정조시대와 에도시대(江戶時代)의 화장문화(化粧文化)와 수발문화(鬚髮文化)의 비교 연구 (Comparative Study of Make-up and Hair Styling Cultures of the King Jeongjo and the Edo Period)

  • In the Edo period speaking of hair culture, common women wore decorative pigtail ribbons on the right, and twisted from side to side their tressed hair in such a manner as ungeunmeori and traemeori. Instead of gachae, common women used gogae made of their own hair, ungeunmeori on forehead, or jjokjinmeori at the back of head. During the Edo period, people women naturally exposed their necklines as a way of exposing their faces in the aesthetically ceremonial act of wearing make-up. As for lipsticks, they rouged extracts from red petals of safflowers mainly on their lips, and sometimes on their cheeks by blending this with white powder. Samurai families disliked women who wore thick lip makeup. In the latter period, women painted their necklines or foreheads black, applied a small amount of rouge on their cheeks thinly or thickly, and colored a reddish color into their fingernails by using petals and leaves of balsam flowers. Despite the chronological and spatial proximity of the King Jeongjo period and the Edo period, it was found that there were no similarities between two countries' cosmetic cultures. Moreover, it was discovered that current TV dramas were being produced, even not based on historical evidence in the Jeongjo period.

대구 매일신문에 나타난 복식현상에 관한 연구(III) -1946년 이후의 악세사리, 피부미용 및 머리모양을 중심으로- (A Study on Costume Reported in the "Maeil Shinmun" (III) - Focused on Accessories, Skin Care and Hair Style -)

  • This study the changing aspects in accessories, skin care and hair style in 「Maeil Shinmun」 from Jan. 1, 1946 to Dec. 31, 2000, and the results are as follows. In the period of 1946 to 1959, articles were about how to select accessories and the role of skin-protection cosmetics for skin care, and the cases of people wearing color makeup in pursuit of beauty increased. The hairstyle trend began to gradually shift from long hair toward short. During the time of 1960 to 1969, how to select accessories an also how to match them with clothes were dealt with in articles, and how to massage face or use pack for healthy skin was introduce. From 1970 to 1979, as the number of working women increased, proper use of accessories according to each occasion was introduced, and, for hairstyle, the way to keep their hair healthy and shine, rather than a fashion of its style itself, was emphasized. In 1980∼1989, as casual wear became so popular worldwide and a variety of way to use shoes, mufflers, scarfs, shawls, and hats to go with it were highlighted, practical fashion got in vogue and use of accessories with which individuality can be expressed in a simple way prevailed. During the time of1990 to 2000, the trend changed to the pursuit of chic using accessories that reveal wearers'individuality, and especially came the boom of charming schools and makeup lesson for skin care. The prominent trend was that men and women of the new generation expressed their individuality by having their hair partly dyed or fully dyed in various colors and tried to resemble famous entertainers. In particular, as people get more and more interested in body shape, various ways to take care of body were introduced, such as body care products and aroma treatments.

빛의 반사량 측정을 통한 가면 착용 위변조 얼굴 검출 (Albedo Based Fake Face Detection)

  • 특수 분장을 이용하여 매우 정교하게 제작된 가면을 쓴 얼굴 위변조의 경우 일반적인 밝기 영상으로는 검출이 용이하지 않다. 최근의 획기적인 특수 분장 기술 발전을 고려할 때 성공적인 얼굴 인식시스템 개발을 위해 가면을 쓴 얼굴 위변조 검출 연구는 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 물질의 재질 및 표면 색상에 따른 반사율의 차이를 기반으로 가면을 착용하는 얼굴 위변조 검출 방법을 제안한다. 우선 실제 얼굴 인식 시스템의 적용 환경을 고려할 때 알비도(albedo)를 단순히 빛의 반사량, 즉, 영상에서의 그레이 값으로 간략화 할 수 있음을 보였다. 이를 기반으로 850nm 적외선 조명이 얼굴 피부와 가면재질의 구분에 가장 적합하고, 인종 간 다른 피부색에 대해서는 685nm 조명에서 뚜렷한 차이를 보임을 알 수 있었다. 이 두 파장대의 조명하에서 측정한 영상의 그레이 값으로 2D 특징 벡터를 만들어 사용하면 특징 공간 상에서의 얼굴 피부와 가면 재료의 분포는 선형적으로 분리가 가능한 분포를 갖게 되는 것을 알 수 있었다. Fisher Linear Discriminant(FLD)를 적용하여 97.8%의 가면 얼굴 검출율을 얻을 수 있었다. 제안하는 방법은 기존의 상용 얼굴 인식 시스템에 매우 적은 비용과 간단한 방법으로 추가 적용하여 모든 인종에 대한 얼굴 위변조 검출이 가능하다.

천연색소를 함유하는 유중폴리올(Polyol-in-Oil) 립메이크업 제품에 관한 연구 (A Study for Polyol-in-Oil Type Lip Makeup Cosmetics with Natural Pigments)

  • 립 메이크업 제품은 음식물과 함께 체내로 유입되므로 안전성에 대한 필요성이 다른 화장품보다 크다. 또한 합성 안료인 타르계 색소에 대한 안전성 문제가 지속적으로 부각되고 있는 상황에서 천연색소에 대한 요구가 점점 증가되고 있으며, 많은 종류의 천연 색소가 개발되고 있다. 하지만 립메이크업 제품에 합성색소 대신 천연색소를 이용하기에는 여러 가지 문제점이 있다. 대부분 천연 색소는 안토시아닌 계통의 친수성 물질로 구성되어 있지만, 기존의 입술 화장료는 오일과 왁스로 이루어진 무수상태의 유분산 제형이 대부분이기 때문이다. 따라서 립메이크업 제품은 상기에서 설명한 바와 같인 무수제형이기 때문에 수용성인 천연색소를 사용할 경우에 색상발현도가 낮고 불안정하여 제형에서 색소가 분리되기 쉽다. 또한 천연색소는 pH, 열 및 일광 등에 의해 쉽게 변하는 단점이 있는데, 무수제형에서는 이에 대한 조절이 쉽지 않아 안정도에 문제점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 천연색소를 사용하여 인체에 안전하면서 색상 표현력이 우수한 립메이크업 조성물에 대하여 연구를 수행하였고, 천연색소를 유중폴리올 에멀젼에 포집하여 색소의 안정도를 확보하였으며, 수분증발 시 생기는 건조함이 없는 우수한 보습력을 갖는 립메이크업 제품을 제조하였다.

  • Perceptions of beauty change and are shared with others in the media of emotional words. In the modern age, a mix of traditional and modern make-up cultures has changed the standards of beauty. Therefore, an analysis using emotional words (an image that consumers have for certain subjects) and an image scale that intuitively shows them can be an important means for understanding changes in the "beauty of the time". This paper considered changes in typical aesthetic characteristics that women pursued through make-up by analyzing emotional words in white make-up powder advertisement texts from the 1920s through the 1930s. Imported modern technologies changed cosmetic manufacturing techniques and advertising methods to create a momentum that changed women's make-up culture from light to heavy make-up or from white to color make-up. Such changes have led to changes in the perception of beauty and were expressed through sensitive vocabularies such as pure, new, fresh, lofty, lively, healthy, and cheery. Such changes reflect social aspects such as women's aspirations for high status, pursuit of security, or women's roles under the wartime regime to show a change from beauty with an attribute of [+cool] to that of [+soft].

The Application of Make-up through Optical Illusion - Focused on Lineal Illusion -

  • With the occurrence of interest in image-presentation that helps express one's individuality in several place in our society, it has affected make-up field. Now, make-up is getting to be recognized as a key role player that reflects our social and cultural concerns not only by presenting a appropriate one that is proper when to use and what for, but also presenting individualistic images that are able to express one's attractiveness free from a last plain concept that meant merely applying cosmetics to one's face is makeup. Like above, the reason that a change for consciousness of the function of make-up was possible is a noticeable outcome that results from the difference before and after make-up. In other word, with the help of Corrective Make-up that makes use of optical illusion, the analytic research for features could have been carried out systematically, therefore, women get to present their beauty of innate facial shape and features at their pleasure. The basic principles of the Corrective Make-up, which was introduced to satisfy the purpose of the existing make-up take advantage of lines and colors that are part of the optical illusion. The nature of direction and movement was expressed by the direction and angle of lines and the colors are also able to induce the variation of images depend on the whole color around them or contrastive color around. This thesis is mainly about optical illusion through lines that are part of elements that induce the optical illusion and deals with phenomena that occur when we apply lines that are part of design into the make-up. And this is written for the purpose of establishing the last basis of make-up more scientifically and systematically through the research for the variation when we apply the nature of lines into our features and deriving facial image variation from it. This is also for study into the role of make-up as for psychological effect that is able to make facial images look different when the optical illusion with possible visual errors is applied into it. In conclusion, we can say "Make-up is optical illusion through visual elements such as lines, surfaces, books, touch and so on."

STUDY OF SYNTHESIS, MATTER S PROPERTIES AND APPLICATION OF MICA/TIA$_2$/SIO$_2$PIGMENT IN COSMETICS AREA

  • Generally pigment differs from dye stuff because it cannot be melted in water but also because it is stable physically and chemically. In this study you will discover the function, properties and effects of Micai-TiO$_2$-SiO$_2$pigment as abase material pigment. But until now used Mica of the base material is about 7-l5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ with an average diameters of 15${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. A new characteristic superficial pigment was obtained from covering the TiO$_2$ and SiO$_2$ with the adsorption result of isoelectric point of a Mica flake, TiO$_2$ and SiO$_2$In the composition reaction study of adsorption was done as well as the physical characteristics of the superficial texture of the obtained material. L,a,b of color change as oil was absorbed, optical nature and change of reflection according to direct and diffused reflection. In the composition of Mica slurry the best result obtained was in a solution with pH 2.0 to 2.3. Following this result, we can come to the idea that electrical attraction was done during the change of electrical charge of the Mica and TiO$_2$ deposit. Also this pigment shows a big scale between the direct reflection and diffused reflection light. Using this characteristic in cosmetic, it was obtained a natural but a contrast between light and shadow making possible a sculptured make-up. Color change due to oil adsorption was insignificant which improved the last of make up.

청소년을 위한 화장품 및 미용 교육프로그램 만족도 연구 - 광주광역시 '청소년 화장품 안전사용교육'을 중심으로 - (A Study on Satisfaction with Cosmetics and Beauty Education Programs for Youth: Focusing on Gwangju Metropolitan City's "Safety Use Education for Youth Cosmetics")

  • This study aimed to assess the satisfaction levels of adolescents with beauty programs, investigate the factors influencing them, and present foundational insights for designing cosmetics and beauty education initiatives tailored to adolescents. Specifically focusing on the "Safety and Use Education for Youth Cosmetics" program implemented in Gwangju Metropolitan City, it examined the satisfaction of participants, including students, instructors, and school teachers involved in the education. The study was based on action research, a qualitative methodology. The conclusions are as follows: First, participants gained knowledge and information encompassing various aspects of cosmetics, such as types, expiration dates and usage span, face wash and skin types, shampooing methods, scalp care, role and significance of sunscreen, skin trouble management, and identification of skin type, through cosmetic education programs. Second, participants learned about techniques such as eyebrow trimming, eyebrow shape correction, facial contour correction, skin blush supplementation, color makeup, personal color, and tattooing. Third, there is an urgent need to develop different educational teaching resources suitable for implementation across elementary, middle, and high schools. Fourth, it is necessary to cultivate higher-quality instructors in this digital age. Fifth, it is crucial to explore new methods of delivering beauty education to adolescents. We hope the insights gleaned from this study will serve as useful foundational data, albeit modest, fostering new beauty trends amidst the challenging landscape of youth education.

눈의 물리적인 특성과 유사한 펄 원료 개발 및 이를 이용한 화장료 조성물 제조방법 (Development of Pearl Pigment which Has the Similar Properties of Snow in Make-up Products)

  • 화장품 분야에서 펄 안료는 다양하게 적용되어져 왔다. 지금까지 가장 대중적으로 사용된 펄 안료는 마이카 기재에 산화철이 코팅된 것이었지만, 최종 제품에 이와 같은 펄을 사용하게 될 경우 천연 마이카에 함유된 불순물로 인해 약간의 불투명한 노란 색상이 띄게 된다[1,2]. 본 연구는 눈과 같은 반짝임을 제공하는 펄 안료 개발에 초점을 맞췄고, 눈과 같은 효과는 펄 안료의 구조와 순도 등의 영향 때문인 것을 알게 되었다. 특히, 이번 펄 안료 개발은 유리 기재와 산화철을 코팅시켜 눈의 광학적인 값(refractive index)과 입자 크기(particle size)를 눈과 유사하게 개발하였고 이는 눈과 같이 화려한 반짝임(glittering) 효과를 구현할 수 있게 되었다. 그리고 메이크업 제품에 본 펄 안료를 적용하여 화려한 제품을 개발하게 되었다.

존 갈리아노(John Galliana)와 마르탱 마르지엘라(Martin Margiela) 패션에 표현된 여성의 몸 (Women's Body in the Fashion of John Galliano and Martin Margiela)

  • The purpose of this study is to come up with a perspective that can enhance the understanding about the mechanism of fashion change. The starting idea of this study is that fashion has changed according to the ideal body image of the specific society or individual. The theoretical framework about the ideal body image has been studied by the literatures on the subject and it is verified by the analysis of John Galliano & Martin Margiela's fashion works. The results are as follows. First, Galliano exposes the woman's body as a sexual symbol which is articulated by men's eyes. Margiela describes the woman's body as human being which doesn't highlight any sexual characteristics. Second, Galliano emphasizes the body conscious silhouette whereas Margiela perceives the body as a whole, rather than looks into each body part. Third, Galliano uses lots of decoration to make display luxurious. Margiela restrains himself from using decorations and tries to create images by interaction between the clothes and bodies. Forth, Galliano expresses the eroticism by accentuating eyes and lips with strong color cosmetics. Margiela's fashion is not dazzling with makeup. He even covers the face with fabrics. Aesthetics in all societies is articulated by their hidden social power groups, and then it has influence on taking shape of the ideal body image and the mainstream of fashion. But the innate characters of individuals offer challenges to the fashion majority. The tension between the social power and individual character makes and changes the fashion.
