  • As the Internet usage with web browser is more increasing, the web-based malware which is distributed in websites is going to more serious problem than ever. The central type malicious website detection method based on crawling has the problem that the cost of detection is increasing geometrically if the crawling level is lowered more. In this paper, we proposed a security tool based on web browser which can detect the malicious web pages dynamically and support user's safe web browsing by stopping navigation to a certain malicious URL injected to those web pages. By applying these tools with many distributed web browser users, all those users get to participate in malicious website detection and feedback. As a result, we can detect the lower link level of websites distributed and dynamically.

  • Java applets are downloaded from web server through internet and executed in Java Virtual Machine of clients' browser. Before execution of java applets, JVM checks bytecode program with bytecode verifier and performs runtime tests with interpreter. However, these tests will not protect against undesirable runtime behavior of java applets, such as denial of service attack, email forging attack, URL spoofing attack, and annoying sound attack. In order to protect malicious applets, a technique used in this paper is java bytecode modification. This technique is used to restrict applet behavior or insert code appropriate to profiling or other monitoring efforts. Java byte modification is divided into two general forms, class-level modification involving subclassing non-final classes and method-level modification used when control over objects from final classes or interface. This paper showed that malicious applets are controlled by java bytecode modification using proxy server. This implementation does not require any changes in the web sever, JVM or web browser.

  • XSS is an attacker on the other party of the browser that is allowed to run the script. It is seized session of the users, or web site modulation, malicious content insertion, and phishing attack which is available. XSS attacks are stored XSS and reflected XSS. In that, two branch attacks. The form of XSS attacks are cookie sniffing, script encryption, bypass, the malignant cord diffusion, Key Logger, Mouse Sniffer, and addition of lie information addition. XSS attacks are target of attack by script language. Therefore, the countermeasure of XSS is presented and proposed to improve web security.

  • The phishing attack is a malicious emerging threat on the internet where the hackers try to access the user credentials such as login information or Internet banking details through pirated websites. Using that information, they get into the original website and try to modify or steal the information. The problem with traditional defense systems like firewalls is that they can only stop certain types of attacks because they rely on a fixed set of principles to do so. As a result, the model needs a client-side defense mechanism that can learn potential attack vectors to detect and prevent not only the known but also unknown types of assault. Feature selection plays a key role in machine learning by selecting only the required features by eliminating the irrelevant ones from the real-time dataset. The proposed model uses Hyperparameter Optimized Artificial Neural Networks (H-ANN) combined with a Hybrid Firefly and Grey Wolf Optimization algorithm (H-FFGWO) to detect and block phishing websites in Internet of Things(IoT) Applications. In this paper, the H-FFGWO is used for the feature selection from phishing datasets ISCX-URL, Open Phish, UCI machine-learning repository, Mendeley website dataset and Phish tank. The results showed that the proposed model had an accuracy of 98.07%, a recall of 98.04%, a precision of 98.43%, and an F1-Score of 98.24%.

  • They are rapidly evolving malicious attacks on smart devices, and to timely protect the smart devices from these attacks has become a very important issue. In particular, smishing attack has emerged as one of the most important threats on the smartphone. In this paper, we propose the cloud service that can fundamentally protect the user from the risk of smishing attack. The proposed scheme provides cloud messaging service that can filter text messages including URLs in the user's smart device, view and manage them through a virtual machine provided by a cloud server. The existing techniques for preventing smshing attacks protect only malicious code of a known pattern and there is the possibility of error such as FP(False Positive) or FN(False Negative). However, since the proposed method automatically filters all text messages including URLs, storing, viewing, and managing them in their own storage space on the cloud server, it can completely block the installation of malwares(malicious codes) on the user's smart device through smishing attacks.

  • Despite the convenience brought by the advances in web and Internet technology, users are increasingly being exposed to the danger of various types of cyber attacks. In particular, recent studies have shown that today's cyber attacks usually occur on the web via malware distribution and the stealing of personal information. A drive-by download is a kind of web-based attack for malware distribution. Researchers have proposed various methods for detecting a drive-by download attack effectively. However, existing methods have limitations against recent evasion techniques, including JavaScript obfuscation, hiding, and dynamic code evaluation. In this paper, we propose an emulation-based malicious webpage detection method. Based on our study on the limitations of the existing methods and the state-of-the-art evasion techniques, we will introduce four features that can detect malware distribution networks and we applied them to the proposed method. Our performance evaluation using a URL scan engine provided by VirusTotal shows that the proposed method detects malicious webpages more precisely than existing solutions.

  • Smartphones have all the recent technology integration and NFC (Near Field Communication) Technology is one of them and become an essential these days. Despite using smartphones with NFC technology widely, not many security vulnerabilities have been discovered. This paper attempts to identify characteristics and various services in NFC technology, and to present a wide range of security vulnerabilities, prevention, and policies especially in NFC Contactless technology. We describe a security vulnerability and an possible threat based on human vulnerability and traditional malware distribution technic using Peer-to-Peer network on NFC-Enabled smartphones. The vulnerability is as follows: An attacker creates a NFC tag for distributing his or her malicious code to unspecified individuals and apply to hidden spot near by NFC reader in public transport like subway system. The tag will direct smartphone users to a certain website and automatically downloads malicious codes into their smartphones. The infected devices actually help to spread malicious code using P2P mode and finally as traditional DDoS attack, a certain target will be attacked by them at scheduled time.
