A vision-based robotic assembly system

  • In this paper, design and development experiences of a vision based robotic assembly system for electronic components are described. Specifically, the overall system consists of the following three subsystems each of which employs a 16 bit Preprocessor MC 68000 : supervisory controller, real-time vision system, and servo system. The three microprocessors are interconnected using the time shared common memory bus structure with hardwired bus arbitration scheme and operated as a master-slave type in which each slave is functionally fixed in view of software. With this system architecture, the followings are developed and implemented in this research; (i) the system programming language, called 'CLRC', for man-machine interface including the robot motion and vision primitives, (ii) real-time vision system using hardwired chain coder, (iii) the high-precision servo techniques for high speed de motors and high speed stepping motors. The proposed control system were implemented and tested in real-time successfully.

  • 배전급 전력케이블의 장기수명특성 평가를 위한 기초자료를 확보하기 위해 고창 배전 실증시험장내에 장기열화시험을 수행할 수 있는 실증시험설비가 구축되었다. 이 설비를 안전하고 효과적으로 관리 운영하기 위해 원격감시제어기능, 자동운전기능 및 열화데이터의 효과적이 처리기능이 포함된 장기열화설비 자동화시스템의 구축이 필요하였다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 새롭게 개정된 한전 표준구매규격과 참고규격인 개정판 AEIC CS5 규격에 맞게 구축된 배전급 전력케이블 장기 열화시험설비를 원격감시제어, 자동운전 및 열화 데이터의 저장 및 처리가 가능한 전력케이블 장기열화설비 자동화시스템의 하드웨어 구성 및 MMI (Man-Machine Interface)화면의 구성방안에 대하여 기술하였다. 본 자동화시스템을 이용해 기존의 간이 차수형 CNCV케이블의 AEIC규격 수트리시험을 안전하게 수행하였다.

Implementation of a control system for a telerobot using DSP (DSP를 이용한 원격 로봇의 제어 시스템 구현)

  • A high speed control system for a telerobot using DSP is developed. The system is designed to resolve computational burden in advanced algorithms. The design is assumed to h ave no specific algorithm and robot configuration. The system is composed of a teaching box, a DSP board, a set of servo drivers and 16 bit microcomputer system. The teaching box is designed as a man-machine interface, which has two joysticks with three degrees of freedom for velocity generation in Cartesian space. The DSP board, i.e. DSP56000ADS based on a 10.25MIPS digital signal processor, DSP56001, computes the inverse Jacobian matrix which transforms Cartesian velocity into joint velocity. A resolved motion rate control algorithm for a 5 degrees of freedom manipulator was implemented. About 100 Hz sampling rate was achieved in this system.

  • Human Factors Engineering(HFE) program should be developed from the early stage of the design process for Nuclear Power Plant. The HFE program is conducted in accordance with the guidance in the Standard Review Plan(SRP) NUREG 0800, Chapter 18. The major purpose of this program is to reduce the incidence of human error during the operating life of the plants. A comprehensive human factors program is prepared by KOPEC to assure that key elements of human factors involvement are not inadvertently overlooked and the early, complete, and continuing inclusion of HFE in the design process. This paper is to introduce engineering steps of the HF activities to verify that the HF involvements on man-machine interface are adequate to support safe and efficient operation of nuclear power plant. If systems are developed without sufficient consideration on the HFE in the design, such systems may cost a high price due to the malfunction of the plant induced by the human errors.

  • 고속 주행중인 자동차 환경에서 운전자의 안전 및 편의성을 위하여, 음성인식 기술을 이용한 각종 차량 편의장치를 제어하는 것으로, 운전자와 자동차와의 Man Machine Interface 구조로 구성되었다. 이 시스템은 주행중인 자동차 환경에서 보조적인 스위치의 조작없이 상시 음성의 입, 출력이 가능하도록 하며, band pass filter를 이용하여 잡음 환경에 강인한 모델을 선택하도록 하였으며, 음성의 특징 파라미터와 인식 알고리즘은 perceptual linear predictive 13차와 one-stage dynamic programming을 사용하였다. off-line 실험 결과 고속 주행중인 자동차 환경에서 자주 사용하는 차량제어 명령 33개에 대하여 화자독립 82.47%(중부고속도로), 화자종속 94.44%의 인식율을 구하였다. 또한 고속 주행중인 차량에서 kvhs, 핸드폰 사용으로 인한 사고를 줄이기 위하여 음성으로 전화를 걸 수 있도록 하는 Voice Dialing기능도 구현하였다.

  • In the conventional systems, a human must have knowledge of machines and of their special language in communicating with machines. In one side, it is desirable for a human but in another side, it is true that achieving it is very elaborate and is also a significant cause of human error. To reduce this sort of human load, an intelligent man-machine interface is desirable to exist between a human operator and machines to be operated. In the ordinary human communication, not only linguistic information but also visual information is effective, compensating for each others defect. From this viewpoint, problem of translating verbal expressions to some visual image is discussed here in this paper. The location relation between any two objects in a visual scene is a key in translating verbal information to visual information, as is the case in Fig.l. The present translation system advances in knowledge with experience. It consists of Japanese Language processing, image processing, and Japanese-scene translation functions.

  • 전 규모에서 소규모에 이르는 MMIS(Man Machine Interface System) 모사설비는 실제의 원자력발전소에 사용될 MMIS를 응용 소프트웨어로 구동되는 모사환경을 통하여 사전에 시험 및 검증할 목적으로 사용된다. 기존의 MMIS 모사설비 개발은 잘 정의된 개발 프로세스에 기반을 두지 않고 프로젝트 관리자 또는 개발 담당자의 경험과 직관에 의존하여 수행되었다. 이로 인하여 MMIS 모사설비의 개발 일정이 지연되거나 개발의 결과가 초기목표를 만족하지 못하는 불만족 사항이 나타났다. 본 연구는 MMIS 모사설비의 응용 소프트웨어 개발을 위한 프로세스를 정의하고 이에 따라 설비개발을 진행하였다. 개발 프로세서는 계획 단계, 설계 및 구현단계, 시험단계의 세 부분으로 구성하였다. 본 논문에서는 MMIS 모사설비에 요구되는 일반적인 성능특성요건과 개발공정요건을 살펴보고, 본 연구가 정립한 응용 소프트웨어 개발의 프로세스 및 각 프로세서에서의 공정활동을 제시한다.

  • DAS(Data Acquisition System) as a ground support equipment has played a critical role in proving the status of ready-to-fire of a rocket system before launch. But it is hard to implement and place a real-time measuring system in a control room at a long distance from the vehicle. In this paper DAS is introduced by being located at the LEC(Launch Equipment Container)[1], 50 meters away from the rocket and connected to remote monitoring system via fiber optics with TCP/IP protocol by means of client/server algorithm. Therefore real-time data acquisition and storage are guaranteed and a convenient and useful MMI (Man-Machine Interface) can be developed.

An Implementatin of a Multi-Channel Speech Surveillance System Over Telephone Lines

  • This paper presents an implementation of a multi-channel speech surveillance system over telephone lines using TMS320C31 DSP chips. The incoming speech into each telephone line are first compressed simultaneously in real-time by the popular vector-sum excited linear predictive (VSELP) speech coding algorithm at the rate of 8 Kbps. The compressed steech bit streams are then multiplexed with those of other users. The multiplexed speech bit streams are transferred to the system storage equipments with some other required information so that a system operator can later monitor the stored speech data whenever it is necessary. The host program runs under Microsoft Windows95 for an efficient man-machine interface and a future upgrade-ability. We have confirmed that the overall 64-channel system operates satisfactorily in realtime. We also have checked approximately up to 2,880 total hours of recording capability of the system on a playback module and two removable backup drives.

  • A electric power conversion system in a pumped storage power plant is important equipment for converting electric motor kinetic energy into electric power. A electric power conversion monitoring system consists of high voltage thyristor firing equipment, fault detection module, data gathering module, real time data processing equipment and man machine interface system. This paper describes electric power conversion system overview, the developed SFC monitoring system configuration including system characteristics, and successful application result to San-Cheong pumped storage power plant.
