry fiber was 475, and its lignin content was lower than the Paper Mulberry. The Mulberry paper had similar forming properties and physical strength to the Paper Mulberry fiber. Therefore, the Mulberry fiber seem to be a good paper fiber for traditional paper. For the aging test, in the thermal acceleration treatment for 72 hours and 144 hours at the temperature of $105^{\circ}C$ incubator, the Mulberry paper was more deteriorative than the Paper Mulberry. In the ultraviolet acceleration treatment for 100 hours and 200 hours the Mulberry paper was less interior to the Paper Mullberry, in the increase of treatment time. And the Mulberry paper was approved to be a good traditional paper in appearance. Furthumore, in considing the sample of bred Mulberry species grown today, its paper is thought to be superio to the paper of Paper Mulberry in symptom of senility in natural ultraviolet light.
