Evaluation of the Effectiveness and the Level of Self-Management Support on the Metabolic Syndrome Management Program at Public Health Centers in Seoul Metropolitan City (서울시 보건소 대사증후군관리사업의 효과와 자가관리 지원수준 평가)

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness and the level of self-management support on the Metabolic Syndrome Management Program at public health centers in Seoul metropolitan city. Methods: The effectiveness on the Metabolic Syndrome Management Program were analyzed using secondary data from 1,312 community residents who were receiving program. The level of self-management support on Metabolic Syndrome Management Program was evaluated using an 'Assessment of Primary Care Resources and Supports for Chronic Disease Self-Management' from four public health centers. Results: The effectiveness on the Metabolic Syndrome Management Program was showed that decreased smoking (p= 0.044) and drinking (p< 0.001), and increased healthy dietary habit (p< 0.001) in health behaviors. It was showed that decreased triglyceride (p= 0.002) and increased high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (p< 0.001) in clinical indicators. The level of self-management support on Metabolic Syndrome Management Program was 98.1 points and it meaned that implementation is done in an organized and consistent manner using a team approach. There was difference in the level of self-management support by public health centers (p= 0.003). Conclusion: The Metabolic Syndrome Management Program in public health centers was effective, and level of self-management support was done as organizational level, but patient input and mental health were insufficient.

  • SE generally defines approaching ways of conducting identification, verification and integration of an optimized product and process solution to meet customer's needs by leveraging organizational competency in engineering and management. To successfully develop a new product under mass production contract, it is important to efficiently carry out the program by ensuring that three major competencies are secured; core technology, system integration, and program management. For successful implementation of tasks in the three areas, systematic execution is called for, which requires identifying risk factors in advance. In particular, comprehensive risk management role and responsibility is required for program management. Success of a development program is determined by complex elements of human resources, organization culture, and overall competency of an organization in technology and program management, including capability of the program manager. In this paper, a risk management solution is suggested to lead a program to success with a more efficient way through actual risk management by the concept of SE around the above three areas.

A Study on the Needs for Housewives' Educational Program (주부교육프로그램에 대한 요구도 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the housewives' needs for educational program. In this study the needs lot housewives educational program are consisted on 3 areas ; 1. program contents, 2. program management and 3. program activization plan. For the survey and statistical analysis the questionares from 445 full-time housewives who participate in educational program at present are used. The results of this study are following; 1, in the area of program contents the needs for housing/health, nutrition, family life planning for elderly stage and enhancement of parents-children relationship are very high. This contents are very related with research topics of human ecology. So the researcher of our science are expected to be involved more in the related program development and actualization in the field. 2. in the area of program management the needs for the concret management process such as human resource management and education period are much higher than the educational provision. 3. in the area of program activization the systematization of the program incording with program level is most needed. 4. the housewive who are keeping the social characteristics such as social orientation, the motivation of social integration, the participation in the social-oriented educational program have higher needs for the most entire program contents, management and activization plan.

  • Program management is a concept to deal with huge and complex business activities from social, economical, cultural and environmental points of view and increase their value for client and society. The aim of this study is to establish a framework of program management process and develop a supporting system for program management. In this paper we propose a framework and a proto type supporting system based on case studies and report the result of application to an urban redevelopment using partially implemented software.

Study on the Dietetic Internship Program of Catering Company (일부 급식 서비스 기업의 인턴 교육 프로그램에 관한 연구)

  • The purposes of this research were to examine the effect of the catering company's dietetic internship program through a self-evaluating ability test about management performance between pre and post internship programs and consequently to suggest improvement in the internship program. In this study, two types of questionnaires were conducted in July and October 2006, targeting 41 dietetic interns who trained in a 6 months internship program. Except the 4 dropped interns, data from 37 interns were collected and used for statistical analysis, using the SPSS Win 11.0 version. The results of this study were as follows: First of all, the analysis on the effect of the internship program according to classified management segments showed significant improvements in the following order: purchase management (p<0.001), computer program management (p<0.001), facilities management (p<0.001), accounting management (p<0.01), personnel management (p<0.01), retention management (p<0.01), sanitation management (p<0.01), service management (p<0.01) and foodservice management (p<0.01). However, there was no significantly improvement in management of clients. Secondly, the result of the analysis on the details of each management segment that were significant improvement and changing score was the top 5 duties were as follows: In the purchase management, the score of weekly and daily order management was increased 1.0 (p<0.001), the score of weekly inventory management was 0.81 (p<0.001). In the computation office management, expenses handling through a computer program was 0.65 (p<0.01). In the personnel management, the score of work schedule management increased 0.81 (p<0.001). In the accounting management, the score of monthly profit and loss account management was 0.65 (p<0.001). Furthermore, qualified educational programs connected with the internship program will have to be systematically developed and continually carried out in order to improve service and management abilities of branch managers.

Development and Evaluation of Financial Management Education Program for College Students (대학생을 위한 재무관리교육 프로그램 개발 및 평가)

  • The purpose of this study were to develop a financial management educational program for college students and to evaluate the effect of this program. In order to achieve this aims, a fundamental work to select the educational contents was preceded with a survey of learners' needs, preceding studies. After choice of educational contents, learners' demands on how to manage the educational program was executed in advance. The participants in this study were 500 students, resulting in 460 with usable data. Second, reflection the above mentioned educational contents, a concrete financial management educational program was built. This program consists of 9 domains: financial planning, careers and income, consumer spending, credit use and Credit cards, Managing Taxes, investment planning, risk management and insurance, retirement and estate planning, contribution. The participants for this program implementation were 68 students. Third, to evaluate the effects of the financial management educational program, paired t-test was conducted in using the SPSS package. The result suggested that financial management educational program has a positive effect on financial knowledge, financial attitude and financial management behavior. Several implications based on the findings were suggested.

  • The purposes of this research were to understand the realities of health management and to analyze the subjective, functional, psychological, and social health effects of the application of an exercise and education program to manage health on an elderly population residing in an agricultural community. The specific purposes of this research were: 1. to determine the subjective, functional, psychological health conditions, and performance level of instrumental activities of daily living of both the experimental and control groups before introducing a health management program, and then 2. to compare these with both the experimental and control groups' subjective, functional, psychological health condition and performance level of instrumental activities of daily living after applying the health management program. The health management program was introduced to the experimental group (50 people) but not to the control group (50 people). The health management program was composed of a health exercise program and a health education program. A comparative study of subjective health conditions was done to examine the effect of the health management program and the characteristics of health related variables before and after the program application.   • The Korean Government has recently been pushing ahead with a variety of programs to support regional innovation. This paper examines whether the variety of regional innovation programs of the government are efficiently managed and effectively functioning in regions. To make the assessment, questionnaire surveys were executed targeting innovation actors in fourteen regions and evaluated the efficiency of government regional programs. Key points of assessment were the appropriateness of the program organization and the efficiency of program management for the effectiveness of program results. It was found that the appropriateness of the program organization and the efficiency of program management were related positively to performance of programs, but the performance of regional innovation programs overall was not high. Some problems were found in program organization and program management such as the overlapping of program objectives and functions, the inadequate synergy among programs, insufficient reflection of the needs of industry in planning, the overlapping investment in facilities and equipment, and low effectiveness of evaluation.

  • In 2006, Korean Government decided to relocate the several Government bodies and public institutes. They include total of 49 central Government agencies, semi-government agencies, and 17 national research institutes. The completion of the relocation program has been set to be final in 2030. The target population for the city plan is set to be 500,000. The goal of MAC is first to complete the first phase of the program by 2014 within the budget. In order to achieve the goal, considerable time has been spent to properly establish the program management system. The success of MAC's Multi-function Program Administration System is too early to determine as it is still in progressive. The success depends on the operations not the development.

  • This paper proposes a management system for the educational program of production managers on the basis of value co-creation by the learner and the instructor. The program combines an intelligent knowledge-based approach with the kaizen activity program. The program helps individuals acquire knowledge and skills to ensure the total rather than the partial optimization of processes and operations facilitating continuous improvement in the workplace. To achieve these goals, the program uses models of a learning process and a swing of enlightenment. In addition, the program is supported by a framework of academic, business people, consultants, and government officers. The program was developed using an instructional design approach. This paper discusses the process of developing and managing the educational program between 2006 and 2012 as well as the results obtained.
