  • It is aimed at providing a guide for effective ERP implementation strategy in view of the need for differentiation and cost advantage strategy from competitors in introducing ERP centered on SMEs. The results show that differentiation and cost superiority and service quality are dependent on the introduction performance and mediating effect. First, the differentiation or cost advantage strategy supports the previous research results in financial performance. However, in the differentiation strategies, only the non-financial aspects were noted. Second, the differentiation and cost advantage strategy were analyzed to have financial performance only in the assurance of service quality factor and the remaining service quality was not significant in the introduction performance. Third, the mediating effect of consulting service quality was analyzed in terms of differentiation or cost advantage Did not do it. In conclusion, system construction is different from financial perspective in terms of construction strategy. In service quality factor, it affects the confidence that supplier provides, knowledge and confidence, and ability to give faith.

  • Purpose: This paper study the effect of the quality management on the performance among the manufacturing companies awarding the Korean National Quality Award(NQA). Methods: The data for 34 manufacturing companies are surveyed by the 7-point Likert scale and empirically tested. Results: Even among the companies awarding NQA for their excellent quality management level there are significant differences in their performance by their quality management levels. In particular, leadership and human resources categories have greater impacts on the performance. Conclusion: Even though the company awarded NQA(KQMA: Korean Quality Management Award) for its excellent quality management level, it is necessary to improve the quality management level continuously. This result supports the necessity of KQGA(Korean Quality Grand Award) which is awarded for the companies which improve quality management levels significantly after awarding KQMA.

  • This paper investigates the relationship of service quality and user satisfaction in the wired and mobile Internet services based on the integrative framework of both systems. Given a moderate level of reliability and validity, the commonly driven dimensions for measuring service quality include responsiveness, assurance, empathy, convenience, usefulness, and diversity. User satisfaction is measurable by the dimensions of communication/entertainment, finance/economics, location/geography, and information/consulting. We apply the MANOVA tests to evaluate whether each of the service quality dimensions has an overall influence on user satisfaction. Next, multiple regression analyses are conducted to check if unique positive effect exists between each combination of service quality dimensions and user satisfaction dimensions. The results show that service quality must be taken care of with respect to the assurance dimension in order to enhance customer satisfaction in the dimensions of location/geography, which will contribute to increasing the utilization of mobile service. For improving user satisfaction in the dimension of information/consulting, service quality must be supported with respect to assurance and empathy in the mobile Internet market, in addition to diversity, which is the only significant service quality in the wired Internet service.

  • Attempts were made to increase an efficiency of soil contamination investigation systems (SCISs) including Soil Network and Special Soil Contamination Management Facility Sites in Korea. In order to increase low efficiencies resulting from inappropriate SCISs, possible policy suggestions are driven based on the results from problem findings of Korean policy and comparisons of policies on industrialized countries including United States, United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands and Japan. First, functions of Soil Environment Conservation Act (SECA) on liability should be updated and reinforced to initiate a soil contamination investigation process for stakeholders including an owner(s) or a responsible party(ies) of the potentially soil contamination sites positively. Second, appropriate SCISs should be emerged for implementing the Soil Network and Special Soil Contamination Management Facility Sites properly. Stakeholders for the potentially contaminated sites should easily access and raise the soil contamination issues, and soil contamination investigation implemented by liable and profit environment (consulting) companies should be encouraged. Third, the soil contamination reporting system of SECA needs to change legally responsible. Further more, public announcement system showing soil quality of a site which exceeds a certain scale would be considerable. Fourth, liable environment (consulting) companies should legally execute Soil Environment Assessment of SECA.

  • With the proliferation of WWW, providing more intelligence to Web sites has become a major concern in e-business industry. In recent days, this trend is more accelerated by prosperity of CRM (Customer Relationship Management) in terms of various aspects such as product recommendation, self after service, etc. To accomplish this goal, many e-companies are eager to embed web enabled rule-based system, that is, expert systems into their Web sites and several well-known commercial tools are already available in the market. Most of those tools are developed based on CGI so far but CGI based systems inherently suffer over-burden problem when there are too many service demands at the same time due to the nature of CGI. To overcome this limitation of the existing CGI based expert systems, we propose a new form of Web-enabled expert system using hyperlink-based inference mechanism. In terms of burden to Web server, our approach is proven to outperform CGI based approach theoretically and also empirically. For practical purpose, our this approach is implemented in a software system, WeBIS and a graphic rule editing methodology, Expert Diagram is incorporated into the system to facilitates rule generation and maintenance. WeBIS is now successfully operated for financial consulting in the web site of a leading financial consulting company in Korea.

  • Purpose: In the course of the domestic environmental impact assessment, the current status survey was improperly conducted, and the issue of false and inaccurate environmental impact assessment reports has been raised several times recently through media reports. Research design, data and methodology: There is a continuous demand for improvement measures for the current status measurement method, such as having difficulties in securing a normal measurement date in consideration of equipment operation and rainfall days in the field. Results: In addition, in order to grasp the general air quality status of the evaluation target area, it is necessary to check the various current status concentrations by season and time series per year. However, there is a problem that is currently being carried out based on limited results such as measurement for 1 day or 3 days. Conclusions: Therefore, in this study, based on the national atmospheric measurement network, an inverse distance weighted (IDW) interpolation method was applied to calculate the current state concentration. This study suggested a method to use it in preparing the air quality item in the environmental impact assessment report.

  • Although retailers deals with a large number of single-term inventory items, but few cases have been considered in the areas of practical decision making. However, recent moves to strengthen fair trade have created a real need for single-period inventory decision-making problems. This study addresses the problem of ordering quantity decisions that are expected to maximize profits using classical newsvendor models. The research target is data on seasonal and perishable products from retail. We also use data from retailers to actually apply the newsvendor model and calculate the results to compare performance. It also suggests solutions for estimating demand for products sold in order to apply newsvendor models that utilize actual demand ratio versus forecast demand. This study would like to examine the effectiveness of this research through data analysis and make some suggestions for applying it to reality.

  • Low-frequency geological natural disaster events such as Pohang earthquake have been occurred. As a results, there's a growing recognition on the importance of education and training for low frequency geological disasters in Korea. In spite of many years of scientific researches on volcanic disaster prevention and preparedness on Baekdusan volcano, the results do not provide the proper scenario for the training for volcanic ash event. Fall 3D volcanic ash diffusion model was run based on wind field data for the last five year, assuming Aso Mountain's explosion with volcanic explosion index 5 for seventy two hours. The management criteria values for proper actions in the previous studies were applied to make a scenario for thirteen groups of the disaster response teams such as train transportation, water supply, electrical facilities and human health. The models on the relationship between education and training for disaster prevention and response were suggested to fulfill the scientific and practical training at local level.
