  • This study focuses on observing the brain function characteristics of maladaptive soldiers, through EEG analysis. The number of subjects was 1,119 including 59 maladaptive soldiers, 60 normal soldiers and 1,000 civil youths. The EEG measurements were performed from Sep. 2013 to Jan. 2014. As a result of the study, first, the soldier group's BRQ, ATQ, EQ, ASQ and BQ values were significantly higher than civil youth's, on the contrary to SRQ, ACQ, CQ which were higher in civil youth group. Second, compared to normal soldiers, the values of EQ and BQ were meaningfully low in maladaptive soldiers group, as well as the average values of each 8 quotient. In conclusion, military service can be assumed to have a positive effect on brain function of all soldiers due to regular life cycle, usual physical activities and balanced nutrition, but less effect on maladaptive soldiers who are exempted from those strict life.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness that group counselling by transactional analysis influence on personal competence and communication for maladaptive soldier. 8 participants were assigned to an experimental group and pre and post test was performed. Experimental group were given group counselling program by Transactional Analysis(TA) sessions during 4day, which one session offered for 240 minutes' 8 hour a day. To verify the effectiveness of the group counselling Wilcoxon Matched-Pairs Signed-Ranks Test was performed. The result revealed that group counselling by transactional analysis positively influence on personal competence(self-efficacy, positive character) for maladaptive soldier. This study has a meaning and great achievements to present the possibility of using this program in practical and clinical field, which significant improvement in personal competence, self-efficacy, positive character.

  • The correlation between the Military Service Adaptation Test and the Biometric Index is studied herein with the aim of preventing military safety accidents. The subjects were 36 soldiers under the age of 25 years. Based on the results of the service adaptation test, the soldiers who did not adapt to the service were distinguished. First, there was a significant difference in brain stress among the brain wave indicators of the general group and the group of interest. Second, the higher the left and right brain imbalance index among the brain wave indicators, the higher was the level of empathy shown by the subjects. Third, among the pulse indicators, the subjects with high cumulative fatigue levels were found to have high levels of emotion (anxiety, depression, physicalization) and relationship isolation (indifference, sensitivity). Based on these results, the implications of this study and suggestions for future research are discussed.

  • Recently the military is improving the policies of military culture for soldiers to lead a better military life. In this effect, 'division A' introduced 'goal-directed self development program'. This program is guiding the soldiers to set up personal mission in life not only in the military but also linked to the future, after being discharged from military service. Therefore the purpose of this research is to test the effect of this program on soldier's objective management, self esteem and satisfaction and to propose political strategies for creating healthier military culture. The research method was to compare and analyze the difference between two groups, 'division A'(experimental group), which operated the program, and 'division B'(controlled group) which did not operated the program. research targets were 488 soldiers in total, 257 soldiers in experimental group and 231 in controlled group. T-test(verification) and analysis of covariance was done with SPSS WIN 11.5 program with collected information. The result showed that the program has meaningful effect in every aspect mentioned above to the soldiers.
